
According to recently published patents, Nintendo's new Switch handheld and console hybrid will have variable CPU and GPU performance across mobile and console modes.
Mobile mode will scale the GPU and CPU performance to reduce heat and preserve battery life, with both CPU and GPU being capped in this mode. Resolution will also be scaled in this mode, too.
Games, apps and programs will dynamically scale CPU and GPU performance and clock frequency, and the Switch will perform at an uncapped perf while docked.
