Streaming and sharing SS, video etc...
Tablet part can be use like a tablet! Lots of app support! Youtube, twitter, instagram all social media apps.
Lots of JRPG games :D

(ESL guy here)

wonderfulmonkeyman3445d ago (Edited 3445d ago )

I'd like those first two things too, but on 4 gbs of ram?
Hmm....
Just saying, I'm keeping my expectations low on this one; Nintendo's systems have mostly focused around gaming functions moreso than social apps.
It'll probably have the Youtube and Netflix apps, but I wouldn't expect any that function for chat, let alone ALL apps. (Unless the 8-ram rumor is true, in which case...)
Just because it looks like a tablet doesn't mean it's designed with the designs of other tablets' functions in mind. The Switch is almost sure to be 99% focused in on gaming.
Whether or not that's a bad thing depends on how much you value your Facebook functionality mid-game, I guess.XD (Joking, obviously)

The lots of JRPG's though, I can totally agree with. I mean, didja see the number of Japanese devs on it? It's a good sign for JRPG lovers.

We're on the same page. Thanks :)

I am guessing you did not have the Wii U.......you can share videos like some of my Mario kart matches are online, you can chat to anyone in Miiverse basically everyone who have a Wii U and if conversation go well you can add them, where you can have personal messages between you and that person....or even Video chat through the Wii U gamepad camera..........Miiverse is social, even facebook took Nintendo idea where instead of pressing like you can use a smiley face or whatever, you can even like someone post on Miiverse, comment under it, and if you do not want them to be your friend, they can follow you like facebook and see everything new that you post, but they cant send you personal message unless they choose to accept your friend request ..........so I am not sure where you get these ideas of only YouTube and Netflix

Gemmol3444d ago

Like I told the guy that responded to you

I am guessing you did not have a Wii U either.......you can share videos like some of my Mario kart matches are online, you can chat to anyone in Miiverse basically everyone who have a Wii U and if conversation go well you can add them, where you can have personal messages between you and that person....or even Video chat through the Wii U gamepad camera..........Miiverse is social, even facebook took Nintendo idea where instead of pressing like you can use a smiley face or whatever, you can even like someone post on Miiverse, comment under it, and if you do not want them to be your friend, they can follow you like facebook and see everything new that you post, but they cant send you personal message unless they choose to accept your friend request ..........so I am not sure where you get these ideas of only YouTube and Netflix

NextGenCeo3444d ago (Edited 3444d ago )

No you got me wrong my friend. I have Wii U and you can check my youtube channel NextGenCeoTV then you can see my Mario Kart 8 video shares :D
But i'm trying to say it should be easy like video recording and posting and should be for all game. You know you can't share easily Screen Shots on Wii U. It's not like PS4 with one share button and share on twitter or facebook or just keep on your system or usb drive. It's take time on Nintendo Wii U.
And Video recording and sharing i just saw on Mario Kart 8 not other games.

Mii verse awesome social feature i know but for sending message to my friend i don't wanna go all the way mii verse find friend send him text and go back game! Xbox one and PS4 examples and solutions is perfect and same time simple right?

(ESL guy so sorry for English)

wonderfulmonkeyman3444d ago

I do own a Wii U, and while I forgot about Miiverse, it's not the same as a chat program.
I never really took advantage of the Mario Kart video feature. Kinda forgot it existed.XD

Sm00thNinja3445d ago

This may be petty but if there is no trophies or chievos I'm out.

wonderfulmonkeyman3445d ago (Edited 3443d ago )

Will you settle for in-game ones rather than a public list?
If not, I wouldn't set my expectations too high...
Not trying to be mean, just realistic.
I won't judge you harshly for it, but me personally, I'm not the type that needs an achievement/trophy list in a game, so long as the game is great.
Trophies just feel like artificial replayability padding to me, on many games.
Some use the trophies as a side thing to compliment the already-high replayability, but others almost rely on them to get players to come back...

Editing due to comment limit;
"Bloodborne Uncharted 4, a plethora of JRGS, Infamous, Until dawn, NMS, TLG, The Order."

Out of that entire list, only Bloodborne and Infamous interest me. There's a few JRPG's that do as well, but I'm picky with my JRPG's and am still looking into the list before I decide whether or not to just get more of that genre on my PS3 instead.
Lord knows there's still hundreds on it, and from the PS2, that I haven't gotten to yet. I don't really need a PS4 for JRPG's, far as I can tell, but again, still researching.
I've played through Uncharted 4 once before, on my brother's PS4, and have no desire to play through it again, and No Man's Sky is better on PC.
The rest I don't rate highly enough to bother with.

So no, the PS4's single player lineup hasn't convinced me yet.
I might start saving up for one in the middle of next year, after I have my new PC and the Switch, because by then it should either have gotten rid of that damnable paywall or have bulked up with enough single player games that suit my tastes.

Sm00thNinja3444d ago

No that's exactly what the Wii U does why would that be acceptable. 2 generations in a row and Nintendo is still lagging. I FULLY expect a trophy system in some form this time

wonderfulmonkeyman3444d ago (Edited 3444d ago )

"why would that be acceptable"?
Why would it not be?
Aside from the ability to show them off, you're still doing the exact same thing as always: completing side taskes for awards/achievements.
Is not being able to show them off the issue?

Sm00thNinja3444d ago

Because the Wii U did exactly that? In game achievements were available across several titles. STAMPS they were. It wasn't universal. If I didn't like that system on Wii U why would that work now

wonderfulmonkeyman3444d ago

Again, even if they weren't part of a profile that you could show off, that didn't change the fact that you were still doing the same thing; side missions for trophies/achievements.
How does them not being a part of a "universal" something take away from the fact that you were still doing the exact same tasks that you would be if it were a part of a publicly viewable account?

Sm00thNinja3444d ago

You don't understand trophies or achievements. How are you gonna try and tell me how I feel? Like I get arguing that trophies and achievements aren't integral to gaming. BUT YOU ARE LITERALLY TRYING TO CONVINCE ME THAT I SHOULD BE OK WITH NINTENDO MEAGER OFFERINGS THUS FAR AND I'M NOT. Nintendo is lagging bottom line and I want a universal trophy system

wonderfulmonkeyman3444d ago (Edited 3444d ago )

#1 I was not trying to dictate how you feel, nor convince you of anything. That's misrepresentation of my stance. You're making this personal when it's not.
#2 You still haven't answered my question; how does it not being universally tied change things, when you're still doing the same tasks to earn said trophies, regardless of the ability to show them off?
Is not being able to show them off, when it's not tied to a universal whatever, the reason that you hate it so much? Or is there some other reason?
#3 I own and frequently play on a PS3. I understand trophies and achievements just fine, tyvm.

Sm00thNinja3444d ago

You have a PS3 .... a PS3 and that makes you a trophy expert.... ok. And I can't explain it to someone who really mains on Nintendo consoles. There's just something about trophies and achievements that's addicting. You have a Wii U I'm assuming and that's it? No PS4 or Xbone? So it's hard to explain. A sense of accomplishment? My point is Microsoft has them. Sony really added to them with trophies. Nintendo needs to offer a accomplishment system. 2 generations behind now

wonderfulmonkeyman3444d ago (Edited 3444d ago )

I've earned trophies in pretty much every game I've played on PS3, and I doubt the PS4's trophy system is so drastically different to the way the PS3 does it that it bears any significance to the conversation.
Also, in games that offered an achievement list on Wii U, I got the same sense of accomplishment out of doing those tasks as I ever did accomplishing said tasks on the PS3. (which, admittedly, is not much, as I've never really actively hunted down everything in every single game. Some of the Platinum trophies have absurd requirements.XD)
Regardles of being universal or not, achievements are achievements.
So unless you just don't like that not every game has them on Nintendo's systems thus far, or that you can't display them in a public list to impress others, I don't really see the difference between in-game list and a public display tray for said trophies.
Do you just not get any satisfaction out of earning achievements that you can't put out on display, or hate the fact that not all of Nintendo's games have an achievement list? Or am I missing something?

Edit; I'm NOT missing anything, though. The PS3's trophy system works the same way.
I don't think you're understanding where I'm coming from.
There's nothing to admit. Yeah, Nintendo needs to make achievements a thing in more of their games, but they don't need a universal system to do it.
The achievements aren't somehow lower in quality just because they're done differently; you are still earning them the same way either way.

Sm00thNinja3444d ago

You're missing everything, simply because you are JUST a Wii U owner. The fact that you cannot admit Nintendo is lagging in this regard is equally upsetting. Smh. I feel bad for you for just owning one console. Hopefully the switch offers a universal trophy system you can experience and appreciate. I like trophies and achievements in my games that's as simple as I can put it.

Gemmol3444d ago

you are right the other guy is wrong, its same thing, people just like to complain lol I would of gave up long time ago but I respect what you try to do and teach him, because honestly it is the same thing, same feeling, and everyone else gets to see it.....so if everything the same, you just dealing with someone who like to complain that's all, that's when you let them be

deafdani3443d ago

Smoothninja, I own both PS3 and PS4 and there's virtually no difference in the trophy systems between both consoles except the fact that synching trophies is annoying and slow as hell on PS3.

So yeah, you're just using a pathetic and invalid condescending stance towards Monkey here only to disregard his questions... I guess because you can't or don't want to explain why not having a universal trophy system is such a deal-breaker for you.

Sm00thNinja3443d ago (Edited 3443d ago )

Deaf Dani you're an idiot there is no difference between the ps3 and ps4. No one said that. There is a difference between the Wii U and PS3/PS4. So same condescending tone towards you because you canthink bother to read our conversation. Nintendo fanboy are worse than Sony and Microsofts combined

There is a monumental difference between a universal trophy system and Wii U/Wiis lack of one. The Wiis U DOESN'T INCLUDE THEM IN EVERY GAME, also there's no way to share/post my achievements, I can't show them off, no one knows I got all 120 stars in Super Mario 64, there's no sense of accomplishment with the Wii U system. You're all drunk fanboy though so telling you your console sucks is useless anyway.

Also hard to believe someone who LOOVED every game on the Ps3 still hasn't picked up a Ps4 I'd love to know that answer

deafdani3443d ago (Edited 3443d ago )

I know there's a big difference between the trophies in PS3 / PS4 and stickers / achievements / whatever in Wii U.

However, that wasn't what I was addressing.

You said Monkeyman doesn't know anything about trophies because he doesn't have a PS4, despite him having said that he has a PS3, which works pretty similarly, by your own admission.

So, I'm pointing out the flaw in your argument.

Monkeyman asked you a question, you didn't answer it, and just resorted to attacking him. Ironically, you answered that question to ME, despite the fact that I didn't answer it.

"I can't show them off, no one knows I got all 120 stars in Super Mario 64, there's no sense of accomplishment with the Wii U system."

That, right there, is exactly what you could've told Monkeyman to answer his question, instead of attacking him with petty insults or disregarding his opinions with weak and flawed arguments.

Have a good day.

Sm00thNinja3443d ago (Edited 3443d ago )

Lol pointing out the flaw in my argument what a good cop out to avoid confrontstion. You specifically said There was no difference between the PS3/4 in reguards to the discussion about the Wii U. You misunderstood the conversation and now want to bow out? Gtfoh. Stop acting high and mighty. Just because he owns a PS3 doesn't make him a trophy expert.

It doesn't mean he gets the same thrill of trophy hunting. It's obviously not his Forte or he wouldn't game solely on the Wii U. But go ahead misunderstand some more why don't ya.

Bottom line Nintendo only gamers can't understand why trophies and achievements are a part of gaming now and should be expected in some form. Same ones who still tolerate friend codes and such a restrictive online infrastructure

wonderfulmonkeyman3443d ago (Edited 3443d ago )

So NOW you give a straight answer; You hate it on the Wii U because you can't show them off in a way you're used to.
You're the type that can only feel a sense of accomplishment from achievements or trophies when you're able to show off with them through some sort of constant list.
It's not the earning that matters MOST to you; it's the "look what I can do!" afterwards that you strive the most for.
You should have just said that in the first place instead of dancing around the subject; I'm not here to make fun of you for that, because there are plenty of people out there, even in the realm of big sports, who are like that.

Oh, and you wanted to know why I haven't gotten a PS4 instead of a PS3 right?
It's because of the online multiplayer being blocked by a pay wall.
I'll get a PS4 later, but only once it has enough EXCLUSIVE single player games that I just can't live without.
Their digital games store was enough of a reason for a subscription service; blocking the ability to play with my friends by slapping a transaction fee in front of that right, is anti-consumer bullshit, and both Sony and Microsoft should be ashamed of doing so.
If the Switch does the same, I'll treat it the same way I have the PS4.

Also; "It doesn't mean he gets the same thrill of trophy hunting. It's obviously not his Forte or he wouldn't game solely on the Wii U. But go ahead misunderstand some more why don't ya.

Bottom line Nintendo only gamers can't understand why trophies and achievements are a part of gaming now and should be expected in some form."

He hasn't misunderstood anything, because I DO NOT SOLELY GAME ON THE WII U.
I own a PS3. The trophy system there is EXACTLY THE SAME as on PS4.
I understand perfectly fine.
What I could not understand was why you hated one over the other, until you explained it was because you value showing off more than making the achievements themselves.
Quit pretending you know better than me or anyone else here; it's rude, and owning a PS4 doesn't give you privileged knowledge that no one else can understand.
I've shown you civility and respect from the start, but if you really want to continue being condescending towards me with statements and attitudes like that, then I can stop being civil in a heartbeat, or better yet, just outright ignore you going forwards.
Your call.

Sm00thNinja3443d ago (Edited 3443d ago )

The PS4 doesn't have enough EXCLUSIVE SINGLE PLAYER GAMES!? Bloodborne Uncharted 4, a plethora of JRGS, Infamous, Until dawn, NMS, TLG, The Order... and that's just off the top of my head!! If there's any time to jump in its now! And yes the I'M NOT EVEN A TROPHY WHORE it's just an added incentive I expect at this point. Nintendo has a million little jingles to pop up every time I earn a trophy. They have to be aware or at least have acknowledged it's a neat feature. To not include it in the Switch would be heartbreaking.

1. Keep online free. Most important part of the online aspect for the switch. Make some tweaks from the WiiU online capabilities and it'll be good.
2. Achievements....sure cool. But not a deal breaker by any means
3. Multitasking. Again cool but not a deal breaker. And I hope they don't waste time trying to make it a streaming device too. I have a TV for all my streaming needs so it would just be a waste.

wonderfulmonkeyman3444d ago

Fully agree with the first part; paywalls for online multiplayer feels anti-consumer to me.
I won't buy any online-enabled games for the Switch, not even Mario Kart or Smash, if they demand extra payment for it.
It'd take someone paying FOR me, to get me to participate in that practice.

deafdani3443d ago

Monkey, see my reply to eaise in regards to multitasking.

deafdani3443d ago

Multitasking is really important, actually. The lack of it was one of the reasons why messaging was so poorly implemented on the Wii U, and also why Miiverse never really reached its full potential.

Being able to access friend messages immediately and easily, and also Miicerse, without 30 second loads, would drastically improve the user experience on the Switch, and being able to multitasking would allow for this, because Miiverse and messages would be constantly running in the background as opposed to loading from scratch every single time you acceded it, as it was on the Wii U.

wonderfulmonkeyman3443d ago (Edited 3443d ago )

If they can make that happen without putting up a paywall in front of multiplayer, then that would be fine.
If they need to do a subscription service, let it be done for their virtual console.
Not their multiplayer.

Also, thanks for coming in back there. It's rare for me to feel like I'm not all alone in my opinion, on this site.XD

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.
