Ubisoft’s For Honor Will Require a Persistent Internet Connection

Ubisoft's upcoming melee action game For Honor will not allow users to play without an internet connection, despite the publisher's previous assurances that it will come complete with a fully featured single-player campaign.

Given how "stable" the servers were during The Division launch, I will have to pass. Maybe bargain bin purchase later

UCForce3421d ago (Edited 3421d ago )

Yeah, I agree. "Sigh" Ubisoft never learn their mistakes. Well, that's just make me skip their game. Horizon Zero Dawn and Nioh will be my purchase.

Kryptix3421d ago (Edited 3421d ago )

Game actually had potential as the 1vs1 and 2vs2 teamed with a friend were fun and intense, packed with hilarious moments. I actually really enjoyed my time on the beta, but...

Decisions like these can mean one thing, this game will be heavy on the microtransactions as there could be a possibility that whatever visual appearance you apply for online will also apply in the campaign. Possibility.

http://www.gamespot.com/art...

"We built the campaign so that if you bought the game just for that, that you would be satisfied even if you never went online and played multiplayer. It's intended to be a full experience."

Yea right, "if you never went online," they backpedaled hard on that. Forget this game, get it used when you can or at a discount price on PC. You can never trust a game that you need to always connect online for single player since if the servers are unstable or go down, you'll have a dud. Plus, Ubisoft doesn't have a good reputation with server quality.

slappy5083421d ago

Agreed. We've got Nioh and Horizon launching in the same month. And in January a whole smorgasbord of games like Kingdom Hearts 2.8, Tales of Beseria and Yakuza that I wouldn't be able to get through at once. So For Honor, though Intersting not high on my priority list

RememberThe3573420d ago

At this point we might want Vivendi to take them over. Ubi sucks now...

AnubisG3420d ago

I was on the fence about this game but Unbisoft has decided it for me with this move. I will not buy this game. Maybe at $15.

Well....I'm off it now

https://media.giphy.com/med...

I've went off Assassins Creed, Watch Dogs, didn't like the new Far Cry as it wasn't Far Cry and now they pull this shit

SnotyTheRocket3421d ago

Firstly, you don't get to decide if the new Far Cry is a Far Cry game. Oh no, God forbid it's any different right? Same goes with RE7 btw. Second, don't boycott a game just because you need the Internet to play. It's a multiplayer focused title, buying for the most likely short campaign would be a stupid idea anyways.

NapalmSanctuary3421d ago

@SnotyTheRocket We all get to decide if the new Far Cry is Far Cry enough for us. Same goes for RE7. And we all get to decide if any game deserves our money or not, for whatever reason.

Muzikguy3421d ago

@Snoty

You fit your name well. Want to buy me these games? I boycott them too, but if you give them to me I may play them. (I won't, but the gesture would be nice). We ALL get to decide for ourselves what we want to spend our money on and if we deem the purchase worthy. Ubisoft IMO has done what EA did last generation. All this always online stuff is killing every game they release. I hate the company for it and have been boycotting them since the PS4 launched.

Even so, I have given them a shot once or twice. I rented RB6 and was beyond disappointed. Played the Division and was disappointed..... done with Ubisoft

i foresee torrenting this because of this drm

Spenok3421d ago

How does requiring an internet connection translate to no fully featured single-player campaign? Also, if you follow their link to the Amazon store you see this answer by Ubisoft Support on Dec 1st:

"Hi Alec, For Honor will have an offline campaign (and the complete details about that dimension of the experience will come at a later date), cooperative playing experience, and online multiplayer! Where you can conquer foes alone or with friends. "

superchiller3420d ago

Do you understand the contradiction between "offline campaign" and a required Internet connection to play the game? Those are mutually exclusive stipulations.

Spenok3420d ago

@Superchiller

Yes, they are separate. The campaign will NOT require internet. Plain and simple.

Hellforged_Savant3421d ago (Edited 3421d ago )

Oh this will end well. Why the hell can't some companies just learn from decade old mistakes.

Yi-Long3421d ago

Probably because they are run by greedy and ignorant CEOs, instead of by people who know what gamers/consumers want...

kraenk123421d ago

It's mainly an online game...I don't get what people expect sometimes.

ninsigma3421d ago

Nothing wrong with online orientated games but single player sections shouldn't need to be connected to the Internet.

rocketpanda3421d ago

Except it has fully fleshed out SP mode. So why does the single player campaign need to be online then? I could care less if it is mainly online. Even cod and bf doesn't need to be constantly connected to play its single player campaigns regardless if you play them or not.

3421d ago
Lennoxb633421d ago (Edited 3421d ago )

It's online MP game. If you're looking for some super deep SP content than this isn't for you.

@THE-JAGON

Never said it didn't. Maybe I should reword it. The game is MP FOCUSED. Single Player is an afterthought for this game.

Krytix

That's all good and fine that they built a satisfying campaign. But the game was created with MP in mind first. Then given a campaign. Not like Uncharted where its built with SP in mind, then given a MP.

THE-JAGON3421d ago (Edited 3421d ago )

for Honor has a single player story campaign you ignorant idiot!

perhaps you didn't see the story trailer

"We built the campaign so that if you bought the game just for that, that you would be satisfied even if you never went online and played multiplayer. It's intended to be a full experience."

http://www.gamespot.com/art...

Kinda hard to argue when they point blank said they're building a "satisfying" campaign, in their own words, that you never have to go online for. Plus, intended as a full experience like any other game. ...Once again, their words and it's from the creative director, too.

EDIT:

@Lennoxb63

Well, they did say it's intended as a "full experience" without the need to play multiplayer, meaning, it's a prime focus, so you fail to make a point.

WellyUK3421d ago

yet 99% of you will all sit there online while playing the SP anyway so why the hell does it matter...

NarooN3421d ago

If you ever have ISP issues or the Ubisoft servers go down, you have a SP game that is a complete doormat and has no actual purpose anymore. It's unnecessary and it's stupid.

Spenok3421d ago

Muzikguy3421d ago

All they see are 💲💲 when in reality they're losing it. I laugh at these people that sit behind a desk and crunch numbers because they're so out of touch with reality. Stuff always looks good on paper but the real world application doesn't follow through

No buy!Thank God i don't pre order games anymore!Division online servers suck,The Crew suck,Watch Dogs 2 every one knows the broken mutiplayer,Assassins Creed latest games all have mutiplayer issues and some even perform worst on single player due to the persistent online connection, fuck you Ubisoft!

TimelessDbz3421d ago

Watch dogs 2 broken multiplayer? Down for 1 day and some how its broken. Don't kid yourself /blow it out of proportion.

-Foxtrot3421d ago

It was still broke though one day or not

InTheZoneAC3420d ago

I had fun in The Crew getting my first car to platinum rank. You should give it a shot after Wild Run came out, everything got patched for better.

Xzviur_Azai3421d ago

LOL! Once again... I'll stick with TF2 thanks.

justsomeoffdude3421d ago

hehe... thank you ubisoft for helping me save 60 bucks for another title

MatrixxGT3421d ago

Yep. Probably DL this when it inevitably ends up on GwG or PSplus.
