Someone please explain to me how this benefits them. I mean why risk alienating your customers if there isn't some sort of reward or payoff to online only games.

I apologize if the answer is obvious or well known, I am totally in the dark here.

How does requiring an internet connection translate to no fully featured single-player campaign? Also, if you follow their link to the Amazon store you see this answer by Ubisoft Support on Dec 1st:

"Hi Alec, For Honor will have an offline campaign (and the complete details about that dimension of the experience will come at a later date), cooperative playing experience, and online multiplayer! Where you can conquer foes alone or with friends. "

At least from the beta it sure looked like any single player campaign would be incredibly short anyway. I've seen a few games do that lately, where they toss in a token quick campaign even if it's only a few hours long just to say it has one to avoid the complaints Star Wars Battlefront and Titanfall one got. Gamers want a real single player campaign, not something that you finish in 3 hours and never touch again just so devs can claim it technically has one in reviews. So I'd wait to see how large the campaign is in For Honor .

I never feel confident about their single player that would be in this game simply because it was announced after the fact which simply makes it sound like an afterthought.

This game is not some single player focused cinematic Adventure...

It's a multiplayer game about historical factions, nothing is wrong with that but I believe announcing the single player after the fact doesn't make it sound as if it's a strong point in the game it simply makes it sound like a rushed bullet point.

I understand why it needs a constant internet connection it is a multiplayer game, but in regards to the single player that doesn't really make any sense...

Unless they have a portion in a multiplayer game in which other people could enter the single-player campaign to either fight against you or assist you in which I can't really do fully define that as single player.

If that's the case I don't really disagree with this decision because it sort of makes sense if it's the main concept of the game.

But if the game has a portion in which the single player literally is just single player in regards from going to area to area by yourself in completing this portion of the game I see zero reason to need a constant internet connection.

In my personal opinion I actually think that maybe they should just leave it alone and focus on it being a multiplayer game if that's what they intended it to be.
I don't like this stupid adding crap as bullet points simply to desperately try to get sales from Gamers and confuse them because there's lots of people that don't fully understand this in gaming and literally might see for Honor like Niho or onimusha or something like that.

We all know those gamers purchase titles like Battlefield expecting a single player like BioShock....

Don't get me wrong I like the single-player in Battlefield 1 but I'm not sure I could ever recommend a person purchase that game simply for its single-player expecting something even near Deus Ex or Dishonored...

This is something that I believe companies deliberately know most consumers do not know and there's going to be a lot of Gamers who might pick up this not knowing its focus is not really to be a single player title.

In my personal opinion they should cut the mode and focus on what it was intended to be as opposed to trying to shoehorn in bullet points.

If you're not going to make a single player that's going to come here something like onimusha please stop trying to masquerade a multiplayer game as if it's going to have some cinematic single player experience that could hold its own weight because you guys damn well know the single player that's going to be in this game would have never survived if it was simply just a single player release.

I'm getting it regardless because I loved the game when I played it at E3 and when I played the Alpha. Do I think it's a good idea to have persistent internet connection even for single player? not at all. I enjoyed the game so much though so I have to get it.

Well, that is 2/3rd of their potential sales gone before the game even launches.

It's an online MP focused game. What do people expect? If you're looking for some super deep story or something this isn't what you're looking for.

They added 2step verification, and it auto triggered on my account, so I can't even access the games I own. Why would I even consider buying anything else from them ever again...

If this game has single player content and requires an online connection, then yes... they definitely...definitely do not deserve my money for implementing this sort of practice.

They already announced that you can play the single player offline on their forums the box is just a disclaimer for the online mode geez man maybe you research next time in this crappy site trying to get hits. Go on the forums and read that the single-player can be played offline . I don't know why you're going off of what a fox says plenty of time to serve the needs of online Internet connection but the actual single-player modes you can play offline that comes on a lot of games
