PS4 comes with a controller, personally I think it's the best controller yet. So why buy this ugly thing? D-pad looks horrible btw.

I have this controller. It's pretty nice, the DPAD is bad but the analogue sticks and buttons are really great. The triggers are super sensitive which is nice for twitchy shooters, and the 'short trigger mode' is really helpful for regulating your fire rate with semi automatic weapons.

The main appeal and reason many are buying this type of controller (like Scuff and the XBOX ONE elite before it) are the paddles at the back of the controller. These allow you to remap buttons to the rear of the controller so that you can perform actions like reloading and weapon swapping, without shifting your hands off of the analogue sticks. In theory you can jump without sacrificing accuracy.

On this pad the paddles at the back of the controller are really nice, very easy to press as they sit where my hand naturally falls. They add two extra buttons which I assign to jump and crouch, and I'm bunny hopping on Titanfall 2 without sacrificing accuracy or the ability to twitch-melee someone. There are also two additional bumpers next to the L2 and R2 buttons (one each side) which add even more functionality for you to play with, without moving off of the analogue stick. These ones take a little more getting used to as it's odd to have buttons there, I wouldn't want to be pressing them all of the time, because you can't, for example press L2 and this extra button very easily at the same time, yet it's fantastic for things like weapon swapping or using an ultimate ability, enabling you to have these less frequently used buttons at the tip of your finger tips at all times.

PROS

Extra buttons allow you to keep your focus on the analogue sticks at all times
Hair trigger and short trigger modes allow you to better manage your fire rate and pull the trigger just slightly faster
Wired is a great option, reducing latency and removing potential interference
Easily to remap the additional buttons from the controller itself
Multiple profiles for button remapping
Buttons and analogue sticks feel incredibly responsive
Very ergonomic, fits my hands very nicely
Extra paddles are removable, if you didn't want them (though not sure why you would buy it then remove these)

Cons

DPAD isn't as good as the DS4, it's fine for most games but I wouldn't play Street Fighter V with it
No option for wireless, even if you wanted it
Most of the digital buttons click, which might be annoying for some

How much b/c the Scuff controllers are crazy expensive. I would have to compare this to scuff and the other licensed controller. Looks solid but probably costs $200.

I love my XBone Elite Controller but for my Sony fix I'll stick with the DS4.

I actually don't mind the shape of the controller at all.

I've never had good luck with Razer controllers, unfortunately. The Razer Onza I got for my Xbox had a mushy dpad and X button, and developed drift in the right analog stick after a month. The Sabertooth was somehow worse and completely stopped functioning within the first month, so I was able to return it for a refund.

Hopefully this PS4 controller is improved since Razer's Xbox days, for sure, but I'm going to be cautious of this until after people use this for a month or two.

interesting to see if the triggers on the underside hair triggers or just plain triggers... also dont like the placement of the new bumpers on the top...

i have both the xone controller and the ps4 controller but so far i enjoy using the xone controller more becuase i like the feel it's a bit heavy and it doesnt feel cheap or plasticy. on the other hand i like the PS3 controller over the xbox 360 controller the sticks on the 360 controller felt a bit rough and strange lol so the DS3 was always my go to controller until i bought the xone controller. any way on topic this doesnt look too bad if they could add some weight to it then it may catch my interest

Above I see people talking about its looks(actually looks different and ok , which is good , wouldn't want a pro pad looking and being like a standard pad...or else , it would be standard pad...), not concerned about its asphetic comfort , and control....??

Personally the ergonomics of the standard ps4 controller is much more comfortable to hold and use than the xb1 controller design (for me at least). I have an xb1 controller for my PC rig and I cannot stand the thing, just feels so awkward and the top bumper buttons are a pain to use. Any slightly extended period of gaming and my hands (and left thumb) start to cramp up.

Maybe I am just holding it wrong or something, but I do know how to properly hold a PS controller and they just work so much better for my hands. Even the ps3 controller wasn't an issue for me in the slightest.

Yeah, I don't like it too much, either. It looks really, kinda.. blocky.
