Aw I thought this article was going to detail the evolution of the series through nearly three decades
We've come to.... better graphics, crappier gameplay, crappier stories, and half the game on disc, while the other half is on some server somewhere in the world.
I think that about sums it up.
I don't mind FFXV, but I have learned a few things. One is that even though it's been "in development" for 10 years, it still seems rushed in spots. The time something has been developed has no direct correlation to the quality of the finished product. I think that unless they get "back to their roots" I won't be buying 16 on day one. Might skip it completely. 15 is a decent game, but it's not the JRPG I was hoping for. Far too western, way too many things that make this game seem less like a "traditional" RPG. There are many but I'll give one that people probably overlook. Press the touchpad and what's the first option you see? Map. Then Quests. This right here screams western to me. Items is way at the bottom. That should be number one, especially for an RPG IMO
