Bioshock and Eternal Sonata worth getting on the PS3?

As the holiday season approaches us, many publishers will start bringing out the big guns in a span of three short months. This October the PS3 will receive a couple of games Xbox 360 owners have had a chance to play last year. With Bioshock and Eternal Sonata releasing on the PS3 next month some gamers may wonder if these two titles are worth getting among a sea of great games.

Are they worth getting? Yes.
Are they worth getting on the same day little big planet comes out? NO!

Anton Chigurh6333d ago (Edited 6333d ago )

I already finished Bioshock and eternal Sonata . but the PS3 library need these types games cuz
first, they don't have enough JRPGS
second, they got only one good exclusive which is MGS4 (above 90 in meta)

@ below

I don't see any JRPG title ??? besides I'm talking about this winter not 2009

Rick Astley6333d ago (Edited 6333d ago )

Luckily for me I have a job and here are all the games I'll be getting in October:

1. LittleBigPlanet
2. Motorstorm: Pacific Rift
3. Soldner-X (PSN)
4. Dead Space
5. Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm
6. SOCOM: Confrontation
7. BioShock
8. Far Cry 2 (Limited Edition)
9. Fallout 3 (Collector's Edition)

That's right. 9 games in October. *Wipes tears from wallet*

LastDance6333d ago (Edited 6333d ago )

omg....If we go by what Meta critic says.......GTA4 is the best game ever made and no movie on EARTH is good....so get over that little piece of supporting info.

@ Hi def LOL....Good stuff.

HighDefinition6333d ago

GTAIV the best game ever MADE!!!!

LOL.

MetaFTW

HighDefinition6333d ago (Edited 6333d ago )

All the games he list are in OCTOBER 2008.

2009 on the PS3 is WAY better than that!

So.........

cahill6333d ago

All the games he listed are coming in 2008 October
I know it is puzzling to see PS3 have so many games but things have changed
Undoubtedly PS3 has the best gaming library this Fall

VF34EJ256333d ago

Movie Critics I swear are worse than game reviewers.

They don't like anything!

mfwahwah6333d ago

I don't need numbers on metacritic to tell me what a "good exclusive" is.

I've played Uncharted, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, and Resistance. They are good exclusives.

How did I arrive at this conclusion? Simple, they were fun, and well made. *GASP* Shocking, ain't it?

Omegasyde6333d ago

Are they worth getting? Yes.
Are they worth getting on the same day little big planet comes out? NO!
Are they worth getting this year? NO!
Are they worth getting before purchasing Motorstorm 2, Valkirie Chronicles, Socom, Resistance 2, Fallout 3, Wipeout HD? NO!

Now heres the tough question,
With a small update on graphics in Bioshock (PS3), will it look better than Deadspace and Resistance 2?

Killjoy30006333d ago (Edited 6333d ago )

What a stupid question. So I guess since I only have a PS3, and these games are already out for the 360, I should go waste 520 bucks on an Xbox and these two games because I'm just bursting with so much excitement that I can't wait a couple months.

IzKyD13316333d ago

he was referring to the people with both consoles

Killjoy30006333d ago

Well then in that case, I guess I'll get the ones with additional content and cleaner visuals.

LastDance6333d ago

I am so excited for bioshock. I remeber Playing it on my cousins Xbox and was just in awe.

InMyOpinion6333d ago

If you don't mind paying full price for old games they are totally worth getting.

Rick Astley6333d ago (Edited 6333d ago )

But who are they old to, exactly? 360 owners? There are other people in the world, you know. Most of us waited because we knew BioShock would be coming to PS3. Those rumors started hitting a year before the game was even released and look what happened. We got it with exclusive content + better water effects. Say it's old if you want to but PS3 owners are getting the definitive version of the best rated Xbox 360 game currently available. You couldn't spin this even if you tried.

Killjoy30006333d ago (Edited 6333d ago )

Bubbles, Rick. That was just beautiful.

Rick Astley6333d ago

Thanks. Here's one for you too.

IzKyD13316333d ago

well put rick, Unreal Tournament 3 for the 360 came out like 8 months after the PS3 version, and it was also full price

InMyOpinion6333d ago (Edited 6333d ago )

"BioShock PS3 vs. Xbox 360 Comparison Video"

http://ps3.kombo.com/articl...

Better water effects? The only difference I see in that video is that the 360 version has a slightly better framerate.

And then there is this PS3 exclusive feature:

"BioShock PS3 has 5Gb, 10-minute mandatory install"

http://www.n4g.com/ps3/News...

Well, have fun with your imaginary water effects. Whatever makes you sleep at night.

Rick Astley6333d ago (Edited 6333d ago )

I don't need to lie to prove a point.

http://kotaku.com/5034094/b...
http://au.ps3.ign.com/artic...

And great comparison there. How the hell are we supposed to judge a blurry, low res comparison video? ROFL get real dude. IGN has played both versions on HDTV's. You haven't. That's all there is to it.

The gaming GOD6333d ago

Since you want to go all fanboy and try to mention the negatives of the ps3 version of bioshock, why not list the positives too

-All the 360 versions content
-Additional levels
-Additional weapons
-Home Support
-Survival mode

And to fanboys on BOTH sides, you'll always see graphics and framerates in your preference favor.

ActionBastard6333d ago

Rick's point is very valid. It's futile to argue with him. He's never gonna give it up.

IzKyD13316333d ago

"Rick's point is very valid. It's futile to argue with him. He's never gonna give it up."

lmao! nice

MazzingerZ6333d ago

It must be hard to see 2 more X360 "exclusives" disappearing from that list...X360 great exclusives is now reduced to Halo 3 and Forza 2 if we take into account the games released during the last 18 months...the rest can be found on PC and PS3...the PS3 doesn't have the same "problem"...there're a lot of titles that can REALLY only be played on PS3...you won't see Resistance 2 on PC next year like Gears 2 will be

Blademask6333d ago (Edited 6333d ago )

First he starts off saying why on earth would anyone want an old game for 60.00. Faced with the fact that it is all new to a ps3 audience. The audience that more than likely doesn't own a 360 and hasn't played the game before.

After he gets owned on his main point(the entire reason he replied) of why would anyone buy an "old" game, he then goes after the WATER FX comments made and the INSTALL for the PS3 version. For what you ask? Will the potential customer buying this for their ps3 who doesn't own a 360 care? More than likely not. To top that all of many sources including the developers have said that the ps3 version will be improved, as it should seeing as how there has been so much time to improve on it.

So Jenzo once again, comes in here.. states a flawed point, gets owned, Then decides that because there is an install, hes not going to buy it. Which I'm sure you weren't going to do in the first place?

If anyone is on this site that feels the need to justify themselves, its the person who isn't interested in a product, coming into the story, and declaring how disinterested they are in the product. Wouldn't you say Jenzo?

Jenzo, heres the reality:

The PS3 version of Bioshock is coming with more content than the 360 version did.

The PS3 version has an Install to reduce loading times.

You aren't buying Bioshock for the PS3.

Many people will, that had enough of a life to be able to wait for a game release. Much like the UT3 fans for the 360. Old games released as new is nothing new to consoles. You should be used to it after shelling out 150 dollars for Halo2.5.

You would make more sense if you just came out and flat said "I hate that the PS3 is getting bioshock, it annoys me because im a loser." Or else, why would you even bother commenting?

SRLSLY?

InMyOpinion6333d ago

Aren't you they guys who said "I don't need this 360 game, I'll just get the superior PC version instead."?

Then why get the PS3 version now if you've already have the PC version? If you are so obsessed with graphics why not skip the PS3 version and go for the superior PC version instead?

VF34EJ256333d ago

"I hate that the PS3 is getting bioshock, it annoys me because im a loser."

Bwahahahaha I bet that hurts Jenzo pretty bad. It's okay though, the 360 is getting FFXIII. That's a nice little band-aid for Jenzo's wound.

Blademask6333d ago (Edited 6333d ago )

The PC version is better than the PS3/360 version. I never beat bioshock on the PC however. It got boring due to the vitachambers.

Now on the PS3 w/trophies its worth the purchase.

But are you still going to sit here and continue trolling? Or are you going to pretend that I didn't say anything to you 2 comments above?
If you aren't interested in getting the PS3 version, or even own a PS3. Why are you here trying to talk it down?

The reason the PC comments were made is because like all good 360 "exclusive" games, they are on the PC. So when You or your girlfriend TheMart come out and try to talk up the library in PS3 threads, i'm sorry, Reality has to chime in. Its to remind you that it isn't an exclusive, since I don't need to purchase a 360 to play the game. Also, Im not obsessed with graphics. Gameplay ALWAYS comes first. Luckily with the ps3 you get good gameplay and amazing visuals. Which is better than good gameplay, and average visuals that a mid-range pc can run. I love seeing stuff like in MGS4, which im sure you didn't play. But it really makes you feel like "JESUS CHRIST" we are moving forward in game development. The sheer scale, range of textures, lighting, animation is all second to none. And it enhances the game. There are moments in that game to where your jaw is just on the ground looking at the game. You have to remember that you are in fact playing a game.. and you have to shoot back at those guys shooting at you :). You don't get that experience at all on the 360.

So feel free to respond to my comments, or just go ahead and ignore them in true troll fashion.

UNCyrus6333d ago (Edited 6333d ago )

hahah, I wondered for a second why I had you ignored.... *sigh*

andron6333d ago

I ordered from play.com, and full price for most PS3 games there are usually 55.99 Euro.

But Bioshock cost me only 41.99. Maybe it will be less than full price when released everywhere.

AngryXbot6333d ago

Both games are genetically enhanced and with added extra content.

They were great games to begin with but the extras makes it worth buying for.

If you are an RPG fan starving for WKC, you might want to check out Eternal Sonata PS3. Its not a 9 out of 10, but definitely a 8 out of 10 worthy.

Bioshock is 360s GOTY 2007. Its a massive pwnage in the face of the bots to lose this baby. This game is a solid 8.5 out of 10, you wont go wrong with this title.

So much content for the PS3 this holiday season and beyond. Yummie yummie. So much content, so little time.

marionz6332d ago

actually loseing bioshock isnt a slap in the face to 360 owners at all, its a great game and i dont think anyone would complain about it going to ps3, i have no problem with games going multiplat, anyone who hasnt had the chance to play this has been missing out on one of the best games around

Next ‘BioShock’ Game Changes Leaders After Development Turmoil

The fourth game in the ‘BioShock’ series has been in development for more than a decade

Bioshock is one of my favourites franchises. I love all 3 games and have played each several times. I even have a room in my house that is loosely decorated around the theme of Bioshock (with a Lighthouse, coral models and postcards styled as though they are from both Rapture and Columbus).

And yet I am going to find it extremely difficult to get even remotely excited about any future episode in the series after all the problems this has had in its development cycle.

Leave the franchise alone. Remaster them again if you have to. Then put whatever talent you have to use on something brand new.

Furesis167d ago

Since ken levine isn't involved i'm not surprised what's going on. i'm more excited for his next game which looks like bioshock. Yet he still works under take2 and they are making bioshock 4 without him, strange situation.

toxic-inferno167d ago

Yes. Judas. Looks brilliant, but it's one of those games that seems to never have had a release date. Instead it's had release windows that keep getting pushed back.

Once it's ready, I'll be there for it though. Ken Levine is an excellent developer.

I get the feeling he dissolved Irrational Games simply so that 2k couldn't tell him what to do. It seems it will pay off, but I feel sorry for those who worked as part of Irrational before it was dissolved, who hadn't independently made a name for themselves.

ActualWhiteMan167d ago

He didn’t even want to make 2, that’s why they did it without him.

Rebel_Scum167d ago

tbh it wouldnt be a Bioshock game without development hell. They all had it.

Michiel1989166d ago

bioshock 2 was 2.5 years after 1, so much of a development hell it was......

-Foxtrot167d ago

"Remaster them again if you have to"

Well apparently they were doing a remake but that got cancelled

Relientk77167d ago

It sucks this game is in development hell because I love BioShock and would love a 4th game. I hope it turns out great, but I guess we'll see.

P_Bomb167d ago

Love Bioshock. It’s too bad what’s going on. At least we have Judas.

Yui_Suzumiya166d ago (Edited 166d ago )

It's been in development hell since 2014. This is nothing new. It saddens me because it's one of my favorite series. At this point, Judas may end up releasing first.

BABI-PANGPANG166d ago

Bioshock 4 (if it ever comes out) will probably still look and play like a Bioshock game, but without Kevin, it might miss that spark that made the originals so special. Honestly, Judas might end up feeling more like the real spiritual successor.

porkChop540d ago

It's 10 years too late for a BioShock film. The world of Rapture would have been perfect for a film. It's actually a good candidate for proper utilization of 3D, for increased depth rather than bullshit popping out of the screen. It could really show off the underwater city that way. But BioShock as a brand is so irrelevant these days that a film just doesn't make sense. Especially considering it would need a big budget and top notch effects to really take advantage of the IP.

gold_drake540d ago

i agree on the bigger budget. all the cgi they'd need for the background.

but i think it would work better as a show. a movie would be too short to establish the story

TheNamelessOne540d ago

Netflix greenlights anything, so that shows me very little faith in the project. Enough to just crap something out as they're, more and more, known to do.
