Great news! Been waiting for this.

UltraNova3460d ago (Edited 3457d ago )

Lets see how they'll play this.

Edit @thorstein

Wow, look at you flexing all those brain muscles! Mum and Dad must be real proud of you 😉

COMMENT-OF-THE-YEAR3458d ago

LOL. Reminded me of a sports reporter.

I really hope this add's some depth to the game. I loved a lot of things about No Mans Sky. The art. The idea. The vast possibilities.

Although it was a somewhat shallow experience I still really enjoyed it. I could tell like many games this generation that it might just end up being one of those games that was released to earlier and molds into something great.

That said, I am excited and looking forward to this update. I wonder what it will bring.

thorstein3458d ago

Well, I'll play it with my PS4 controller. PC players will play it with a keyboard and mouse. Now with PSVR cinematic mode, I can play it.

That's how "they'll" play it.

Irishguy953459d ago (Edited 3459d ago )

I would like the original set of features supposed to be in the game first for **** sake.

And before anyone starts: http://www.onemanslie.info/...

gigoran3459d ago

then congratulations because they already are. if your talking about the features that your mind imagined where meant to be in the game then maybe going back to sleep is best for you

S2Killinit3459d ago

why not wait and see, maybe they are correcting things?

Grap3459d ago

@gigoran
no need to imagine it's all caught on tape there were lying.

Phunkydiabetic13459d ago

Aaand here come the neckbeards.

Irishguy953459d ago

Just have a look at the link gigoran, lies and links to the vids.

Perjoss3459d ago

I really liked No Man's Sky and got about 100 hours out of it on PC, maybe I was one of the lucky ones as I had some really interesting planets to explore. Sure in a way they were all kind of similar in terms of landmarks but what can I say I just loved the scale and exploration. There was something so cool about leaving your ship behind and just walking away from it for an hour, especially on the planets that had dangerous atmospheres.

I think the 2 main complaints are firstly the lack of a real ending, something for completing the atlas path and also something cool for reaching the center of the galaxy. And then there's the lack of co-op exploration. Both of these features were mentioned by Sean during interviews but for some reason or another they were dropped before release. I recently watched the video interview where Sean says there's something amazing at the center, *spoilers lol* but there is literally nothing, you just start over again, so that's the thing I feel most disappointed about.

Irishguy953459d ago

They ain't my reasons perjoss, I just wanted...to explore space. The physics, anomalies etc...other games in the same genre did it and sean stated it would be there. What the hell is space exploration if you can't even visit a star and there isn't even any orbits..I mean Sean had a whole set of interviews focused on just those aspects! And you know...the hyperspace travel is just...a cutscene, like, it was stated it wouldn't be. Sean stated a universe. Not a load of boxes with planets and a star in the background. Thats what I was looking for.

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Sean said ^^ This woudl be in, as well as the game. Literally about 20% of what interested me about No mans sky out of all the interviews I watched of Sean...were in the released product. I din't mind if they didn't make launch! But dont' act like they will make launch when they won't.

Ikenda3459d ago (Edited 3459d ago )

Just give up dude you got your money back... leave the people who actually liked the game keep liking it, they don't care about lies because they never believed them... only naive people believe everything the publishers and developers say. See the Mass Effect 3 ending debacle......

Irishguy953459d ago

I didnt get my money back, thats why im annoyed, I played it for 4 hours before realizing the absence of features, pretty ****ing hard to play NMS for 2 hours before finding out whats missing

Ikenda3458d ago

People played that for more then 20 hours and got their money back... you played for 4 and didn't? Why? So you keep bitchin about it? Doesn't add up... And also you believed the lies they said? Something is not right... nobody is that much of a sucker... now I feel sad for you :(

Irishguy953458d ago (Edited 3458d ago )

Nobody is, yeah sure...its my fault. Blame me for having a bit of trust. Don't blame the liar. Go wank off to Sean murray Ikenda, Steams refund policy is 2 hours. Basically they told us...tough shit, deal with it. I can show you the email if you want. Other than that, I didn't expect a dev to get away with such blatant false advertising, obviously I was wrong when idiots like you can't even accept they lied.

Mass effect doesn't even come close to this. Not even close. I don't care if you enjoyed it nor did I say anything about you if you did enjoy it.

Great news?

You mean stuff which should have been at launched.

It's like people see "free update" and forget everything they've been through with this game. That'll show Hello Games for launching an incomplete game, lying about the game in interviews and going silent for months after launch when first day buyers want answers.

phantomexe3459d ago

Again fox ill say it! I got what i preordered when i payed for no man sky. I did my research and didn't bandwagon the hype. There was more then enough information out there about this game. Hell i even figured it take a minecraft approach. They told people they be updateing the game as well. You want to talk about incomplete games lets do it. I did my last gen gameing on the ps3. Why does skyrim fallout 3 and new vegas not run the way it was shown? My games are still broke. Is it ok because it's bethesda or because the xbox version were ok. That just 3 games from them. We got what we were told YouTube steamers filled in the gap of what they thought was in No man sky. I seen them do it and im not saying hello games is perfect but the media did there part. Where the troll overload he do to drop his reddit link anytime.

-Foxtrot3459d ago

Lol you guys

Total 180 now "something" has been announced

No wonder we all get treat like giant suckers from studios and publishers.

¬¬

dennigo3459d ago

@phatnomexe

where are my portals? where are the fights between factions where you can actually join one side? whare are one of the other hundreds of things that sean murray said you could do in interviews? not youtubers, no no no sean murray. still can't name my ship. haven't found one animal that's a threat they all die with ease even the big ones

phantomexe3459d ago

I have never done a 180. You can find my past comments from day one. I stand buy what i've said. Some people i'm sure have or maybe those people werent being heard. I don't change my opinions based on the Internet feelings.

zb1ftw7773459d ago

Dont get too attached, and then you wont be let down.

IamTylerDurden13459d ago

They released a ton of patches. They've been working on the game more than most developers would. As Sean said at launch, NMS is a canvas that they look forward to filling. He said there would be numerous free updates and that the game would evolve. I enjoyed the game to this point, but i always knew it would improve over time.

It's funny, you were one of the ppl screaming "why are they silent, why haven't they done anything?". Well, now they are doing something and you are still just as negative. You don't care about the game, you didn't play it, you are just trolling it bc it is loosely associated with Sony.

kraenk123459d ago

Like phantomexe said...I still don't understand what people were expecting. I kept my expectations in check and I got what I expected...the only problem I saw from the first moment on was their decision to take full price for it.

uth113459d ago

They've given answers
1. They were forced to release the game before they thought it was ready
2. Because of this, they announced free content updates post launch to bring back features they needed to strip.

They didn't need to say anything else until those updates were ready because it would do nothing but create more drama

trooper_3459d ago

Okay, so it should have been there. But they're fixing things. I'm not saying forgive them or whatever but if they're trying to turn their game around, then more power to them.

Palitera3459d ago

Yet people don't realize Hello Games is there, almost certainly lying again to make some people don't sell their used copies prior to the Christmas sales.

Gamers are idiots. Hello Games is swimming in scammed money.

_-EDMIX-_3459d ago

Except when they ever promise Base building day 1? You can't claim something that "should have" launched with a game when you actually don't know its development, I'm sorry but the team is guilty of many things in regards to mismarketing and deceiving consumers but not in the respect of this feature.

You seriously need to learn when to call out a company based on things they actually DID as opposed to stupid immature assumptions.

So they "should have" based on your imagination? Do you have a link to any real evidence to support your claim or just silly assumptions?

I'm sorry but your assumptions don't hold any real weight or value..

Mind you I've been known for criticizing Hello Games since they're very questionable release of no man sky but I'm criticizing them for what I know they did not what I assume they should have done in regards to specific features that I knew not about.

I believe Hello Games should be criticized for telling people about a list of features that were never actually in the final game and clearly was not transparent to Consumers upon release.

But I do not believe they should be criticized for a feature you just heard about....

I'm sorry but you need to stop making up in your little imaginary mind what you think a final game needs to actually be, unless the team is telling you this before release, it holds no real Merit and it simply is a stupid assumption.

In my opinion and clearly law, the final game simply needs to entail everything that the team promised up until final release to actually be in the game.

Christopher3458d ago

Base building was never an at release feature, though.

And, while I get not acting as if this solves all the issues in the game and fixes all the launch lies, you have to admit your comment is the opposite where you aren't accepting things being improved at all.

You can't have your cake and eat it as well. Lots of you guys need to learn to live in the middle rather than the extreme nether regions.

-Foxtrot3458d ago

Look I give up here

A studio promised a shit load of features before released. The game releases without the majority of them. The final game is a letdown and is completely lacking. People complain.

However suddenly we get one update and because it's free..."oh good going Hello Games, despite not releasing what you originally hyped up and promised for years at least this small update is free".

Sure it might not have been a massive featured promised for launch but the fact is there's hardly anything they did say was coming included anyway so any kind of content for this game should have been there at launch with how lacking the final game is.

No no but it's fine, lube yourselves up for them. I'm sure in 2-3 years time when it's gotten most of the content promised you'll all say how it was the best game ever ¬¬

zaherdab3458d ago

Still with the bashing for every other game ?
It's a positive piece of news ... at least they are trying to make it up for people ...

subtenko3458d ago

you mean at least theyre doing something about it instead of not which would be bad news?

Next time someone corrects something for you (maybe like your netflix bill or something) I hope they renig their correction because of your relentless negative attitude

Christopher3456d ago

****No no but it's fine, lube yourselves up for them. I'm sure in 2-3 years time when it's gotten most of the content promised you'll all say how it was the best game ever ¬¬***

Don't own or care for the game.

The fact is this, we know they didn't deliver. You continuing to harp on it and act as if there is no room for any praise in a free update doesn't change that nor does it do anything at all to note that it's not always bad news. But, all you want to do, even in the face of a little good news after months of silence, at least good news to those who are actually still playing the game, is just once again to remind people of the same thing they already know. But, this news isn't about that, it's about what they actually are doing.

Yes, Hello Games had a shitty release and disappointed a ton of people. Yes, they haven't added in a lot of what people think they should have had at release. But, also, yes, this update is adding a lot of things that improve the game from what it is and is a sign of them actually looking to improve the game.

This game isn't going to go down in history as one of the greatest games at release (probably one of the most hated), but it could down as a game that was finally made great over time. Those two things can both be true. It's up to Hello Games to do it and this update shows a sign that they are actually trying to make a better game.

It's as simple as that. It's not just you posting over and over how they lied to people. That's only part of the story. They are more than just that, or at least they could be if they continue to update the game.

I agree. This is awesome news.

xer03459d ago

Well i have the game, so it won't hurt to see where the Foundation update takes us :)

UnHoly_One3459d ago

I can't figure out why anyone wants to build a base when you'll leave the planet and never return, but maybe they have some way of making it work that I'm not thinking of.

SaveFerris3460d ago

I'm confused by this. On the one hand, it's great that Hello Games continues to update NMS, but how does base building fit into the game when the goal was to travel to the centre of the galaxy or the Atlas ending? Is it for players that never want to leave a particular planet? In any case, I'm hoping for sandworms.

UltraNova3459d ago

Well you can watch Dune until then ;-)

SaveFerris3459d ago

He who controls the Spice, controls the universe!

Deadpooled3459d ago

Or maybe he's looking for a Sarlacc pit

Goldby3459d ago

For all we know base bulding maybe a space base. I personally would prefer that over building a base on a planet

Rimeskeem3459d ago

True, allows a 360 degrees of freedom

Summons753459d ago

That's probably what they will promise with guns and multiple ships and inviting friends over and then deliver a tiny dollar store model base that can only be placed on a habitable planet....which all the planets are either too hot or too cold or has some sort of environmental hazard and all of them are uninhabitable.

Goldby3459d ago

@summons.

Didnt you learn from launch not to hype up NMS.

Rimeskeem3459d ago

I assume they wanted people to explore at first but now that has gotten old so they need to add something like base building. Finding that perfect planet might be hard though ;).

iceman063458d ago

It was something that many of the people who purchased the game wanted. It was a common "complaint". My thinking is that people wanted the game to be like Subnautica (game based on underwater survival, exploration, and base building).
Personally, I'd rather they focus on more diversity and biodiversity of planets (which can be tweaked with their algorithm) because that is my favorite part of the game. But, I won't get all worked up over other changes.

mixelon3459d ago

I'm hoping for jump gates in space near planets.. (like Babylon 5) for fast travel between key places so you can always return to your base. Possibly teleporters within space stations or atlas thingies leading to your base too. Makes a lot of sense to be able to bookmark your favourite planet/s for later return and making a home.

SaveFerris3458d ago

Perhaps the update will activate the portals (shown in some of the trailers)? I got excited when I discovered my first portal, then disappointment set in when it didn't work at all.

Germany73459d ago

I will not play this game anymore, but it's good if you want to try, i suppose.

ElectricFeel3459d ago

Nice, hoping they'll be adding a lot to this game in the future.

thorstein3459d ago

Nice. They said they would work on it and they are. Great to know.
