What does the Overwatch PS4 Pro patch actually do?

Eurogamer: There was some excitement when Blizzard announced that PS4 Pro support had been implemented for its superb shooter, Overwatch. This was quickly followed by confusion when it appeared that the enhancements added were minimal to say the least. Indeed, to the naked eye, improvements during fast-paced action seem almost non-existent. Well, after breaking down the new update, we think it's fair to say that it's certainly one of the least impressive Pro upgrades seen to date.

Does it really matter if its not as a big difference like other game pro patches. As long as the game still good.

it should matter if people are buying a ps4 pro expecting it to be better than the regular ps4.

Does it really matter much though?! People are expecting X1 version to look considerably worse but still buy them.

Perjoss3462d ago

It is better than the regular PS4, and Sony already clearly stated that not all currently released games would be getting Pro patches. So anyone expecting more than the titles that have been announced should better inform themselves.

You are right, but this is on Blizzard. Do not throw your salt at Sony. The console is there. What the devs choose to do is their choice

that's why one costs less, you can buy an xbox one s with games bundled for a lot less than a ps4 pro and less than a ps4.

that doesn't mean people are not able to voice their opinions on lazy devs.

I though Blizzard could either use checkerboard to reach 4k or make the game native 4k. I mean, Overwatch is 1080p and 60 FPS on OG PS4. I though the extra juice could do even more.

Maybe this is Blizzard using teb same parity Bs they did with PC gamers and their monitors.

They should at least pushed it to 1440p if not beyond that. Weird they didn't.

Nintendo Switch 2 Drops Must-Play Free FPS You Can Enjoy From Today

In 2023, developed by Blizzard Entertainment, Overwatch 2 was released, which was basically a big, glorified update of the original game that launched in 2016. Now, it’s simply reverted to being called just Overwatch, which is probably for the best.

The second iteration of Overwatch was released on the original Nintendo Switch, and while it’s still an enjoyable game with cross-play/progression functions, it’s still lacking in terms of performance and visuals, compared to its PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S counterparts. Well, it was.

As of today, the second iteration of Overwatch is natively available on the Nintendo Switch 2, just in time for Season 2: Summit.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Overwatch will have increased resolution both in handheld and docked modes, enhanced textures and lighting, up to 60 frames-per second, improved audio and more.

Blizzard is readying a patch to address the issue that the game is still running in Switch 1 build and just 30 fps.

Neonridr29d ago

you'd think they'd test it before pushing it live, lol.

that being said, clearly it's not running as intended.

repsahj29d ago

They know it for sure. Maybe they didn't finish optimizing the game by the targeted release date. That's why they released the Switch 1 30fps version first. XD
