PS4 Pro TV Connection Problems: LG Responds

Here’s LG’s response in all its magnificent brevity: “LG will provide a solution via a software upgrade at the end of November.”

LG’s response appears to back up PlayStation’s claims that blame for the connection issues lies at the door of the TV manufacturers, not the PS4 Pro.

Eonjay3467d ago

"LG’s response appears to back up PlayStation’s claims that blame for the connection issues lies at the door of the TV manufacturers, not the PS4 Pro."

How is this even a question because if it wasn't then all TVs would be affected.

Nitrowolf23467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

It's was because people called sony, Sony directed them to LG, LG directed them back to sony

You know, the normal customer service loop

Eonjay3466d ago

Aww. Yes. Good old customer service. And often their voice recognition automated systems are even worse. I actually lost my dam mind one time.

3466d ago
XanderZane3466d ago

We call that the "blame game". Life ain't good.

DivineAssault 3466d ago

@ Shin,
Yes, exactly.. If it werent for us early adopters, these issues wouldnt be resolved so others know what to do if they run into problems.. Now whoever does buy a year or later can easily find a solution online.. I myself havent ran into any issues luckily.. Im hearing of systems overheating and warping the plastic shell too.. I really hope that doesnt happen.. Ill be leaving mine completely off when im done playing until this problem is fixed too..

Tapani3466d ago

@Shin-Zantetsuken

Your purchasing strategy is not certainly a bad way to be, however, I would view PS4 Pro as very much a perfected PS4 product. They took their "perfected" design (including better power consumption, better cooling in the box, better yields on chips etc.) and supercharged it with a great balance and compatibility.

I'd say PS4 Pro, even at launch, is your perfected design of the PS4 right now and worth a buy at launch.

Its a mixture of both or the LG TV's wouldnt work properly with any other console either.

Didnt think of that when you wrote your piece did ya !!!

subtenko3466d ago

If i make a console with hdmi and vga I/O but the tv has a butched up hdmi port thats not on me, thats the tv people to fix that up.

Tussin1873466d ago

I have an LG and it's fine. It's 4k but not HDR. I guess I lucked out.

S2Killinit3466d ago

I have one like that as well. I love my LG and the magic wand, but im thinking about switching it with my parents Sony tv that does have HDRas well.

XanderZane3466d ago

I'm sticking with Samsung. They haven't failed me yet.

IamTylerDurden13466d ago

The update occured yesterday for me. All good now. It was LGs problem.

My LG uh950v has worked okay, but i'm now totally p!$$ed off and at my wits end and i'm now 'possibly' returning my console to get it replaced for another.

I have had nothing but technical problems since i got it on launch day. Ranging from overheating, fan sounding like a hoover, screen not recognizing my hdmi, to Rise of The Tomb Raider constantly freezing and crashing the system when played in 4k. It crashed earlier after only a minutes play of Lara's Nightmare which has now become my nightmare.

I'm not being critical of the system itself, nor it's games or it's capabilities, i'm just a tad upset at being one of the unlucky ones who has been 'possibly' sold a defective unit, which 'may' have to be replaced.

Edit - I have to be very very clear on this issue regarding my PS4 Pro overheating and fan noise. Originally my console was placed in a large open audio visual unit below my television alongside other AV equipment such as my satellite box and UHD player. I subsequently isolated my Pro to another location and since then it has run whisper quiet and cool to the touch.

Lastly there may in fact turn out to be no fault whatsoever with my PS4 Pro as the issues may turn out to be -

Perhaps a fault occurred when i transferred my original PS4 data onto the Pro?
Perhaps a fault with glitched/buggy software?
I seem to get this error repeatedly CE-363-29-3?

Finally i'm not trying to besmirch the console in any way whatsoever as it's absolutely astounding playing games in hdr 4k. I'm just a little miffed that i'm one of a select, thankfully very few, having technical issues which are not helped by talking to someone in a call centre with limited grasp of English reading from a script.

@@ Edit - I have now discovered the problem was a software issue which occurred when i transferred my original PS4 data onto the Pro last week. The PlayStation Pro console was 100% NOT at fault here whatsoever and is working absolutely fine as it should.

Neonridr3467d ago

yeah, these things happen unfortunately. Hopefully you get your unit replaced with one that functions as it should. Mine has been perfectly fine since hooking it up, however I don't have a 4K TV yet so I haven't really had a chance to put it through its paces.

DerekFlint0073467d ago

Cheers, thanks Neon. Currently as i type this, i'm on hold trying to get through by telephone on PlayStation technical support helpline. Current wait time 20 mins.

I'm not sure if it's a problem with the console itself or Tomb Raider bugging out as my other games have worked okay, but if i do indeed have a defective unit, i want to get it replaced quickly in case my warranty runs out and i'm stuck with it.

Kingthrash3603467d ago

I've had no problems with mine at all, I'm sure it was a faulty console...I know it's shi**y to have this happen tho.
To cheer you up, my roommate ordered his online...ups delivered it too early, left it at the door and someone stole it.
Seeing that the delivery window was between 5pm-7pm and it was dropped off at 11am and they left it outside when it required a signature I say the ups guy stole it.

Nitrowolf23467d ago

You have a year warrenty with Sony, so you'll be fine.

Mines been good, though I've yet to play tomb raider but all my other games it runs silent

DerekFlint0073467d ago (Edited 3466d ago )

Just got off the phone to the lady who said to rebuild the data base and if the game still freezes, return the console to the retailer.

My other Pro enhanced games have all run fine which leads me to believe that it's perhaps a software bug in the game itself causing it to crash in 4k mode? as i have seen other users have the same problems with the game.

Edit - I have rebuilt the data base and it's still crashing and freezing. So i have been one of the unlucky ones.

Cheers and thanks Nitro for the info Nitro and for cheering me up Kingthrash

Edit 2 - it's not just 4k mode, it crashed again in the enhanced framerate mode.

The CE-36329-3 is an error with the systems software. So the problem has occurred in either my copy of Tomb Raider or it occurred when i transferred my original PS4 save data onto my new Pro.

My PlayStation Pro is NOT at fault here and is 100% working as it should.

@ starman below, i agree, it's a brilliant game. I'm at the very end of the campaign and i've thoroughly enjoyed it.

IamTylerDurden13466d ago

If Tomb Raider is the only game having the problem...perhaps it's a problem with Tomb Raider?

Starman693466d ago

Runs awsome!! What a f**king game!!! 9.6 from me.

DerekFlint0073466d ago

I have perhaps used the wrong word. What i was trying to say was, i'm just a bit worried that after a certain amount of time the retailer may or may not take back the purchase. I have looked at their faulty returns policy and i'm fine.

The real problem that i have is that i'm not sure if it's a faulty console or early teething problems with buggy software or perhaps another issue such as a fault occurred when i transferred my original PS4 data?

The problem is not helped by trying to have a technical conversation, with an albeit very pleasant Indian lady, with limited English, obviously reading from a script in a call centre.

Teflon023467d ago

Never tried Tomb Raider on mine yet, but I can say I've literally never heard my systems fans being loud at all while playing Ratchet, Battlefield 1 etc. I do intend to get rottr but I'm almost 100% it's faulty my consoles almost always on when I'm home and the fans so quiet I alway go close to make sure it doesn't have a faulty fan that's not working because my original ps4 started getting like a engine after like a year and a half

DerekFlint0073466d ago (Edited 3390d ago )

Teflon02 this overheating and noisy jet fan sound occurred over the first few days when i had my PS4 Pro in a large open furniture unit along with my other AV equipment such as satellite box and uhd player.

I isolated my Pro altogether, to a separate, more open location and since then, the problem has been fixed and my Pro runs as whisper quiet as a church mouse.

Edit - I have now discovered the problem was a software issue which occurred when i transferred my original PS4 data onto the Pro last week. The PlayStation Pro console was 100% NOT at fault whatsoever and is working absolutely fine. ##### - it turned out my ps4 Pro was faulty - Sony replaced with a brand new console - works perfectly now

Bro buy a Xbox S instead

MasterCornholio3466d ago (Edited 3466d ago )

He bought a Pro because he wanted a system that was more powerful than his PS4 and he wanted to continue in Sonys ecosystem.

Buying an Xbox One S would be a downgrade from his PS4 in some ways.

@Voodoo

I said in some ways. When talking about power to play games the Xbox One S is weaker than the base PS4.

I doubt he bought the PS4 Pro to watch UHD movies. Gaming to him is more important which is why he chose the Pro over the S.

@Derek

That was just mean.

VoodooProject3466d ago

Not a downgrade if the Xbox One S has a 4k UHD Blu-ray drive. That's a upgrade.

DashArrivals3466d ago

That would be a waste of money. Might as well get into PC gaming. Xbox has no exclusives. Playstation has a boat load. Have a nice day

Aenea3466d ago (Edited 3466d ago )

Why? Because he got unlucky and got a faulty system?

Did all the 360 people who got RROD move on to the PS3?

Silly stuff...

------
@voodoo

Yes, it's an upgrade if you watch blurays on your GAMING device, if you don't then it's a massive downgrade! Even the original PS4 is more powerful....

Your absolutely right Nu, i could do with a doorstop.

MasterCornholio3466d ago (Edited 3466d ago )

Defects always suck. It's unfortunate that you have one. But luckily it isn't a widespread issue with the system.

DerekFlint0073466d ago (Edited 3466d ago )

Cheers and many thanks Master. After doing a bit of detective work, the thing i have found is, i'm repeatedly getting the error code CE-36329-3.

I have narrowed it down to a few things.

1 - being unlucky and getting a detective unit from production line?
2 - Rise of The Tomb Raider is bugged and glitched in 4k mode?
3 - a problem occurred when i transferred my original PS4 data onto my new Pro?

After looking around the web, i have sadly noticed that i am not alone in having system crashes.

Lastly i am not in any way shape or form trying to smear the new console as in my opinion it's incredible, however i'm simply trying to inform users of my experience and that technical issues are there hopefully for a very minuscule group, but they do exist.

Edit - it was a software issue and NOT a problem with my PlayStation Pro which is 100% working as it should. The problem occurred when i transferred my original PS4 data onto the Pro last week.

mogwaii3466d ago

Bummer but it happens with every electronic equipment, theres always a failure rate, i got it with original ps4 ejecting disks.

DerekFlint0073466d ago (Edited 3466d ago )

Cheers and many thanks mogwaii, it's just one of those things.

I'll get a replacement soon enough. It's an absolutely jaw dropping incredible experience playing games in hdr 4k, which is why i'm just a smidgeon miffed that i'm one of the few having technical issues.

Edit - I have now discovered the problem was a software issue which occurred last week when i transferred my original PS4 data onto the Pro. My PlayStation Pro console is 100% working fine.

Artemidorus3466d ago

You are not allowed to discuss negative thoughts on the Playstation Pro the millennials will not allow it.

All the best on a replacement.

DerekFlint0073466d ago

Cheers and many thanks Elda. I have subsequently found out that it was a software issue which occurred last week when i transferred my original PS4 data onto the Pro. I have managed to get it all fixed. The PS4 Pro console was not at fault whatsoever.

Can someone tell me if the pro is louder or does it run hot compared to the standard Ps4 as I live in a place where I am expecting 40c regularly through summer .

343_Guilty_Spark3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

It's definitely louder and hotter. Sounds like a jet engine at times.

Mrveryodd3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

Thanks bud , and thanks for the honest answer😀

MasterCornholio3467d ago (Edited 3466d ago )

Well that's compared to the Slim model that you use to own. The Slim PS4 is actually quieter than the XB1S but it's louder than the original XB1.

The launch models are the loudest PS4s but the Pro is quieter and cooler than those.

Also the Pro doesn't have overheating issues like the 360 did. You don't have to worry about a meltdown with that system.

@Ziggurcat

Your right about ventilation. These are gaming consoles and not Blu-ray players. They tend to produce quite a bit of heat and thus need good ventilation.

343 really should ventilate his systems better. Not only will it run quieter, but it will also last longer.

Aenea3466d ago

Compared to the Slim perhaps, but certainly not to my launch model PS4, yikes, that thing was annoyingly loud and I can barely hear the Pro even when playing Pro optimised games!

ziggurcat3466d ago (Edited 3466d ago )

@343:

No, it's not louder/hotter than the original PS4. If you're comparing it to the slim, yes, I imagine the Pro runs a little warmer, and slightly louder than that SKU.

And jet engine is an exaggeration -I've heard the fan kick in playing battlefield, but it's barely audible. It also looks like there's not a lot of airflow around the Pro in your photo. If it's sounding like a jet engine, and running hot, you might want to consider moving it to a spot that allows for more heat dissipation/ventilation.

Sparta073466d ago

@ guilty nice picture who's console is that? Your friends? Or your brothers? If you had a PRO you would know that is quieter and cooler then the original PS4.

madpuppy3466d ago

I live in Florida and it runs fine, I have never heard the fans and the console itself just chugs along for hours on end without any issues at all.

1nsomniac3466d ago

My Pro is definitely quieter & cooler than my launch PS4 by a long way but then it's also not 3 years(?) old.

Cmv383466d ago

I honestly have not heard a sound from my pro outside of ejecting a disk.

Stwert3466d ago

The only thing I notice noise wise from my Pro is the disc spinning and that's hardly loud, don't notice it above the sound volume once the games started, so no complaints there at all. Mine is in a well ventilated space so that probably helps it to stay nice and quiet.

Sparta073466d ago

Don't listen to guilty he's just spreading lies. I actually have a PRO and is a lot quieter then the original PS4 and cooler. Just ask anybody the actually has one.

:)

P.S

Reading some other comments from Pro owners it sounds like you might have a defective unit. If it runs noisy with all games and produces a ton of heat you might have to exchange it. I've seen some sound measurements and temperature measurements and it never gets extremely hot and/or noisy.

343_Guilty_Spark3466d ago

Yea I do but it works fine with the Xbox One S.

I have the LG50UH5500

Gamist2dot03466d ago

I wouldn't be surprised that your Pro would sound loud since you placed it in a compartment that looks to have limited ventilation. I have a TV stand with similar compartments but the Pro sits on the top surface with plenty of ventilation so it's pretty quiet.

IamTylerDurden13466d ago (Edited 3466d ago )

What IS pathetic is 343 lying to this guy so he doesn't buy a Pro. Look online at professional reviewers and most will mention how quiet and surprisingly cool Pro runs. Thermal tests were conducted and it isn't even hotter than the OG PS4. Mine is quiet and cool. His name is 343 as in the Halo studio, i wonder if he favors xbox?

MasterCornholio3466d ago

"Yea I do but it works fine with the Xbox One S.

I have the LG50UH5500"

Well this is what LG says.

"Here’s LG’s response in all its magnificent brevity: “LG will provide a solution via a software upgrade at the end of November.” "

So if it can be fixed via a firmware update on their TVs then the PS4 Pro isn't really at fault here.

Sparta073466d ago (Edited 3466d ago )

Guilty stop lying!! Lol
That's not yours. Who are you the next rookie!? He did the same he take a picture of his friends console and posted on here like it was his. ziggurcat3466d ago

to everyone saying 343 doesn't have a Pro: I see no reason to doubt that he owns one, and you're only making PS owners look silly by accusing him of lying.

on topic:

@343: How are you connecting the Pro to your TV? directly or through a receiver? I've heard some of the 4K TVs only have one port that supports HDCP 2.2, and I know some of the earlier receivers that support HDCP 2.2 only have (at most) a couple of HDMI ports that you can use. I have a receiver that supports 4K, but not HDCP 2.2, so I either have to buy a new receiver or connect my Pro, and Xbox One S to my TV, and run an optical from the TV to my receiver for the audio when I get a 4K TV.

343_Guilty_Spark3465d ago

Directly through tvs hdmi ports. They all support 2.2. But I'll just wait for the firmware update.

Bigpappy3466d ago

Wow. It's amazing how PS fans are offloading on 343 for saying he has had negative experiences with his PS4 pro. I would think the others would be giving support, but instead everyone goes in to Sony defense mode.

DashArrivals3466d ago

It's because he's full of it and spreading obvious lies. He's obviously lying. Dude, he's a known troll. Just like Rookie_Monster. There are a few of them and they are reverse trolls or stealth trolls. I'm sure there are few PS fanboy trolls just like them that troll Xbox articles, but I wouldn't know because I don't 'troll' Xbox articles. I just don't read them or their comments.

"I have an Xbox 1 S... it's so hot I can fry an egg on it. Please help me. What do I do? It also sounds like a race car with no muffler. Here is a photo of my console with my name on it. Why am I having these problems? Microsoft better life their game. They need more exclusives. I want more new IP instead of the same crap over and over again. I might as well go to PC gaming. It feels like there are just no exclusive games anymore."

343_Guilty_Spark3465d ago (Edited 3465d ago )

I travelled back to my hometown to visit family. My parents also have a LG 4k set and had the same issue. I changed the settings on the Ps4 pro to HDCP 1.4 in safe mode and it worked fine. The unit is in a much more ventilated area but it's still somewhat loud. I think it's mostly just the disk drive. Still I enjoy it. I played Until Dawn last night (no patch coming unfortunately) and that was fun. The Last of Us remastered is amazing. Ratchet is soooo damn fun I cant put it down. Bloodborne...geesh the framerate, aliasing, and pacing is awful...I can't play it....not even going to try....definitely not my kind of Hack n Slash.

Benchm4rk3466d ago

It took 2 updates and 2 months from my TV manufacturer to get 4K and then HDR to work for my Xbox One S. Hopefully when I pick up my PS4 Pro it works straight away other wise ill be waiting another 2 months for an update.

Funny considering Bruce left half way through development and now we get told there was an internal conflict with the story direction.

Makes you think…

HectixRose19d ago

I think it was good decision, if he was still alive, he would have been a mascot just like Kratos, drake and many others. These old dudes gotta die for new characters to take center stage with their own storyline. They keep dragging the emotional baggage into many sequels and eventually the story just turns into absolute shit show.

JEECE19d ago

It was ironic because people complained heavily about the story in the Uncharted games not having sufficient stakes because all the key characters always survived, despite the dangerous situations they were always in. Then ND killed a character in a more serious series and everyone lost their minds. Just shows that people don't always really want the thing they say they want.

CantThinkOfAUsername18d ago

I thought the more common complaint about Uncharted franchise was how the main cast are the good guys acting so nonchalantly while killing hundreds in cold blood (aka the dissonance between gameplay and story cutscenes). They just did it again in Part II.

Soy19d ago

Didn't have to kill him. Just have them part ways or Joel can "retire," whatever.

DarXyde18d ago

I don't think he would necessarily need to become a mascot (and besides, technically, I'd say Ellie is... So regardless, someone was going to be).

From a narrative perspective, I do think it has a similar effect to Ricky dying in Boyz N Da Hood: very likeable character, and you're really motivated to see the get back—in this case, it's more intense because it's an interactive experience. Most people hated Abby, but I get what they were after with portraying the cycle of violence and revenge—unfortunately, the game appears to want to take the side of the bad people.

But I will say that if Joel survived, it does become harder to tell an interesting story. What COULD have happened is an exploration into the rift between Joel and Ellie after the trolley dilemma events of the first game. It could have been interesting to see Abby out for revenge at the same time Ellie hated Joel.

Ashunderfire8618d ago

Sorry just had to say this lol! RICKYYYY!

Man Cuba Gooding Jr was miscast in that movie, but that part was cringey it was sad and funny at the same time man.

I understand but the way they went about killing Joel, was poorly executed. Even the show of the Last of Us games tried to improved it, but it was just as bad. Well at least Joel got to know the reason why he had to die, before the death happened in the show. That part gave us the full context, but the game just let it happen with no pay off.

Joel death should have been a midway thing through the story, so we at least get to play him a little more with Ellie. Abby didn’t need to be this Hulk looking woman, but more like the show Abby which is a beater idea in my opinion.

The only ND game that was so disappointing to me I couldn't finish it.

Honestly as much as I loved the game, they could have just not killed him off.
I get it creator vision and all but killing a character that made you millions is just wrong imo. At least have him go down fighting.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted
