VGChartz' William D'Angelo writes: "The Nintendo 3DS in 2016 sold an estimated 7.03 million units, a four percent decrease year-over-year, to bring its lifetime sales to 63.33 million units. 51.74 million games were sold at retail on the Nintendo 3DS in 2016 and has now sold 276.55 million games lifetime.
"The Nintendo 3DS proved most successful in USA, however, it also sold well in Europe and Japan. It sold 2.39 million units in the US, 2.09 million units in Europe, and 1.93 million units in Japan.
"Eight games for the console in 2016 managed to sell over one million units and 21 games sold more than 500,000 units."
