CryEngine 1 Vs CryEngine 2: Past To Present

GameXtract writes "The CryEngine 2 was like a gift from god, except the gift had a few holes. The engine brought photo realistic games like Crysis into our world, but like many angry PC gamers the hardware demand was horrid, and the game would crash beyond belief. CryEngine 1 also delivered stunning animations for its time. The islands generated by the CryEngines were simply the best of their generation. Now with both engines released, and games to showcase their powers, comparisons is a good way to show just how far we have gone from the 1st CryEngine to the 2nd in a matter of years. After the jump we have comparisons screenshots of similar moments in FarCry, and Crysis. This is not a competition for which game is more epic than the other, but to simply see the amazing progress between the engines. Get all the comparisons after the jump!"

I wonder if they'll go way back to where the story started w/ weird animal-like genetic mutations. I don't think the current games even try to tie back to that origin, or at least I don't see any attempt to...

I think this series should feel like an Anthology like the games. Every season a new setting with new set of characters.

Urgh. Learning the wrong lessons from something as always

Currently playing FC4 for the first time. On the plus side, the 60fps update is great. On the down side, the multiplayer is the weakest part. Just chatting in the lobbies, ppl were only doing it for the online trophies. I don’t know that anybody really wants more of that.

so much fun, i hope they make a vr mod for crysis 2 / 3 too!

This is amazing. This is the direction VR should go in to boost adoption. Since I have beaten every Crysis except 1, this is now a good excuse to correct that problem.
