They should since the game is so popular.

freshslicepizza3476d ago

so should bloodborne since so many are asking for it and sony does have some say about that game. the more games that get patched the better value the ps4 pro offers. right now there aren't that many games that are pro enabled.

kevnb3476d ago

Someone has to be paid to do it, Grand theft auto 5 is still selling and still has a dev team adding multi-player content but bloodborne is done.

Game needs 60fps for online. I think it's ridiculous that people are saying fps change for online isn't allowed for the pro. pc gamers who have better hardware get different fps for online and it works out fine. Ps4 version of GTA 5 online is super laggy at times like 20fps.

akiraburn3476d ago

I completely agree, and framerate is one of the points of concern I have moving forward. The biggest reason that I bought a Pro was for improved framerates moving forward on 1080p titles, and this would be a prime example of a game that deserves it. I think when Digital Foundry was running their base tests on this game with their theoretical Neo hardware based on the specs that had leaked, it seemed entirely feasible that 60 fps was not only possible, but they could have it nearly consistent at 60 with several other improvements.

A lot of people feel that creating a higher framerate in 30 fps multiplayer titles would cause an unfair advantage. Though I would argue that there are already many other factors that could create that imbalance in the console environment, so this really shouldn't be a restriction. People who are willing to pay for better network hardware (router and modem), as well as paying for better internet service packages for the best connection possible (or even having specific ISPs available that allow faster connections), paying for premium controllers (driving wheels, arcade sticks, SCUF controllers, etc), and several other related things will each tend to offer some advantages because the people who want these benefits are willing to shell out more money. Even with the PS4 Pro, one of Sony's own features gives an advantage, with the USB mode for the controllers offering a lower input lag than the base PS4.

It is for these reasons, combined with the fact that developers are allowed to smooth out previously rough framerates with Pro (unlocked 60 fps titles that dip down to 40 are allowed to run at a stable 60, or 30 fps titles that dropped to 20 could run at a locked 30), and the fact that better resolution, draw distance, and various other technical improvements which could effect gameplay are allowed to be updated, makes me wonder why they imposed this specific mandate.

Like you had mentioned, various framerates already co-exist in the PC environment, with some people playing at 144Hz while others play under 60 or even closer to 30. It's all about what people are interested in and willing to pay for. The Pro is a gaming enthusiast targeted device, so instead of just leaving everything to the developers and putting restrictions on how framerate can be implemented, I want them to treat it as an enthusiast device and actually push devs to offer a 60 fps mode in 1080p.

Maybe that's hoping for too much, but seeing some games like Rise of the Tomb Raider on the Pro running at an average 40 fps when in the unlocked framerate mode, and others like Deus Ex getting some relatively consistent 20 fps dips is really disappointing to me. Just provide a solid 60 fps at 1080p and no lower than a solid 30 at 4K, and even if everything else looks the same or marginally better than the base PS4 version, I think that would make a lot of people very happy. If nothing else, I really hope this becomes a standard option.

I agree with your comment man

lipton1013476d ago

Wayyyy too long. Come on man. Some of us play call of duty and don't have the attention span to read a comment of such massive proportions

akiraburn3476d ago

Haha, sorry Lipton. But for those who want a tl;dr version... there's already a lot of variables that could create an advantage - see above for those points. Framerate is important to a lot of gamers and is a problematic area with games right now. They're allowing devs to improve everything in their games, except they're not allowed to push multiplayer games that were intended to stick at 30 fps to framrates above that. Since this is an enthusiast device, and that myriad of other variables already exist that will give advantages if people are willing to pay for them, then why not allow devs (or even encourage them) to make a proper 60 fps mode on multiplayer as well?

GTA 5 for the PS4 was only a remaster from the PS3 version so an upgraded version would be so bad ass!

C-H-E-F3475d ago (Edited 3475d ago )

correction remastered from the PC sku both xbox one and ps4 came from PC. :D

andrewsquall3475d ago

Correction correction, its just a port for the console. Nowhere does GTA V for PS4 say "Remastered" on the front of the box. The same way Tekken Tag Tournament 2 for Wii U wasn't "Remastered" either, it was a simple port.

Err the PC version of GTA V still came later after PS4 and Xbone versions.

spoonard3473d ago (Edited 3473d ago )

GTA V for the Xbone and PS4 are remasters, sorry to bust any bubbles here...

Playing GTAV 60fps on my alienware alpha at 1080P was a visual treat seemed too real in 1st person view.If rockstar update for pro with a 60fps framerate you will notice the diffrence and it would be hard to go back to 30

PlayStation Store’s top downloads of 2025

O'Dell Harmon Jr. writes: "Before we say goodbye to 2025, let’s take a look back and see what were the most downloaded games of the year. It was a great time for sports, shooters, and some new PlayStation VR2 games. Sports favorites topped the charts in US/Canada and EU, with NBA 2K26 and EA Sports FC26, respectively.

Juggernaut GTA V found a home in the top three for both regions, with new 2025 release Battlefield 6 claiming second place in the US. Fortnite took top place for free-to-play games, and Beat Saber continues its PS VR2 success."

FH5 4th in Europe compared to North America 14th. Not surprising.

LucasRuinedChildhood127d ago

I think it shows how shortsighted it was for Sony to let go of Evolution and not get them to make some sort of competitor (open world Driveclub?) 10 years ago.

bionicstar127d ago (Edited 127d ago )

its a hard bet to make. hindsight is always 20/20.

Christopher127d ago

After Driveclub's reception, hard to say it would have done well enough to compete. It's easy to dream of such a thing, but to make it happen? It's taken how long for CoD to be dethroned? And it was dethroned by Hogwart's Legacy and has gained it right back just the next year.

It’s funny to watch the only games EU and USA agree on was Minecraft and back ops 7 both regions on 6 and 7 spot respectively other than that FIFA rules EU

gold_drake127d ago

I would like to see a list that has both free to play and paid games together, but at least we have this.

To this day GTA5 is a top downloaded game and it makes me wonder if the industry is really ready for GTA6. I imagine almost nothing else will sell during that game's release window.

I’ve never played Fortnite GTAV or CoD BO7 but I do own GTAV for PS4/5 because I got them cheap.

gold_drake135d ago

i think we should either take those games out, or make a singleplayer list too ha

badboyz09135d ago

I still play gta V alot. The others nah.

Popsicle135d ago

This is why we can’t have nice things.

Tacoboto135d ago

What exactly are we not getting?

Did we not just have a 2025 filled with nice games like...

Silksong, Doom TDA, Expedition 33, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Ghost of Yotei, Dispatch, Split Fiction, Hades 2, DK Bananza, and so many more?

Popsicle135d ago

Agree that all you just posted are great games. Expedition 33 is one of my favorites. Spent a large chunk of time on BG3 in 2023. Another for my all-time list.

My point though not well articulated in the OG post is that we would get more of the games of the quality you mentioned if so many valuable resources were not allocated to FTP slop and/or heavy monetization schemes. Some of what used to be my favorite franchises have been ruined by them.

To sum it up, I would like to see games like 33 outperform the profits made by games like Fortnite so more resources are allocated to great games. When heavily monetized FTP games are at the top of the list, we end up being stuck with a significant chunk of games that are not good. Or worst case scenario games that spend years in development, but get cancelled due to industry trend chasing.

cloganart135d ago

Such a pessimistic view. This year gave so many good games.

Christopher135d ago

Popsicle, I actually think we're getting more great games because of the slop. Developers are seeing that people aren't happy and taking advantage of big AAA studios not delivering for people.

Popsicle135d ago (Edited 135d ago )

Perhaps, and I hope you’re right. A shift is needed IMO
