Why Hitman's Release Schedule is Genius

Earlier this week, Hitman Season 2 was confirmed during an interview at PGW. This season will feature new areas, new elusive targets and escalation missions, and certain areas may be revisited. This news is not only incredibly exciting, but also very validating, proving that the controversial release schedule utilized for this release is working and is profitable.

I could never support a single player game that requires always online just to play. Anybody who supports that business practice is a corporate shill.

JayPi33476d ago

Amen to this, I play single player to get away from having to connect online for everything.

WOLFofWALLSTREET3476d ago

Ya longtime Hitman fan, but I refused to buy this bullcrap.

freshslicepizza3476d ago

why does it require a connection?

I believe it's to verify that you legitimately purchased the game. But, everyone is right in that having the online connection severely limits how much of the game is available to you, which does affect the enjoyment of the game. Sure, you can play offline, it is possible. However, additional content you receive from missions such as weapon and gear will not be available to you. Contracts mode and challenges are also locked out for you, and challenges are the only way to unlock additional gear, because you need points for "Level Mastery". Essentially, offline mode leaves you with a base game where the only basic gear is available to you. Additional starting disguises, starting mission locations and smuggle points are also locked out for you. Even if you unlocked that content while you were online and decide to play offline the next time you boot it up, that content will be locked out to you. Not only this, but having the constant connection to online will also slow down the game. Loading the game and loading previous saves used to be way too long. This has been patched to be a bit shorter, but unfortunately it's still noticeable that the load times are a tad on the long side. The game even knows what saves were done "Offline" and which ones were done "Online", so you technically have two types of saves.

Episodic releases are trash. Any game that has this might as well be thrown in the garbage.

arkard3476d ago

Been working well for Hitman and many games before it. To denounce a game as "trash" just because it releases in episodes is rediculous.

_-EDMIX-_3476d ago

... the game is still releasing as a final product next year so I'm not sure what you're talking about.

You don't actually have to play it in this method so why the tears? No one's really forcing you to play it this way

uth113476d ago

Yes how dare any company do anything differently ! I demand they give us the same thing the same way year after year!

I was disappointed with the episodic realise but I bought the starter pack. Really enjoyed it but Ive been waiting for the rest to release for a decent price which is never happening. 6 episodes is a joke. So I'm now unsure altogether

eldingo3476d ago

the required online connection is atrocious already but the elusive contract thing might be one of the biggest wastes of potential iv'e ever seen all that work and effort into a mission that even if you could play it when available only has 1 try and after that its gone for good that's even worse than the pre order bullshit we have already in games.

It’s the 25th anniversary this year?

I’d have assumed it would have gotten something like a remastered trilogy of the original games or a remake of the first game. Something for a 25th celebration.

Super lacklustre
