Wow. Now the real problem is finding a good deal on the right 4k TV

BrettAwesome3361d ago (Edited 3360d ago )

I'm getting the samsung ks8000 (ks9000 in the US) black friday is right around the corner. My guess is you can pick up a 65" for less than 2.000$

Tapani3360d ago

Have anyone confirmed yet if KS7000 or KS8000 will actually have 24ms or so under Game mode WITH HDR 10-bit?

I'm trying to find out the best 4K gaming tv at 65" with HDR 10-bit and native 2160p panel.

Zeke683360d ago

@Tapani

Does the Samsung KS8000 do game mode and HDR content?
Yes it does. For best experience, select the 'Game' special viewing mode and set the backlight to max. Set 'Smart LED' to 'High' and 'Color Space' to 'Native'. This results in an input lag of 22.6ms.

There you go :)

bouzebbal3360d ago

i think i'm getting a 4K TV to celebrate God of War release.
that game will set a new standard.
4KTVs will be cheaper by then, and there is more content available.

BL8CK1CE3360d ago (Edited 3360d ago )

Awesome tv I have it @tapani yes if you have questions or want pics hit me up

ShowanW3360d ago (Edited 3360d ago )

@BrettAwesome...

I just ordered the KS8500 (55") and getting it for $899.99 ($958 or so after tax)

@Tapani: the KS8000 (&85000) rated pretty good for gaming. And yes it does have a 10bit panel

BrettAwesome3360d ago

Score! I went to the shop right after work today. I can pick my tv up monday. 65" 4k 10bit colors HDR for me 😃 now it's just a matter of days. Ps4 pro for PRESIDENT Y'ALL!

DMZ_P3360d ago (Edited 3360d ago )

Planning to do the same as you

snake-OO3360d ago (Edited 3360d ago )

@Tapani
I have just bought the KS7000 and i can confirm that it actually has 22 ms lag. HDR

A great TV, I am very happy with my purchace. I was looking at sony and lg but the samsung tv just blew them out the water at that price point. KS7000 has features that are only in the higher end models, and it is one of the only few that conforms the ultrahd premium standard of 1000 nits brightness. Sony and lg at that price point top out at 600 nits.

Exoil3360d ago

@snake: Have they updated the tv to make HDR available in game mode? According to Digital Foundry it's not available in game mode.

"On first impressions, the Samsung KS7000 shapes up nicely: all the key UHD specs are adhered to, a VA panel delivers deep black levels, while game mode lowers input lag to just 21ms - all for a respectable £1300 for a 49-inch screen. However, the caveat here is that HDR content can only be displayed using movie mode, which results in a whopping 112ms of lag"

http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...

lokirevamped3360d ago

The cheapest I have found in the S9000 model for a 65" is $2100. They do offer a 55" S9000 model for $1300

snake-OO3360d ago

@Exoil Game mode does have HDR. All modes have HDR. I think Digital foundary got it mixed up with HDR+ which does get disabled under game mode and every other mode too. All HDR+ does it automates the different parameters like brightness, contrast, motionflow etc for what your watching or playing. IMO its not the best way to play or watch a movie . I leave HDR+ off and I can manually set my parameters to my liking to get best picture.
Hope that helps.

jznrpg3360d ago (Edited 3360d ago )

I heard in U.S ks9000 isn't worth getting compared to ks8000? I am buying a new TV for my basement/gameroom and wanted to buy best for gaming tv per dollar as i do with any purchase , i want the best but dont need the little extras they over charge for. I am confused with these different model #s I am looking for 65" as any bigger is too big for my seating distance

Sm30003360d ago

Idk, I was just reading the reviews and a lot of comments say it's a boat anchor. Take a look at amazon.
I checked bc I'm shopping for a tv myself

Javicho3360d ago

what do you think about the lg oled , i bought a couple weeks ago certanly is amazing but i dontk know what you think about it. its perfect for a new ps4 pro and this new games like days gone?

Yeah I'm saving all my sheckles for a lg e6 oled hdr 55inch. Been waiting almost a decade to pick the perfect tv. Running a crap 400 dollar Philips tv for way to long. It's gotten to the point where I refuse to play anymore ps4 exclusives until I get my dream tv.

@below what no hdr in game mode !!! Does that effect the b6 aswell ?

UltraNova3360d ago

Hehehe I went through that when the ps3 came out. I refused to play games until I could afford an HD ready tv...those where the days...

LightofDarkness3360d ago

I have the B6 and it's glorious. I can't really notice input lag on either the ISF professional or game modes. Cinema is a bit much.

Having played Shadow Warrior 2 in HDR so far, HDR will indeed be the next big thing. As will OLED. OLED makes SDR look almost HDR. It's not the best when it comes to motion, however. It's a little blurry, due to sample and hold and no black frame insertion options.

On paper, the Samsungs are better for gaming, but having played on both, the incredible picture quality and far better HDR detail (dark scenes ion particular) trump the KS8000 and any LED TV available.

SoulWarrior3360d ago

34ms of input on the E6 was the only thing putting me off, that's why I went for the KS9500.

Raider693360d ago

Lg E6 dont have HDR in game mode!Check it out because i didnt pick one because of this!33 to 34ms input lag in Game Mode but no HDR in that mode.

Sevir043360d ago

From what ive been following, Sony's best 2016 Tv is the XBR65X930D! And I'm gonna cop that SOB along with a sound bar to have some great volume! I'm getting rid of my 50" hiesense TV as its crap! The reviews for the XBR65X930D and 55X930D off some incredible insight into Sony's technology with its HDR and 4k display tech and processing...

I'm sold on this so i'm getting the 65in

Zarock3360d ago (Edited 3360d ago )

The LG oled Is not worth the price and Input lag It's far from perfect. If you want a TV with the lowest Input lag without loss of picture quality go for a Samsung 9 series. The Samsung KS9800 can do HDR under game mode.

Soc53360d ago

Mmmm Oled Hdr (homer símpson voice)

Seriously that's the way to go all these people buying expensive 4K tvs with crap black levels.
Oled provides the best black level and combined with HDR
Fugghedaboutit. That's my dream tv too.

Allsystemgamer3360d ago

Don't go with OLED yet. They burn out much quicker than LED. The tech isn't there. It's why Samsung has stopped making them. They don't market the amount of power needed for OLED.

Get the 5ku6290 it does not do hdr1000 but it does hdr .. i got it for $500 on the 55" the value and price is amazing. Sure the ks8000 or the b6p oled from lg are amazingly better your you can get 2 ku6290 and pay half the pro for the same price and let's not even mention the price on the oled are ridiculous.

Plus most will be streaming 4k and etc do not need perfect picture. Ku6290 does have perfect amazing picture. THe value price difference is a joke. Wtf is lg or Samsung thinking. They are a jkj

Or another great value good quality out there is the hisense8 it also does hdr pro. LIke the kussmsungs and have great picture

Edit. DIsagree from ignorant people. I took a look muself from the demo tv. Sure hdr1000 looks better but when you put $500 vs over $1000 or $2000. You must be crazy to go for the others. The hdrpro also does hdr and also looks amazingly good the 4k is still great and the imput lag is even better than the other two expensive tvs. Sad how numbers or reviews make the ku6300 look like a cheap bad tv lol it's a great tv. The point is 4kdhr is not expensive.
DOnt liaten to the nerds when they say hdrpro is not hdr because it's otherwise it wont be called hdr. Think about it as a non native hdr just like non native hd still looks amazing but sure not perfect like native does haha. You guys should take a look to black mirror tv show giving popular negstive votes hahaha how silly and retarded we have become

ninsigma3360d ago

If it's not hdr 10 then it's not worth it. Also better off being a 10 bit panel.
Agreed that the lg oled is crazy money!
For anyone looking, I'd recommend the lg 55uh950v. It's hdr 10 AND dolby vision (dolbys version of HDR). 10 bit panel. the webos 3.0 is great and easy to use. Has great speakers (though of course is still relatively flat due to design so I recommend a sound bar). Looks great too ;)
I got for 1999 euro a month ago. No regrets :)

Errorist763360d ago

The one who buys cheap buys twice.

ssj273359d ago

Haters. Anyways the ku6290 is s amazing tv at $500. Whoever say it's not hdr don't have the tv. I have been watching Netflix and i can easily notice the hdr looks great. NOw funniest thing is today i got invited to epp and got lucky to buy the 55ks8000 for $729 so i order one and I'm returning my 55ku6290. For $250 it's worthy to update but in no way i would have pay the doble for this tv. I could have got two 55ku6290 and a ps4pro for the price the ks8000 was a month ago when i got the kther one. BUt for $729 you are crazy to not pay $250 extra for the top of the line better quality. . So I'm exited i got adeal.

ps360s3360d ago (Edited 3359d ago )

Got myself a 4k Projector with HDR and going to buy the pro after December as I Still have my normal PS4 (going to give it away to my nephew)

As I have already got myself a HDTV (55") I don't want to be buying another tv lol

but Will be fab to play games on the PRO directed to my projector

The projector I have that has HDR is a Sony VW520ES

BrettAwesome3360d ago

A projector that does HDR?? What model?

Errorist763360d ago

Does that even make sense?! Can a projector even reach black and brightness levels that warrant it being HDR capable?!

ps360s3359d ago (Edited 3359d ago )

;)

Notellin3360d ago (Edited 3360d ago )

Vizio M65-D0. Around 1200$. Does HDR 10 and Dolby Vision. Also has a game mode with low input lag. The only complaint I have is the tablet remote it comes with isn't very user friendly yet.

But other than that you can't beat it at that price. I also have an OLED 4k 55in and you'd be hard pressed to find a difference in picture quality.

Edit: And the OLED was far more expensive.

Soc53360d ago

The projector has as good blacks as an Oled? Seriously?

Link2DaFutcha3360d ago

I just got a sick 55" LG 4k on groupon for like $500, it's technically "manufacturer refurbished" but I've had it for 2 weeks now and it's awesome.

Errorist763360d ago

Doubt it has acceptable input lag for HDR gaming.

Zarock3360d ago

Remember to get a 4k tv that has a peak brightness of at least 1000 nits to get the true HDR experience otherwise every HDR content will look dimmed and not Intended. I upgraded my Samsung JU7500 to a KS9800 and there was a huge difference due to peak brightness .

Eonjay3360d ago

Christ these things are still expensive. I guess its a case of you get what you pay for when it comes to TV picture quality.

Zarock3360d ago

Absolutely. Or you could just wait for a next gen HDMI version since HDMI 2.0's bandwidth Is maxed at 8-bit @ 4K 60fps. Hopefully the prices would go down even further.

NotEvenMyFinalForm3360d ago

Tapani, is even faster than 24ms it's 20ms which is some of the lowest input lag on the market right now even compared to monitor's aimed at e-sports.

I find your lack of knowing Seinfeld references disturbing.

For context though, there's an episode where George goes to get a massage and it's by a man which -as the strong heterosexual male that he is- objects to, he gets it done anyway. Afterwards at Jerry's apartment he uncomfortably reveals that he thinks "it moved". (Penis joke)

I have a 4K Sony Bravia (2 years old). Input lag is pretty good on game mode so I get to enjoy 4K... It does support HDR, just not HDR 10 as they never firmware updated. I actually have the pro on pre-order and am a little disappointing that 2 products from the same company are not fully compatible with each other. :(

akurtz3360d ago

you have find 4K tvs with considerably low lag

ninsigma3360d ago

What do you consider to be super laggy?? You can get 4k tvs with 30ms response time (or even kess if you go samsung) which would be fine for games unless you're playing competitively.

mogwaii3360d ago

All the ones ive researched had lag of around 50

ShowanW3360d ago

@mogwaii...

samsung KS8000 series and 9000 series have game modes where you can get input lag down to 24ms or so.
this is while in "Game Mode" w/HDR

sammy's also have the benefit of 10bit panel as well and quantum dot tech ... quantum dot isn't OLED, but you get some darn good black levels

Sony scrapping Days Gone studio's live service IP didn't come as a surprise to one dev

Responding to one user saying that they'll "never get over what they did" to Bend Studio, Morrison says: "To be fair we didn't make enough substantial progress over the three years I was there. I saw the eventual cancellation coming prior to it."

This live service push should’ve never happened in the first place! It put most of their major studios behind schedule big time.

74d ago
Redgrave74d ago

A big thank you to Jim for this shortsighted, greedy blunder. A half thank you to Herman, because he stupidly kept some of them going.

The PS5 gen has essentially been a bust, though a few gems such as Returnal, Astro Bot, and Steller Blade.

We might not have had unnecessary remasters (Last of Us, Horizon) or remakes (Last of Us, again) if not for this. Alas, with the die already having been cast, we hope for a return to form.

But, along with the current state of the industry, I don't think we will get it.

S2Killinit73d ago

I disagree. Somy needs to be able to compete in all genre. They have nothing less than studios that do have successful live service games, including MS which is solely focused on service games. Sony had a live service success with Helldivers that people like to not mention in these articles.

S2Killinit73d ago

I disagree. Sony needs to be able to compete in all genre. They have nothing less than studios that do have successful live service games, including MS which is solely focused on service games. Sony had a live service success with Helldivers that people like to not mention in these articles.

74d ago
TheColbertinator74d ago

Sony is stupid for thinking live service would work for them. Or anything else they do for that matter.

Inverno74d ago

To work on something for 3 years and say that no substantial progress has been on it seems to be the trend happening across the industry. It's one thing to work without stress or crunch but in 3 years they could've used everything made for Days Gone and had a sequel out by now. Or worked on something smaller that they actually wanted to work on and with actual direction.

Travesty74d ago (Edited 74d ago )

Sony was the one telling them to do something different. I don’t blame Bend Studios. It was a lot of pressure pushing live service titles out and it backfired.

DaysGone wasn’t a bad title. It sold pretty well too. It sold 8 million copies on PS4 as of 2021. Almost 2 million on PC as of 2022. I don’t know the remastered version but it sold decent for a game that was already on the PlayStation Catalog.
They should have let them make a sequel. The series was made to be a trilogy.
The canceled game was reportedly using the Decima engine. It would make sense if their next game would be using that. I know DaysGone was using UE4. But if they did make a sequel I would prefer Decima over UE5. But that’s wishful thinking.
I’m not against a Syphon Filter remake. But just give us something memorable.

isarai74d ago

This is where there's a huge misconception that everyone is still running with. The idea of a sequel wasnt taken off the table, ONE MANS PITCH for a sequel wasnt greenlit, there would definitely be more than one pitch for a sequel

Travesty74d ago

The one man was the former director of Bend Studios. It not being “greenlit” was what I was referring to when they asked if Bend Studios would be interested in making a Syphon Filter game, after they released Days Gone. Don’t understand what was misleading.

https://www.thegamer.com/so...

isarai73d ago

The misleading part is that studios get several pitches, their could've easily been like 3 separate days gone sequel pitches, just because he's director doesn't mean his pitch couldn't have been lame, i mean he was talking about it being a multiplayer game, that already sounds iffy. But everyone talks as if the idea of a sequel as a whole was dismissed and we just don't know that.

The Days Gone Remaster Is an Unsurprising Cash-Grab and Nothing More

Honestly, who is the Days Gone remaster for? Fans of the original won't find anything new here.

fortressofsolitude.co.za
Christopher247d ago

I don't know why you're being downvoted. It is a new thing in the remaster. Perhaps it's not worth the $10 upgrade if you've played. But, I mean, if you never played the game, then just wait for it to go on sale, forget about it, and continue not playing it like you did for the last 6 years?

TheEroica246d ago

The downvotes are likely from the excuses... Horde mode doesn't obsolve Sony from cash grabbing its easily duped fanbase.

S2Killinit246d ago

I love how people call this a money grab while the real money grabbing is in other genres. But, I think people who are that dumb deserve to be fed with skins and micro-transactions, and don’t get to complain that single player games of this caliber are few and far in between.

IAMRealHooman246d ago

Days gone is amazing regardless and for those that didn’t play the original I highly recommend.

SimpleSlave247d ago (Edited 247d ago )

Yes. All of Sony's Remasters - all the ones stemming from the PS4 library - are cash-grabs. When all they needed to do was patch them to run at 60fps, up the resolution, and be done with it. But then they had to actually care about Bloodborne, and that's a cardinal sin over at Sony.

On a side note. I just got The Sinking City Remastered for free, because I owned the game. Weird...

anast247d ago

The Bloodborne thing is a real issue.

SimpleSlave247d ago

I'm sure they banish people to the Nightmare Frontier if they as much as whisper the name in the office.

Bebedora247d ago

Cash-grab or not. As long the Bend Studio gets their share, I am for it. I don't know, but I still hope for making of a second title. However, in a way It's a cash-grab. They still put something extra to it (horde mode), that is.

anast247d ago

lol Yeah they seem to hate the idea of a new Bloodborne anything.

I've still got to play the shrinking city. I enjoy Lovecraftian stuff.

RaidenBlack247d ago

Hope the recent remasters like Sinking City and Oblivion, ups the ante and alters the industry's approach.
But what fans really want is just a straight up sequel ... oh and add sequel to 1886 as well.

GhostScholar247d ago

I would love a days gone sequel. Days gone to me is such a better game than the last of us. The world in days gone was so great.

247d ago
mkis007247d ago (Edited 247d ago )

To me they appeal to different players outside of just being zombie games. I like them both, but days gone is more fun to me. The last of us 2 is my murder game though along with red dead 2 and gta 5. Love the realistic violence.

jznrpg246d ago

I’m a big fan of Days Gone but TLOU is a better made game. How much you enjoyed each game is of course up to you.

neutralgamer1992247d ago

With the recent cancellation of Bend Studio’s live-service project, there’s now a real and exciting opportunity for the studio to revisit Days Gone 2. This might be the perfect time for Sony to greenlight the sequel—especially with the PS6 likely on the horizon—because Days Gone already has a strong foundation, a passionate fanbase, and significant untapped potential.

It’s worth remembering that Days Gone was Bend Studio’s first major AAA title developed for a home console. Before that, the studio had primarily worked on portable systems like the PSP and PS Vita, or acted as a support studio. That leap to a full-scale open-world console game was ambitious, and although the game launched in a somewhat rough state, that context is crucial to understanding its initial reception.

Gaming critics were often harsh in their reviews, frequently comparing Days Gone to other PlayStation exclusives that came from more seasoned console studios like Naughty Dog or Santa Monica Studio. Despite these comparisons and the early technical issues, Days Gone still went on to sell over 7.6 million copies—a remarkable achievement for a new IP. Even more importantly, Bend Studio listened to fan feedback and steadily improved the game through patches, updates, and optimizations. Today, Days Gone stands as a much more polished and enjoyable experience than it was at launch.

That kind of growth shows Bend Studio’s resilience and potential. A sequel would not only benefit from their hard-earned experience, but also avoid many of the pitfalls that affected the original’s development. Much of the foundational tech, gameplay systems, and world-building has already been done, meaning the studio can focus more on innovation and storytelling rather than reinventing the wheel.

Compared to the high-risk, long-development timeline of a new IP—which could take 5+ years just to get through pre-production—returning to Days Gone is both a smarter and more efficient route. If Sony and Bend Studio commit to Days Gone 2 now, there’s a strong possibility it could be a key PS6 launch title—offering a fan-driven, proven IP with greater polish, depth, and scope.

Let’s not forget Bend Studio’s deep legacy either. This is the same team that brought us Syphon Filter, a series that helped define early PlayStation experiences. With the right support and direction, they can absolutely deliver a worthy sequel that lives up to the franchise’s potential and the studio’s legacy

Days Gone PS5 Is a 'Really Good Piece of Work', Say Tech Experts

Sammy writes: "Back when Days Gone Remastered was announced, many fans were squinting to see the differences between the excellent original PS4 version and its PS5 re-release.

But now with the game readily available – and our 8/10 review declaring it the “definitive version of a fan favourite” – we’re beginning to get some meaningful tech analysis.

And according to Digital Foundry, this is not just the bare-bones resolution upscale some had anticipated – “a lot of effort has gone into it”, according to the tech experts. "

First game sell well enough to warrant a sequel? Our received well enough?

Alos88261d ago

Sold well and received even better.. had a bad first month due to technical issues but ended up being one of the best games from last gen

Knightofelemia261d ago (Edited 261d ago )

That's the nature of the beast. If a game like a movie does not meet certain numbers then they write off the franchise. EA scrapped DS2 because the DS1 remake did not meet certain numbers. I was hoping the remaster of DG and the fact it also came to PC would convince Sony to green light a DG sequel.

PanicMechanic261d ago
