This is exactly right. When someone (I think IGN) asked Nintendo if they were coming to Leipzig, they responded with something along the lines of they will attend these kind of conventions when they have something newsworthy. In other words they didn't attend Leipzig because they had nothing worth showing. They are also not attending E for All, presumably because they still have nothing worth showing (which is also backed up by the 2008 release schedule. Nothing remotely first party/interesting at all). They attended E3, but that was just god damn poor. They might as well have not attended it since none of it was newsworthy.

I've been a Nintendo fan for 17 years. I can honestly say that the Wii is the worst console they have ever released. It was short sighted and underpowered. When I had my N64 I was proud because although it didn't have many games, of the games it did have they were high quality, and the hardware itself was excellent at the time (aside from using carts). At no point did I ever feel dissapointed with the N64. The Wii has been one huge dissapointment. I thought Virtual Console was going to be awesome, but we get one or two no name games per week out of a potentially mind blowing catalogue, and the lack of storage has meant that I couldn't be bothered to make room to check out the Wii Ware titles.

Not to mention the lack of downloadable demos, or at the very least demo disks. I needn't mention it but the online is poor at the side of PS3 or Xbox360 too. I like to see who is online and what they are doing, and an easy method to invite them to a game, not just if they happen to be on the game the same time as me. Sometimes I feel like if they aren't going to offer a competitive service, don't offer one at all because all these half assed attempts at a console and services just frustrate me.

Sorry for the rant, but I've really had enough now. What with this new "casual brand", it's more clear than ever that Nintendo has forgotten it's roots and continue to make sub par games.

What I found totally laughable at E3 was when they were like, "Don't worry, we're working on another Zelda and Mario game" Sure those games are great and I really can't wait for another proper Zelda game (an OoT beater this time please), but I'd like to see some new IP, or revived old IP at least. I'm sure they could have filled the release schedule gap with a new 1080 Snowboarding, F-Zero or something.

Even if Nintendo released a game that is AAA, you guys would still claim they forgot about the roots.
