Holy sh!t

Damn. I had a chance to preorder this for $35 and didn't bother. Guess I blew it.

Is it this fun and good?

This was a super helpful review! I'm about at the halfway mark of the campaign (on Master, so it's taking a while) and now I've got this strange mechanic to look forward to afterward. Also, anyone considering it - play this on Master to start. It works so well, every mission winds up being the kind of fast-moving combat puzzle I loved so much in the original Halo. When you can't make mistakes, the real strategy happens, and this game affords you with so many options that it's just neat to get the lay of the land, figure out what works, and orchestrate some crazy scenario in which you win against stacked odds. Like if Frozen Synapse were a first-person shooter.

In the campaign, I feel a lot like how I felt when I first played Mega Man X - yes, it's a well-established genre, but it makes the movement feel so good, adds meaningful and deep mechanics in the mix, and uses the power of the current systems to do super cool level design tricks. Like, that second level of the game - when you get to that, er, vertical section - I literally experienced vertigo, because they mess with your sense of perspective and scale so much there. And holy crap, once you're out of that room, it gets ridiculous. You've also got a different-enough team of villains with different titans, they have their own strengths and weaknesses... seriously, all this game needs is lemons.

In fact, the game kinda starts like Mega Man X. You're told by your mentor that some day you'll be as cool as him and actually have a titan and stuff. And then... huh, did these guys use MMX as inspiration?

The best game gameplay wise this gen by miles, very fluid, extremely fun and has very diverse weapons and playstyles to do well with. Love bf1 but TF2 takes the cake for me this year.

Is it just me or 10/10 is becoming a norm even for decent games?

Was pleasantly surprised with the Single player on this one. Really enjoying it so far.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.

Is this like the 10th quarter in a row they're down 33% on hardware how is that even mathematically possible. You would think their mediocrity would Plateau

Wuchang is great. Nine Sols didn’t have a physical copy so I never played it but I’ve heard good things so I will check it out. I stopped playing sports games many years ago when before the card dlc’s or whatever they’re called.
