I rather play SNES games than my ps3/ps4 games . None of SNES games are open world only games . SNES had REAL variety to select from. not stuck on zombies, hack an slashing zombies , baking with zombies, lost on Gilligan islands with zombies. SNES was not stuck on Military fps open world only games, was not stuck on multi- player game.
Can't believe i have 5 ps3 games since 2007 .... 3 ps4 games at the moment 4th game will be Gran Turismo Sport . Open world only games has ruined the fabric of fun and gaming .

Damn you illuminati

Eidolon3494d ago

And I bet they're all games you thought would take you on a nostalgia trip, or Sports and racing games.

Retroman3494d ago (Edited 3494d ago )

@ Eldolon

And that become an issue for you why? ?gamer can't love what they like? who gave you authority to say what gamer like? Surley not Sony or Microsoft or any other gamers.
Not everyone love fps open world only games. Get off my Balls will ya.

Eidolon3494d ago

You're all over this generations balls for no reason, that's not what this submission is about.

Ace Combat 7, the high possibility of a new Armored Core (original director went back to work for Fromsoft), Persona 5. I'm still holding out hope for a new Twisted Metal, myself. I feel ya, Modern consoles so far are light on mid to high tier games that aren't like everything else out there, but there are a few potential gems in the pipeline. This is why I hope that Nintendo Switch does well cause I don't think that system will work so well with the typical modern game, it being under powered, so they can't rely on the open world thing and won't be so quick to use up all the systems resources on unnecessary levels of photorealism and detail, and I don't think the Nintendo crowd is all that impressed with modern military shooters. Devs might actually have to get creative with theme, game mechanics, and level design for once this gen.

If you haven't found variety in modern gaming, especially with a PS3 you need to look harder. I have a lot of PS3 games, and only one is a zombie game (RDR Unread Nightmare) and only one FPS, which is Bioshock, which is pretty different to your usual FPS fare. Everything else are different games.

The PS3 had a pretty varied library, if you bothered to look beyond the Call of Dutys and Battlefields...

Also, SNES had an awesome game library, but still, platformers were the most popular genre of games on that era. Super Mario World, Aero the Acrobat, Bubsy (lol), all the Disney games like Aladdin, Lion King, the Mickey Mouse games, Sonic, Donkey Kong Country, Boogerman, Earthworm Jim, etc, etc, etc... and you didn't see people complaining about that.

Retroman3493d ago

Back in the day there were no reason to complaint, SNES had it all.
Especially platformers, beat 'em ups - Shoot 'em ups. Would love to return to those days with Nentindo Switch .
I Would sell my ps3/ps4 for Switch .

To answer your question : no, Have not found variety in modern games appealing to me.
Outside of ratchet and clank , Street Fighter 4-5, Gran Turismo 5,Marvel v Capcom 3,Rayman legend . im old school gamer . Anything classic remastered or remake im there . Can't wait til remake Castlevania , Super Metroid is announced ( Switch ) as we know Crash in Development for ps4 . All we need now remake Jax an Daxter.

I'm old school as well, I've been playing since the Atari / NES days.

And yup, the SNES was an awesome machine, with a lot on offer. But to say that the PS3 didn't have variety is ridiculous.

Among the various PS3 games I've played are:

- Gran Turismo 5 (simulation racing)
- The Motorstorm games (arcade racing)
- Bioshock (first person shooter)
- Rayman Origins (2D platformer)
- Ratchet & Clank games (3D platformers)
- Metal Gear Solid IV (stealth)
- Mortal Kombat 9 (fighting)
- The Batman Arkham games (open world / action games)
- Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising, God of War games (action, hack n' slash)
- Little Big Planet games (2D platformers, creation game)
- Modnation Racers (karting, creation game)
- The Mass Effect Trilogy (WRPG)
- Red Dead Redemption, GTA IV, GTA V and the expansions (open world games)
- A bunch of Guitar Hero / Rock Band games (music / rythm games)
- Darksiders (adventure / action game, Zelda-like)
- Super Stardust (twin-stick arcade shooter)
- Uncharted games (action / adventure)
- The Last of Us (action / stealth / horror)
- Heavy Rain (detective game)
- Mirror's Edge (first person platforming game)
- Etc.

I don't see a single open world military fps games, and only 2 zombie games (and calling The Last of Us a zombie game could be a bit of a stretch). I see a lot of game variety in there, and that's just a list of stuff I've played on PS3, there are a lot other game genres on PS3 that I never played, like JRPGs.

Again, to me it looks like you didn't gave the PS3 a fair chance. Lol.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio27d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing26d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9227d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit26d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing26d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9226d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse

Take-Two CEO Once Again Side Steps Grand Theft Auto 6 Price Point

Strauss Zelnick says price of GTA 6 is being carefully considered and that Rockstar is focused on "making the most spectacular piece of entertainment on Earth."

Kuma27d ago

If GTA 6 abandons everything that made GTA 5 great, it will crash and burn right out of the gate. GTA 5 was funny and not at all PC. My worry is that they will cave to the PC crowd and ruin the vibes.

Eonjay27d ago

They got freaking BBLs twerking on the top of trucks for the gram, the freaking Flordia joker, and dude running down the stree in their undies and you are worried about it being 'too PC'? The internet has runied gamers. It doesn't matter how non-PC they make the game, you will all listen to the grifters telling you not to believe your lying eyes lol.

gigoran827d ago

"Rockstar Games’ co-founder and former VP of Development Jamie King said he envisions GTA 6 as a game that’s “maybe not quite as edgy or quite as funny” as its satirical predecessors."

oh yeah, totally internet grifters spreading rumors...

blacktiger27d ago

That's part of the plan, they destroyed you but they need to destroy the shareholders? Only 1 shre holder is the true elite that don't care

1nsomniac27d ago (Edited 27d ago )

Meh.., if it’s above £55 I ain’t buying it.

Rockstar are genuinely not half the company they used to be. I was a die hard GTA fan I’ve purchased every game and expansion and spin off day 1.

My opinion of GTA6 is that I can take it or leave it. Not bothered. They burnt too many bridges.

DaReapa27d ago (Edited 27d ago )

So they're actually leaving the door open for an L.A. Noire sequel? Nice!

VaNdAl27d ago (Edited 27d ago )

He should just come out and say it already it's getting stupid it's going to be a 100 bucks $200 for the special edition🤡🤡; 29315;🤣♿

Storm2327d ago

I won't be getting this game until I can get it for $70. SHoot, I could wait for it to be even lower. I don't need the game that badly as my backlog is still huge and I am enjoying playing other things.
