I'd prefer they focus on improving their output of home console games, over catering to this latest fad.
Droughts were an issue last gen. Focusing on VR in any capacity at the moment would just be time and resources taken away from development of normal home console games and proper advertisement, not to mention forming deals with more third parties, all of which the Switch needs far more than VR games in the short term.

If they're gonna do VR, let it be later on, when the Switch has established itself into a strong position and they have the room to stretch their resources out a bit.

I'm pretty positive they could do both and they are still a business so I'm not entirely sure why they would essentially ignore what seems to be the next phase in gaming.

The development and the sales of VR don't necessarily show it as a fad .

I'm sorry but if this company was the first to come out with this you would be praising them to High Heavens For doing something different you can't be desperately trying to spin everything Nintendo does as Innovative and different yet when another company does it it's suddenly a fad lol

Sure...

I think it's extremely likely that they're already developing something for VR for their newest headset. At this point it would be completely stupid for them not to.

"I'm sorry but if this company was the first to come out with this you would be praising them to High Heavens"
I'm sorry, but no.
I would not.
And you're a jerk for putting words in my mouth like that, especially after all the times you've gone on advertisement sprees for Sony yourself, let alone all the times you've spun negative against Nintendo.
I've already stated my stance on VR, after having personally experienced it over two or so weeks of play time with my brother.
My opinion wouldn't change just because of Nintendo doing it, because it likely wouldn't be done that different even if Nintendo tried.
And at this point, the Switch is a higher priority; if they divert attention and resources into VR now, when they first need a console with a firm, profitable install base to sell any sort of VR gear off of, it would just be weakening the amount of effort the Switch would see being thrown into it.
It would be stupid to focus on VR when they don't even have a solidly selling system to attach it to yet.

VR is a fad.
I'm sorry if that offends you, but the majority of gamers don't want to wear a helmet or goggles just to play good console games.
At best, it's a stepping stone towards a better form of VR in the future, one which will incorporate synaptic feedback.
In its current form, it is not the "next phase" in gaming.

Gonna be hard to VR on the go...

gamingpro3525d ago

Nintendo switch can be played at home or on the go. So if VR was implemented then obviously it would be for when playing at home.

Summons753525d ago

Yeah but it would need for the system to have a lot more power and the majority of the power is in the tablet, the base will only have a a bit extra to boost it for the TV. We also don't need to headset octopus sending wires every which way for every single system. Let's see where VR gen 1 goes first becasue right now there aren't even any major games for VR and the entry price is way to high for most consumers.

But the device is a portable which likely means all you would actually need is the actual handheld itself so I don't see them restricting where you could do that feature with a VR anyway.

I also don't know what you mean by "obviously" because there's several devices that actually use VR that are technically portable

It doesnt need VR, VR isnt the future of shit when it comes to gaming.

I'm Day one'ing the NS.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle57d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted
