If you don't care about portability, then all you have left is a console that's riding on Nintendo first-party games, since it doesn't offer any features that are unique enough to attract third-party exclusives, and non-exclusive third-party games are going to be much better on PS4/XBO, so why bother playing third-party games on the Switch?

You are going to see a lot of "opinions" from the rarest blogs gettin approved here on n4g, if they talk trash about Nintendo, they do the job.

I agree the Nintendo switch dosnt appeal to me whatsoever. Iam 31 years old and a hardcore gamer and prefer my ps4/Ps4pro and xbox Scorpio. The Nintendo will be underpowered so for that reason it will not get much 3rd part support. Most Devs are saying they need more power hence Ps4pro and Scorpio.

This will appeal to the younger audience and casual gamers who like to travel alot and it will be at the top in the mobile market. We shouldn't even compare Sony, Microsoft consoles to this.

Nintendo have gone a totally different route which dosnt appeal to me but Iam sure will appeal to many others and I hope it does well for them. I have a feeling this will be it for Nintendo console offerings if it ends up selling like the wiiu.

While I'm disappointed in the Switch not being a console that will contend with the PS4 and Xbone I will give Nintendo props for melding a console and a portable into one. Though I've yet to hear how long the battery life will be and going by how they pitched the Wii U gamepad as being a device you can play games on while another person is using the tv, that thing only lasted a couple hours at best.

There's still interest in the ol' boy when it comes to the Nintendo handheld library as that library has so many games I'm into such as Shin Megami Tensei and a whole smorgasbord of JRPGs, basically the 3DS is my JRPG fix. So, if Nintendo can get that library onto their Switch then I know where I can finally get my JRPG fix on a big screen.

The other thing is this is not freaking aimed at casuals. You have to be the dumbest idiot to think that as the only Nintendo console that became focused on casuals was the Wii. This is just another underpowered Nintendo console based around another Nintendo gimmick that actually has meaningful merit to it.

My issues just lie in the fact that Nintendo didn't make a competitive console, the ARM architecture makes it difficult to port games to, the chipset is a customized Tegra chip that'll be between the X1 and X2 (so no this isn't going to be on par with a PS4 or Xbone), and since it's designed around a gimmick it's going to alienate third party support because nobody will risk spending tons of money to produce a game for a console with an install base that won't guarantee a profitable return.

But hey, at some point you just have to shrug, cock your head to the side and say, "That's Nintendo for ya'."

It's clearly bothering you that the switch is marketed towards casual gamers, bothered enough to write an artiicle, deep inside you want to have a nintendo product aimed towards hardcore gamers. you care about nintendo switch its something you want but feel that it's not for you.

I for one am very excited for the Switch.
Just the fact that I have been sold on a basic experience video, only showing the interaction, function and accessibility. And seeing Zelda, Mario 3D and MarioKart running on it has made my inner child smack me across the head and tell me to 'shuddup and buy it'. So I will.

Nintendo have done a great job in showing the device and its games before even mentioning CPU GPU RAM etc...

I love it when people say they don't care about something and then go and write an article about said thing. It's like a pop star writing a song about why they don't care their ex has a new partner.

I agree. I never got into Zelda but I do like Mario and the donkey kong country games are the best platformers I have ever played. I wouldn't buy a console to play them though. I also think you are underestimating the potential of playing something like cod on the go. If they get that 3rd party support they will be a contender in the core markets. Maybe not for you or I, but the they will have a presence.

interesting how somebody who doesn't care writes an article about it, I think you do care :). Its kind of like when my wife says she doesn't care, shes really telling me she cares deeply.

My only problem is there doesn't seem to a clear path for backwards compatibility. The Wii U had a lot of good games. The next console they will probably switch to something else and it'll be the same issue.

Nintendo copy the concept of the PSVita and the PSTV. Where you can just plug in your PSVita game cartridge into PSTV and starts playing your game on big screen. It's not something new or never been done before. Sony could probably file lawsuit against Nintendo for infringement.

It shows promise in my opinion and I am admittedly not the biggest Nintendo fan. People should just wait and see before passing judgment. Third Party Support is imperative to the success of this product, its a massive uphill struggle without it.

Cartridges, low power graphics, kiddy games, horrible horrible console look, awful big thing in my hands, dumb concept screen on-the-go-and-on-my-tv.... It's a mess, so yea I don't care!

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
