Nintendo Switch; Why I Don't Care

Taken from IM PLAYIN:

"Opinions, eh. We’re all entitled to them – but nobody particularly wants to read them. Well, sadly, this is exactly what you’ll be reading in this article. My opinion on the Nintendo Switch. So if you don’t like it, good. It means that your opinion is different to mine, and variety is the spice of life."

I'm personally tired of seeing people say 'I don't care for X product' cause it brings nothing to the discussion besides negativity. If you don't care, why spend the time to write an article on why you don't care?

And yes, like you said, 'opinions' but wouldn't it be more productive or worthwhile to write about something you do care about or are looking forward to instead?

Fishy Fingers3498d ago (Edited 3498d ago )

Would you have taken umbridge if this had been 'Why I care for the Switch'? Probably not so what use is positivity without negativity? Nothing wrong with having mixed views or opinions.

I get your point and if the article was nothing more than 'it's crap' fair enough but a negative opinion is just as valid as a positive one when it comes do discussion. It's easy to write something like this, yes, but it's even easier to read something else if you're not interested.

I always appreciate contrarian reviews or opinions for that very reason. It creates a good debate.

The author here could have provided more thought and substance, though. I think that's what rubs people wrong. His one real point is valid, but it boils down to "I enjoy third party AAA games. Switch will not be the best place to play those games."

That's an important point, but could really be written in a tweet rather than an Opinion piece.

Sm30003498d ago

Well said. Rarely do I see a comment written in a positive light like yours on this site, I commend u

DragonDDark3498d ago

Lol that's coming from you?

EddieNX 3498d ago

Cocoabrother - you deserve a small trophy for this comment.
Leave the Switch articles to people like me who are incredibly excited by it, if you don't, there's plenty of Playstation, Xbox and PC news for you.

JackBNimble3498d ago

He doesn't care so much he took the time to write an article about it... lol

KakashiHotake3498d ago

well said, my thoughts exactly.

zaherdab3498d ago

Still better than the "10 reasons why" articles ....
10 reasons why i dont care about 10 reasons why articles coming up ...

jc123498d ago

Not necessarily. It the job of certain people to write articles - both good and bad - about all things video games. It's what they do.

SMFH is just a stupid thing that millennials use when they're typing a message. They could be talking about broccoli, carrots, or their pet dog, and they'd still manage to fit that in there somehow.

You're only entitled to an opinion if you're informed well enough imo.
You say it's aimed at just casuals. Basicly calling yourself a hardcore gamer and the rest who is interested in a Switch a casual. Nonsense.
Also, we don't know everything about the Switch yet. Neither do you. Aside from it being a handheld and you not liking handhelds.

Silly article.

This is an open forum to people agreeing or not agreeing if you don't like it or are offended then leave.

mad-dog3498d ago

Opinions don't mean shit if it's not based on accurate information. It's just baseless guessing.

_-EDMIX-_3498d ago

@mad- what accurate information? His eyes? If the games he saw playing look average to him in regards to Graphics that still his opinion to say that's something that put him off and made his decision to not purchase it regardless of how rational that is, that is still his opinion.

_-EDMIX-_3498d ago

Lol no. I think we know enough about the portable to make a good judgement call.

Unless it's going to cost $1,000 I don't really think any more information is going to change much people's minds, they did a very good job at showing what it was and I don't really think there's that much of a mystery.

mad-dog3498d ago

I don't think anything will change his mind anyway.

_-EDMIX-_3498d ago

@mad- But consider that applies to most people anyway.

I think enough people have seen enough of what it is to make the decision on if they want it or not. Nintendo did a very brilliant job in marketing what it is.

I'm not entirely sure how much more information someone would need for them to absolutely change their minds especially considering the entire main point and concept of this handheld has already been shown.

I don't really think anything regarding the specs or the price are going to change much people's minds, you would have to consider a high price does not mean they won't purchase it , it simply means they won't purchase it at that price. (Or new)

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio25d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing25d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9225d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit25d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing25d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9225d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
