Does it matter whether Nintendo ‘beats’ Sony or Microsoft? People should look beyond sales when it comes to the Wii U or Switch.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.

Spiders: "We're going to cut straight to the chase so you're not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.
What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.
We're sorry that it's come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.
If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we'll no longer be able to reply."
Popularity in internet age has nothing to do with huge sales. Nintendo Switch has been pretty popular these past few days and hasn't even sold one unit yet. If Nintendo delivers a great experience and an awesome library of games, every unit old will start with a cult following and positive word of mouth will be heard. I grew up when we didn't sit around talking about sales. My friends didn't even argue whether Sega or Nintendo was better. If you had SNES, fire it up or a Genesis..fire it up let's play. Switch appeals to me and I am just as excited to try out as I was SNES.
Games I want so far:
Super Mario (TBA)
Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
Dragon Quest 11
Mario Kart (TBA)
Splatoon (TBA)
Games I want them to announce soon:
Metroid Prime 4
Luigi's Mansion 3
Pokémon Switch
Rockstar Games support ;p
Sales are still important as they bring in more long term support for a platform
In my opinion, people shouldn't use sales to define a great product. Not all best-selling products are good products just like not all bad selling products are bad.
If we believe more sales equal a better product then Bieber albums, the Transformer films, and 50 Shades of Grey would be considered some of the best things in the world.
Sales may not make a great console, but rest assured, a great console makes sales.
sure it doesnt make a "great" console but it does determine if devs want to use their resources and time on it or in other words the consoles lifespan
