Nah I think it's the best thing theyve done in years and will sell well. It may not be HUGE but I still think it'l do well with franchises like Mario, Pokemon etc

I don't understand exactly what's supposed to fail here. I'm pretty sure ninento doesn't need amazing home console saIes to survive. They have proved that already. Not to mention I have my other consoles and a gaming PC if I want graphics and good third party support. Just like most well rounded gamers. I like how unique nintendo is and have purchased many of their systems just to play one or two exclusive games. I plan on getting the Switch as well.

i think it looks beautiful. And this console is the best idea that Nintendo could have come up with. If they did a console just like ps4 and xbox one, then it would be just another ordinary console.

This thing is going to fail so hard. They are hoping to cash in our their biggest cashcow in the handheld market. Maybe next time if there is one they dont give us underpowered tech, gimmicks, and overpriced bullshit again.

The tablet protrudes out of the home hardware slot like an overfilled sandwich, breaking the symmetry of the monolithic box they were quite clearly going to go for.

The design actually stands out and it looks pretty sleek. My friends and if watching sports or a movie when they come over my house and the first thing they'll say is what is that.

The controller when connected together with the joypad looks to be severely uncomfortable, and the size of the screen will make things tricky when it comes to switching between touchscreen interactions and the controller

I own the Wii U and have no issues grasping the controller.
But on a tiny display using one fiddly half of a controller? No. People are not going to do that. It’s impractical.

Explain to me why if I tell someone hey look at this video or you got to see this on my phone this supposed to be way worse. For one I may not be doing it for long gaming sessions but I might be on a plane and my girl and I might want to play a game together during a 3 hour flight.

Also, with the vast amount of hardware switching that will be happening with this console, I hope to Christ the elements are sturdy and click as easily in & out of place as the trailer alludes

Also people forget one of the biggest downfalls of the wii u was the cpu and GPU rumors suggest that the chip in the NS will be top notch and the the docking station is actually the supplemental computing device. The supplemental computing device that Nintendo has been after has now been patented. The device wouldn’t offer improved visuals for Nintendo’s next console the Nintendo NX but would allow it to access increased processing speed, network functions, and memory.

If the Switch sells, it will receive 3rd party support. Skyrim Special Edition already being playable on the device proves it is on par with at least the Xbox One, so power isn't an issue.

Forget the fact games now are comming in around 50+ gb mark, forget the fact they already had and still do have issues getting games to run at 720p 30 fps after 3 years without major compromise on a VANILLA 7TH GEN CONSOLE, forget the fact this handheld runs off cartridges, forget the fact it will cost third party developers more $$$ and time to tweak a game that can run off the rumored modified nividia x1 chip without serious compromise and head scratching (on a cartridge) Like wow. But somehow nintendo can do it rofl. Do you think the ps4 slim and the xb1s are that big because they wanted to waste resources orrr just to make it look like a console? But somehow nintendo can do it...

Even if the ns can mitigate all of these hurdles (which i doubt) how long will the battery last? 2-3 hours? Prob come on the box "this game must be docked (charged) to run properly.

My take on the switch.......

Jack of all trades, Master of NONE.

It was an awesome trailer, it won peoples social media feeds for a day or two. But because a lot of people found the video sharable doesn't mean they will show up to buy it in March.

Same thing happened with the Wii U reveal. It made waves on social media with a lot of people liking the concept, but few showed up to buy one

This thing definitely runs the risk of fully being neither a home console or a portable handheld gaming device it may be trying to do too many things at once it's too small to fit in your pocket and due to its design for portability that means they had to compromise a bit on its overall horsepower that and the controllers look really freaking small.

all my current qualms with the switch aside all the gimmicks in the world won't save this thing if it isn't priced well and doesn't have a substantial 3rd party line up of games this time otherwise just like the wii u it will do relatively tepid compared to the other consoles.

I am surely not going to run to get one. As with the Wii U, I am going to watch and see. For me, there is nothing exiting about the NSwitch

unless its tegra 2 or something similar, itll probably be heading downhill pretty soon. the series of events kinda feels like the wiiu launch. all that talk from devs about sticking with nintendo and now its as lonely as it gets. if this thing has new gen nvidia shield gpu/apu then itll put it a good distance away from xb1. which is impressive considering the size and portability. just speculation on my end though.

Im not even going to read this.. Seriously people, be open minded and give it a shot.. While every nintendo console wasnt a success, every one of them had fantastic games.. The Wii was a huge success yet my least favorite console of them all.. Every handheld was a smash hit (lets not bring up Virtual boy even though Wario Land was awesome)... Great games and support... Home console great exclusives minuscule 3rd party but the ones that are sometime end up amazing.. Just try it, especially those calling it a kiddy machine.. I dare you to collect every star in Mario or fully complete a Zelda game.. Who doesnt like Mario Kart and Smash Bros? Come on! Ill pay $400 just to have their exclusives because theyre that damn good! This gen (so far) has been full of remasters.. Yeah more good games are to come but still.. I have 20+ games for the Wii U and dont regret it one bit because they were amazing games..

I still really want a Nintendo Switch as it is going to replace my Wii U most likely.

3DS still has a long life for me personally because there are still a ton of games I've yet to play on it. ( decent back catalog I'm working on ), so it won't replace that for now.

* Switch = an additional gaming device with a unique library of games you mostly can't play anywhere else.

* New 3D Mario game with no motion controls that could be like Mario 64 or Mario sunshine = awesome.

* Also Dragon Quest XI coming to Switch sold me on it right away.

I love video games and Nintendo is a huge part of that so I'm getting it.

I like that i can play this in bed like my vita, since I have young kids , a lot of my play time is while I am in bed and wife and kids are sleeping. Haters going to hate, just like they hate on PSVR , Pro etc.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.

Is this like the 10th quarter in a row they're down 33% on hardware how is that even mathematically possible. You would think their mediocrity would Plateau
