The hype is heavy around Nintendo’s innovative Switch console, but the reality is that the hardware is mostly irrelevant.

it does matter if they expect to get some next gen games like the new red dead redemption

moldy, we normally have different opinions, but man, you beat me to the punch.

you cant have next gen games or even current gen games without the hardware to back it up.

Edit :can to can't

This is what they should have learned with the Wii U. Gimmicks, no matter how promising, doesnt mean anything without the hardware to back it up. Third party devs push for parity across all platforms. Having to rework an engine or outsource to another dev doest always work out well. The Switch looks interesting, but Id have to see more specs/details until I'm fully on board.

In a way I guess it doesnt.
Seeing Mario & Zelda running on the switch has pulled on my nostalgic emotions and has already hooked me. Couldn't care less about the console wars.

I disagree. Hardware does matter. It's important that's it's at least a rough approximation of the Ps4 and Xbone, otherwise we won't be getting a lot of cross-console games, or if we do the Switch versions will be downgraded. It doesn't need to be the best of the three, or push new limits or anything, they just need to make it easy for cross console games to be adapted to the Switch.

Hardware does matter, just look at how Wii U performed

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9222d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit22d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing22d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9222d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
