Don't count me in I'll stay with my PS4 and Xbox one. Will never waste another penny on a Nintendo console after wasting money on the Wii U

They made the right move. Fanboys aside (because fanboys will just write it off automatically, that's how they operate), this is about the most appealing concept I can imagine. Nobody's going to want to buy a clone of the other two consoles out there. If you own a PS4 or Xbox One like I do (I own both, and PSVR and Vita), you have absolutely zero reason in the world to buy a third console if it does nothing different and has all the same games you already have.

But this.... this provides incentive. This gives people a reason to buy another console. The full Nintendo suite of exclusives comes standard but the fact you get to play these games on the go as well, with console level graphics, is an enticing proposition. Even the third-party games that people may already have access to... what they don't have is a method to play those games on the go. Switch looks to provide that.

I'm sold on the concept. I'm just hoping for a snappy operating system and a launch window Monster Hunter. Follow up with Pikmin 4, a new Metroid and finally another console Fire Emblem.

I don't see how it will. All the power from it seem to be only in the tablet thing. How can it perform like PS4 and XB1 in games. The best hardware is very important to many hardcore gamers.

It's a gimmick but a good one. It won't bring the hardcore crowd due to lack of 3rd party games but with a interesting gimmick they'll attract many much like the wii did.

Pricing will determine how well it sales.

The hardcore Nintendo crowd has always been there. There's nothing here that leads me to believe this won't be Wii U 2.0.
I just hope they are smarter with their pricing.(A Wii U still goes for $299)

A $199 Nintendo console would be perfect. I'd buy it for Smash Bros alone.

Youre kidding right? Its not about being powerful enough to run current gen games. Its about ninty releasing another underpowered gimmick. This is a console that is comming out in 2017 and on a 720 p screen at that. The wiiu WAS the laughing stock of the gaming community. That is a fact. I was a nintendo person in the beginning and even i can admit this ns will sell to the die hard nintendo fans of course. But after that whos really going to buy this thing? Many agree that the ns's reveal was underwhelming. Yeah they might get some third party support but its been proven ninty fans dont buy third party games. This thing is running on a souled up CELL PHONE tech. Like what?

All of this aside, if they can make a decent metroid game for the ns ill buy one. Its still dissapointing we waited this long to be let down. Ps4 and ms fans arent jealous of this abomination because its just another thing for them to laugh at. What i cant wait to see is the price. If its anywhere near 300 it will be dead on arrival. Serious question here... What did they show that actually made you think innovation... Bravo.. I got to have this asap. I seen a mario game that looked fun... Thats it. This thing looks fragile af too. Like if you dropped it once it would break. And also how is it possible a zelda game on 2016 tech looks the same as the wiiu version? Thats laughable at best.

I really like the concept but I need to know more about the machine especially exclusives.I just may buy the Switch.

I'm sorry but with the sparse information given today which BTW is fine we knew we weren't getting much what about the preview suggested that it was going to get hardcore gamers back like seriously please tell me. Listen Nintendo is important to gaming and they've done a lot for gaming but they haven't been a hardcore gamers console of choice for over a decade now. I mean the n64 was the last time that could be said about Nintendo but since Sony came onto the scene followed by Xbox that's pretty much the two options hardcore gamers go for with Nintendo how should i say this left with the scraps and hardcore Nintendo fans. I will say the switch is going to absolutely own the Japanese market because of the portability which they are all about but for the rest of the world nah they will just stick to ps and Xbox.

Only if they have the games for that crowd.

You act as tho they havent done the same exact thing all over again. Everyone else HAS moved on from handheld gaming with tablets and smartphones... Even if you arent a nintendo diehard you have to admit if this "newer tech" is anywhere around the asking price of a system much more powerful... Who will buy it? What did they show to make you think wow this is amazing? Gaming on the go? Connection to the tv? Third party support? 1St party support? ALL of these things are already found elsewhere with a huge catalog of games. The xb1s and the ps4s could easilly drop their price to 250.00. Could you honestly tell me that someone with half a brain would spend more on a unproven, less graphically capable box, with no mic or online system, for more money???? There are plenty of my friends that are nintendo fanboys and even they claimed to feel underwhelmed about the reveal. Two hour game pad time😂? No bump in resolution when in docking station😂? Same level graphics as a wiiu game made 3 years ago but this is a system released in 2017😂 ?? Priced at 300-400$$😂, tiny broken in half controllers to share wiith someone on the go😂? Lmao just no...

I generally haven't agreed with that and Nintendo for a long time being the case. However this time that is completely true. They hit the nail on the head. It's most certainly a hardcore crowd and casual crowd pleaser all in one. The only hurdles are the power of the machine and 3rd party support. If they have hit those two things then this is a homerun.

I was so ready to hate on this console after the Wii and Wii U being my least favourite consoles (especially hated the Wii). My only good recent memories of Nintendo are Mario Kart 8, Animal Crossing: Wild World and New Leaf.

...but to be honest, despite my concerns, I actually really want one.

My concerns...
1. System Power (must be noticeably better than Wii U.)
2. Trophy/Achievement system (This is a deal breaker for me if there is none.)
3. Battery Life (Not as important to me as the first 2 as I'll mostly play at home, but still important.)

Maybe hardcore android/iOS "gamers" will like this but speaking as a console guy it seems like the vita fills this niche in Nintendo's "Blue ocean strategy" already..

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
