Switch is 100% what people wanted the WiiU to be vs what they got with that system. Like the Wii, Switch will be a play at the family not at the hardcore high graphical fidelity gamer. This system has huge appeal to families with children. Its less about the power and more about its accessibility and adaptability to any environment. Its a home system that can actually be portable.... I am not a Nintendo fan at all, but I see the huge appeal of this system.

Just want to know specs and battery life. Third party support has already been confirmed by the top devs. Just need to know what games are coming from them.

Hoping the portable side has something to protect the screen.

Oh & also some way to keep the handheld part charged while playing, like some kind of plug to the mains, like every other handheld (because I always play while plugged in to the mains).
It will be a major bummer if the only way to charge it is to put it away in the charger & have to play it on a TV to continue playing a game when your charge runs out.

Lastly kind of hope they make optional controllers, so I can play with the d-pad & buttons opposite each other, like other Nintendo handhelds.

Only concerns for me are the basics price,hardware, games and battery when going mobile. If they can keep the price reasonable, hardware being somewhat up to date with current consoles, battery lasts longer than 5 hours and games actually come out for it, than I can see it doing well.

The third party list is huge, and there's a lot of big name western third parties on it.
So stuff like CoD, AC, Skyrim, etc, all those big core third party games can and most likely will come to it.

While I always buy physical I'm slightly concerned about the internal storage. I also have my worry about battery life as well.

My kid would lose the attachments

Battery life is my biggest concern, well that and the cost but I cant see this being more than $400 which I'm ok with. Good job Nintendo though, definitely jumps Pro in terms of which console I'll buy next but idk if I want this or VR within the next 6 months lol.

Main Concern: How good can that tablet possibly be in regards to overall performance and cost effectiveness. Best tablets on the market are in the $300+ range and this isn't just a tablet, I'm defenitely not signing up for another premium priced Nintendud i.e. WiiU...

This could be pretty awesome if it has some decent power.. my only concerns are price and the design… With the functionality of the console I can see why it would be hard to design but as a designer myself I care about how things look in front my tv. The logo is kind of obnoxiously big.

HOW. SO. You say, NBA 2k17 (confirmed by 2K) and a Skyrim Game running on the SWITCH. The chips are all custom and NEW. Not to mention the Scorpio and PS4 will just be pushing 4k gaming instead of using that power for the CPU and actual gameplay. I feel confident there wont be major problems like the Wii U had.

It seems like a step in the right direction, but my only complaint is that most of the games they showed in the trailer were games that are on the Wii U or are coming to the Wii U, the only games I saw that aren't were NBA2K17 and Skyrim Remastered. For a console that's coming in 6 months they need to show more exclusives that separate it from the Wii U.

It is a successor to the Wii U for the 3DS community. If that handheld sold hundreds of millions based on a 3 inch 200p screen, imagine a 720p portable Xbox 360?

I kind of like it and will probably get one. Why try to release another me too home only console to be the same as the PS4 or X1? We already have those, there would be almost no point in another one. This will be a very powerful handheld, and a decent home console with enough power to play typical Nintendo games well. I wouldn't want this as an only console, but to add it to my Pro and/or Scorpio would be great.

Best looking system since the SNES

Imagine you drop this on the ground when on the go. You'll break the WHOLE CONSOLE! Then you'll buy new and you have this extra parts from the previous one... and that battery life is almost 100% surely BAD! I have Wii U and I like it but the only problem of Wii U is that there is hardly any games on it...

I think the switch will put up some serious numbers. I don't think it will reach Wii or DS status though.

I think it looks extremely interesting.

Battery life:
If there is a way to plug the handheld part into the mains without having to hide the handheld & being forced to play on the TV.

Couch multiplayer using the small screen:
Not practical, 2 tiny detatchable controllers playing a small screen from a distance.

Screen:
Is there a case protector that slips over the screen when it's not in use but you're carrying it around?
Or will you need a full case, like the Vita?

Controls:
Are there going to be optional detatchable control parts that have symmetrical controls like past Nintendo handhelds?

I like the idea of console on the go but I've read its using a tegra mobile chip. It's probably somewhere just under Xbox one performance. So it will tread water at first but in the years after 3rd party wise you won't have many of the games that are on Microsoft and Sony platforms. I feel that this is the wiiu all over again in that regard

My two biggest concerns is price, and battery life. With the video there were multiple instances of people playing between home and other locations, however since the controllers break from the screen and can be used as a stand alone I wonder how much battery life the unit as a portable have? I also wonder if there's options to replace the battery (or batteries) if over time they lose their charge like other electronics. The reason I ask is being in college at times I have down time and want something to do/play between classes. At the moment I'm not picky on battery life itself but at least an estimate would be welcomed so I can plan accordingly.

My other concern is price since I've noticed different styles of controllers for use, and wonder what's coming with the unit, and how much the other ones will cost. I also noticed in one shot of someone inserting a cartridge so if the cartridge port is confirmed, is it like the Vita where there's multiple slots between memory and games, or just one unified port? I plan on buying one as long as it's priced reasonable, and I have confidence in Nintendo products since they have been known to have a low failure rate with their products.

No matter what Nintendo makes, nomatter how awesome it is, some will just hate it by default.

You're getting a handheld AND console in one purchase. Console quality gaming at home, and on the go.

What's not to like? Zelda at home, and on the go. Buy it once and get both. Skyrim at home, and on the go. Buy it once and get both.

This is system level crossbuy for every AAA game. But let's ignore all that cool stuff and just say it sucks because. If this had the PS branding people would be creaming their pants.

I only have 4 concerns... In order of importance (in my opinion)

1. The tablets battery life
2. Cost of the unit at launch
3. Games released at and around the launch of the unit
4. HDD space (how many games can use fit on the unit without buying an external or swapping for an internal HDD

Love the direction, it feels modern and by far the biggest step in console design evolution, about time.

I don't get it. I guess it just isn't for me. And that controller looks awful when it's in home mode.

For now it went from a may buy to a no buy.

No way it can compete with the PS Pro and Scorpio in terms of power and basically counts on mobility as its key feature.

I remain positive on it. Price is the most important factor at this point.

If there was ever a time for Nintendo to take a loss on hardware, now is the time; $250 would see mass success. I'm not even that interested in buying a Nintendo gaming device but I'd totally impulse buy one.

Launch success is major here, no one wants to buy a console that's not projected for real success. Otherwise, it's just another niche Nintendo device.

I'm mainly concerned about the battery life. The Wii U tablet controller didn't have a great battery life.

I rather buy a Vita again than that thing LOL

It's tablet sized so how portable is it? Especially in Japan. I love the idea of dual analog on the go, i'm interested, but the Vita allows me to play any PS4 game no matter where i am, through remote play. Vita didn't take off even with 3rd party support, so idk about the Switch. The name isn't great either, but if i can play Mass Effect Andromeda on the go and if the Switch is under $399 then i'll certainly buy it.

I am not biting onto another Nintendo system until I see some good games that I want to play and really good third party support. WiiU burned me bad. Never again until I see some noticeable change in the way they support this system. If all its going to get from third parties is android ports (noticed a lot of mobile devs backing this), then I'm out. I'll wait a year after launch and see how it goes.

Only way I would bite instantly is if they announce a real pokemon game for this and the graphics and gameplay catch up to modern gaming. Insta buy then, just for that.

Can't help feeling that the switch will fail as a home and portable, graphically it doesn't look much more powerful than a wiiu , yet looks more cumbersome than other hand helds. Alternatively gamers could buy a psvr, pspro or scopio which to me seam like much better options

It's new tech that offers new gaming experiences so I'm in:) n-switch,psvr,ps4pro and Scorpio is going to destroy my wallet:)

I see great potential, I just hope Nintendo does as well. It could very well be a game changer.

I feel its 5 years too late! Its pretty clear its going to lag in performance with X1/PS4 stakes, its going to be right there with X360 in terms of gameplay quality so using it on the big screen as a traditional games console is going to blow for most current generation console owners, because they will feel like they are buying an Xbox360/PS3 mini with cheap add-on joysticks.
And as a handheld device, it doesnt look any different to an iPad, only with less options that an iPad has. Yeah, it has the clip on joysticks that an iPad lacks, so it takes gaming more serious than an iPad does, but most people that game on a small screen do it because they are casual gamers and the ipad suits them perfectly. Those who like the hardcore gaming will go for Microsoft or Sony every time.

It seems to be trying to be a unique jack of all trades and it feels like it cant compete with current generation consoles (especially with their big Pro/Scorpio announcements) and yet is unlikely to cause iPad playing women/kids from dumping their iPad to pick up a Switch.

So how do they sell it? They rely on their ever-tired library of franchises they own like Mario and so on, and eventually people will get bored of the latest Mario Kart remake. People bored of Wii soon after the novelty of buying it and playing something unique wore off and attachment rates of games to console were far below that of X360/PS3, which is a clear sign that it was a novelty console that sold bucketloads but didnt sell much follow up game/hardware content. While the Wii-U not only sold poorly on attachment rates but even hardware rates as people wanted new, got nothing but rehashed old titles and felt disappointed.

If they want to make a success of it they need to stop relying solely on Mario and similar franchises that are decades old, and start bringing the big developers to the table, but having developers create games that gamers love is not enough, because gamers will take a look at Skyrim or Bioshock or whatever and say to themselves....... which is better? Switch, or PS4 Pro/Xbox Scorpio, and with them all launching roughly within 12 months of each other, I honestly don't think gamers are going to rush and buy their next-gen gaming experience on the Switch. And so Nintendo go back to Mario and the hardcore Nintendo fanboys keep buying it, but it is not enough sales to make it successful, and Nintendo end up with another nail in a rapidly tightening coffin lid!

Nintendo Switch is awesome. Portable and handheld together is a huge deal.

It is cooler then scorpio and pro put together.

Of course what is truly important is the games and only time will tell if Nintendo Switch will have them.

Thats just it, the know is stating the docking station only includes recharge and signal for the tv... No extra power what so ever. I doubt the tiny size of the handheld portion is powerful at all. Theres noway something that small can be anywhere near the tech of a 3 yr old tech of an xb1 let alone ps4

I really wanna see the hardware specs wonder if it supports 4K though I doubt it. Just dont wanna see false advertising on how strong/weak the console is especially the portable one

Not for me.

I don't think this thing will take off. Too many parts that kids will either lose or break, and depending on the cost, this might be a no-go for parents. You really need to be a gamer that likes gaming on the go to want one of these. Even with my PSP, I usually played it mostly at home, since when I'm on the go, I'm busy driving, working or socializing, with no time to play video games. Most people spend more than enough time at home playing video games, so why would they be playing on the go also?

I'm excited, it looks great, we will see if the sales can garner enough support for third parties to be interested. I'd happily sell my vita and wii u for this if it means I can play some great third party games on the go!

Regardless of even anything underpower blah blah lol I'm assuming maybe an hour of battery life!!! Like How can it be on the go when it will always need to be plugged in ? It could not run games like skyrim for more then one hour if that! look how small even phones are that use less consumption and last mere hours........what a dreamworld..... Everyone knows playing a game with demanding graphics on any sort of tablet drains the battery insanely quick so yeah.....is it possible to do yes briefly then ur battery will die..is it practical to most adults or young adults? I would guess not... I have enough to bring when I travel its just something else to worry about. The idea is sorta interesting but it's not new and the technology is not there unless they unveil the new alien technology batteries. In till then why bother....why not just make the killer system we all want from nintendo. Like they really must not get it!!! Like am i the only one that has a meaningful point or what????
