Take Two is onboard? Oh snap does that mean we'll see the likes of Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead, and Borderlands on Switch

Summons753517d ago

That Red Dead 2 trailer was amazing, if Nintendo could secure it as a simultaneous release on the Switch next to PS4 and Xbox One could be awesome. I know I'd have a hard time deciding between the PS4 version for online with friends and portable Red Dead.

Well that's a great list but let's remember the Wii U was supposed to have alot of 3rd party support yet it never materialized. I hope this time all goes well, nothing better than 3 strong competitors in the gaming industry. I'd love to see Nintendo come roaring back to a major contender with a mix of their traditional family friendly titles and some hardcore games.

deafdani3517d ago

If Red Dead 2 gets released on the Switch, that's absolutely the one I'm buying.

naruga3517d ago (Edited 3517d ago )

most important of them all Capcom...only a Monster hunter will save this thing and only in japan imo

NukaCola3517d ago

My hope is this kills the 3DS and fuses it all together. Then Nintendo can focus more resources on one system. This will make a huge difference. Hopefully we get a console Pokémon now. No more 2 versions. You get ONE game that can play on Switch and go anywhere. I am in board. This system looks pretty cool. Lets hope an hour long direct coming on the details soon.

Hmm list of developers with games... Where are the games in the article ???

TimeSkipLuffy3517d ago (Edited 3517d ago )

Would you buy the games on Switch even if you get much better graphical and speed performance on the other consoles? We don't know the technical details for the switch yet but it is hard to believe it will come close to the power of the other two consoles especially when the next iteration is already in the coming. I believe the high power demanding games will sacrifice something like details to be able to run smooth on the Switch.

TimeSkipLuffy3517d ago

@NukaCola That won't happen unless the battery last as long as the DS and also is as cheap. Also there is a massive portion of games for the DS family because you can output those games much faster. With an "highend" portable consumer always demand more. Just look at the Vita. Who is going to play a low graphical game on such a device or consider to buy it? The DS family is the most successful handheld ever made. Killing it would clearly kill a lot of profit.

I wouldn't put it past them. They both got announce and got trailers today.

ocelot073517d ago

Don't start getting hopes up just yet. It's good to see the likes of Take 2 making games for the Switch. But they have more games than just the GTA and Red Dead series.

They have the likes WWE/NBA/Bioshock

hells_supernova3517d ago

Yeah it is NBA for sure that was in the reveal trailer

WiiU-Dude3517d ago

@narugo-
Monster Hunter, Yokai and POKÉMON...will buoy the Japanese market. They favor handhelds, but this being both. It will be interesting how much the Japanese market embraces the machine. Nintendo still does solid there.

I can't wait to pre-order the Nintendo Switch! Unlike the Xbox Scorpio and Ps4 Pro the Nintendo Switch is truly a next generation gaming system ,and allows one to play their games at home and on the go! Unlike the PS Vita and Ps4 Remote-play the Switch plays it's console games native on the go by way of it's cards and on board storage! And they no longer have to make both handheld and console games just games! # Now You're Playing With Power!

Lightning Mr Bubbles3517d ago

I like it as a home console and maybe once in a while a portable. But playing multi player with those tiny little controller bits that don't even match looks terrible. How can it even be fair when the controller is not the same for both players? Not to mention it looks like you can barley even hold the tiny things. Overall that aspect of the console looked kind of awkward to me, but 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

jholden32493517d ago

There's a separate pro controller for the Switch. You can either detach the side controllers and use individually, you can slide them into this thing which makes a makeshift pro controller (probably for when you're out and about but want a normal controller, so you don't have to carry separately) but there's also an actual pro controller.

And by the looks of it, it may have swappable components (ie put dpad where you want it, analogs where you want it, swap out more buttons, etc)

Omnislashver363517d ago (Edited 3517d ago )

I'm only using the sidepads when I'm playing it like a gameboy. I will never let another player have to play with a crummy half-controller. If I decide to play two-player on the go, I'm bringing the pro-controller. Infact, I hardly ever see a situation where I'm detaching the sidepads and playing two-player in the middle of nowhere. I'm leaving them on. Two-player is for the TV, and Single player is for on the go.

Razzer3517d ago

I wouldn't go that far. it is different certainly. Mighty impressive design. But it is not going to match up in power. There are trade offs for mobility.

DeadlyOreo3517d ago

Apparently the Switch is next gen because you can carry it around with you unlike the PS4 and Xbox One, yet both of those deliver next gen graphics unlike the Switch, a point which you so conveniently left out of your comment.

NapalmSanctuary3517d ago (Edited 3517d ago )

I am so sick of games with super graphics and cinematic focus where gameplay seems like it was an after thought in the development process. If the Switch can offer a diverse selection of quality, gameplay centric games then the graphical trade off is more than welcome. Ive had a PS4 for almost 2 years and Ive been bored with it for more than half that time. The only upcoming games that I'm excited for are Ace Combat 7, and the possibility of a new Armored Core game.

TimeSkipLuffy3517d ago

Some might argue that it is not all about graphics and I might agree to that BUT it is also important to consider the games that are going to be released. Why is there less support for the WiiU from 3rd parties? Because the hardware does not meet the standard. So in order to really make those partnerships flourish they need to be able to compete with the PS4(Pro) X1(Scorpio). Nintendo so far survived because they have an amazing history of own published games and some exclusives like Monster Hunter and Pokemon.

ShadowKnight3517d ago (Edited 3517d ago )

Its very innovative hybrid console no doubt and the only way to play Nintendo first party games. I hope they make a new Metroid

TimeSkipLuffy3517d ago

The downside. If you loose the Switch on the go you can't play your games anymore until you buy a new one :D. If you loose the Vita, you can't play the games you bought on the Vita but still be able to play your console games :D

Hopefully the companies do this, since we all remember a similar list with the Wii U and saw how that turned out.

Need to know power level and price. Skyrim and NBA2k17 aren't exactly the Mass Effect: Andromeda, GTA VI, RDR2, Fallout 5, etc, etc.

I hope indeed these come to the Nintendo Switch and that they are good competitive ports, but at this point you should only believe it when you see it.

Otherwise get ready to feel like Charlie Brown as Lucy pulls the football away.

Nintendo needs to release specs and price.

jholden32493517d ago

Nah, even if it only got Nintendo exclusives it'd still be a great console to pick up (we all own PS4 and X1 anyways so it's not like ANYONE here needs a console to play those games on). Not to mention the double whammy value of getting console and high console quality portable in one with permanent crossbuy forever obliterated.

That alone is worth it.

But they seem to have quite a list of supporters. Wii U never had this many pledging support. Only EA, Activision, Ubisoft and a few Japanese publishers. This list absolutely smokes the pledged Wii U support.

blawren43516d ago

Agreed. How many times have we expressed concern that Nintendo focused too much on handheld games, basically doing to the Wii U what most 3rd parties did by excluding the Wii U. They effectively cannibalized their own system. Assuming the 3DS is being phased out soon after Switch releases, without having to split the libraries, there shouldn't be any "droughts" Getting this on release, for sure. Nintendo is making the right moves here, and I'm excited for the possibilities.

Fist4achin3517d ago

I think it looks pretty cool. With all these developers on board, I wonder if they will get games on the other systems or an entirely new game from 3rd party support.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle40d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted
