Platformers didn't die out. They've always been present all these years. They just haven't be been as dominant as they were in past generations, but the genre never left entirely.
It's 3D platformers I want
The side scrolling ones are getting a little stale these days.
Yooka-Laylee will hopefully get things started. I'm hoping Ubisoft will start on a new 3D Rayman game and Microsoft will do a proper Banjo-Threeie game.
SM3DW and R&C 2016 were outstanding. If only we could get a proper 3d Mario with more open worlds to explore instead of the 2D/3D. Would also KILL for a Prime4 as I thought Prime 1 and 2 were the pinnacle of 3d platforming.
Please let platformer's rescue us from this first person shooter/ zombie shooter hell that is modern gaming! I'm 34 and pray for the glory days of platform and action rpg and jrpg games to return.
