I wanting this game to be good, souch I liked about it, I just beat it amd unfortunately I am disappointed, one of the few times in rated something higher than me. Anyway yes it is a fun game but omg is the mission structure grinding hell, that is the games deal breaker it's just to much , it's so much that when you get to the fun missions you barely care, yea first 3_5 hours are great but 5_30 hours is the same smh it's a drag, but soundtrack is beast and protagonist

i hope all the issues in the game are patched fairly quickly. i don't understand why they needed to hide their excellent main story telling behind repetitive side missions

pros:

excellent main story
amazing setting(with technical issues)
great music choice
excellent voice acting and facial animations

cons:

bad side mission design
enemy AI is from ps2 era games( i have seen bad enemy AI but mafia 3's enemy AI is on another level of bad)
combat sometimes doesn't feel like it's making a impact( needs some tweaking)
no fast travel is absurd in open world games

overall this game will score 65-70/100 when all the reviews are set and done but i think we can all agree the game had so much potential that it simply wasted away

Not surprising since the creative head of the studio made the star wars game under Lucas arts which was rated mid 7's too

The people who bought this day one you guys are the problem with gaming industry. You guys are the main reason publishers/developers take advantage of gamers

You all refuse to speak with your wallets and than complain later when another game does it

Battlefield 4 was the start and it sold 14 million copies

Stats wars battlefront was another half baked game with not enough content yet it sold 8 plus million

How abouta unity totally broken

Same gamers defended practices like micro transactions saying no one is forcing you to spend without realizing that grinding will become more of a grind in those games with micro transactions

But go ahead but mafia 3 and act as game testers since the developers clearly didn't test the game before release

Deadly Premonition had a great story and shit gameplay, and I still really enjoyed it. Its not the rule but sometimes a great story can overcome other shortcomings

I have given the game an absolute belting and am carefully completing a region at a time for collectibles etc, about 25 hours so far and I am loving it.

Once I got my silenced weapons the satisfaction of stealthing areas for a few headshots before going loud is all consuming. The squish noise of a headshot and thecfantastic animation makes it so satisfying even after a couple of dozen hours.

The story is the star for sure, the licenced music is utterly amazing and for me, the gameplay is fine too, it is what you might expect from an open world title. Something that stands out in particular with the gameplay is the handling of the cars, they are amazing.

I cant even play the story if i die or the game crash im set back to burke missions its a good game though

This game is too glitchy and buggy!

The shooting in Mass Effect isnt stellar. The graphics only look good standing still, and yet it is one of the greatest award winning series' in gaming.

Telltale Games? Quantic Dream? Their games are ENTIRELY focused on story and they are award winning as well.

If you think that EVERYONE needs to have AAA gameplay to enjoy video games, then you're incredibly detached from reality. lol.

Remember when IGN gave imagine babiez on Wii a higher score than Mafia 2? To this day no matter the score of anything I don't know how anyone trusts IGN.

Are people scared to give this a bad review? It's a buggy, boring, repetitive mess. Why must every game receive a glowing reception? The game is crap, and best avoided. Each mission is filler and those who are praising the story need to get their heads screwed on straight. The story was better in Sonic & Knuckles. Only praiseworthy aspect is the music.

Excellent Narrative, Story, & overall emotions. Though missions were often repetitive, and without re-shade, the game looks horrible (with reshade its one of the best looking). Also, cut-scenes were nice, however, I'd have preferred more refreshing La Cosa Nostra stuff.

It's also to keep in mind, that Mafia 1 & 2 are one of all-time greats, any new game will be shadowed by them.

It was ok. The open world aspect impacted the pacing of the storytelling.

I personally really enjoyed the game, the characters were interesting, the story was great and the atmosphere and music was amazing. My main issue was in respect of its repetitive mission structure but you can level that at the majority of open world games.

I really did enjoy the decision making in the game in respect of picking your captains as your choices could have a pretty dramatic impact on the way the story played out. I am not saying the game was incredible, but in my opinion, I think it's definitely under appreciated.

side missions boring, repetive and game launched in a unfinished state so no it doesn't deserve more respect. we have to stop this nonsense, a publisher launches a game most people who buy day one get short end of the stick, 12-18 months later game is patched to a point where it's stable and gamers praise the devs/publisher

Really liked Mafia 3. The setting and atmosphere were top notch.

Great story, not so great open world design. If it were mission driven like Mafia 1 it would have fared better. Same as RDR2 imho.

I got a 100 hrs out of it. It's a fun mediocre experience. Though, I am not sure we should give a piece of art more respect than what it is. It doesn't do anything for gaming to set the bar at average.

This game has the best cut scenes I have ever seen. Great story too. Just a shame about how repetitive it is. Needed more proper story missions.

This may be an unpopular opinion but I think the game is a lot better than Mafia 2. I got the trilogy definitive edition ad couldn't even finish mafia 2. Mafia 3 however was amazing.
