It's October! A month for pumpkin spice and horror. Let's take a look back at Resident Evil, the series that originally scared the pants off of us.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Spiders: "We're going to cut straight to the chase so you're not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.
What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.
We're sorry that it's come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.
If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we'll no longer be able to reply."
Resident Evil 4 was my introduction to the series and its what I reference when I discuss the horror genre. I recently began playing through the Resident Evil remaster and even though the dialogue is humorous at times, the title creates an undeniable atmosphere of dread, isolation, and terror. The save system alone is fear-inducing. I've never felt so limited. I can't wait to play through all of the titles in the series as Capcom makes the titles available on current generation hardware.
The earlier games were truly the definition of survival horror. They strayed from the origins for a while, but the demo for 7 seems promising.
It seems like they're about to define the survival horror for VR too, and set a base for everyone else to do VR horror right.
for me Resident Evil will never be the same:
-zombies does not looks like zombies anymore they looks just like angry mob of people.
- it's no more a Survival horror game
-too much action shooting
-no more safe rooms with relaxing music
-"no more ink ribbon" and this one is really important to make you feel that you can die any time and lose progress.
-over shoulder camera
-puzzles where are the crazy puzzles.
-no more items & keys like in RE1,2 and 3
-the game is holding your hands now pointing where to go next,it should be just like RE1,2 and 3"figure it out yourself "
- Wesker can shoot Lasers from his Eyes WTF -_-
I remember when someone on n4g claimed, without a hint of irony, that the original Resident Evil was (and I quote) "a parody of survival horror." Because apparently, you can become the benchmark for a genre while also parodying it.
Oh man, those comments make it all worthwhile... XD
