Does anyone know if the DLC and add ons are on the disc? Usually Konami releases these as the original disc with new disc art and then gives you the codes. Anyone know for sure?

formanbradley3512d ago

It's all on disc according to Konami, I don't have a link for you though

Nero21423512d ago

Ground Zeros- the only dlc in the world that got realased before main game

theshredded3512d ago

No, GT already did that before

BlakHavoc3512d ago

Not every game needs a definitive edition, I swear every game releases twice these days.

_-EDMIX-_3512d ago

What do you mean needs? A company's existence is to make money....

Soooo yes. You will always see games get released as do you know any media that has never been released in some form or another?

I find it odd that you're trying to find rationality in something that is technically irrational to consumers in the first place.

You are not Konami you're not getting money from this rerelease therefore it's actually irrelevant to you that it's even happening so as to why you're expressing whether it needs to be done on the consumer's part it's quite strange lol

I'm pretty positive rereleases like The Witcher 3 and Metal Gear Solid 5 will get consumers that purchase it that actually never played the original so it is to a benefit to someone.

Ironically my first time playing The Witcher 1 was one of its rereleases that was enhanced for PC

Better question is how on Earth is it even hurting you but it's being released again?

Did u die? Lol

BlakHavoc3512d ago (Edited 3512d ago )

My issues that I invest money into their product by buying DLC before the definitive edition comes out, and I certainly spend more than $60. Why not just wait from now on to buy DLC since nearly every games going to get a definitive edition that includes all content for the initial price of the base game? Its not due to lack of patience why I buy the DLC too, its lack of knowing about a definitive edition coming in the future.

_-EDMIX-_3512d ago

@blak- because you purchased content based on what their marketing and offering not based on what they're going to release in the future.

I see nothing written in the Eula that suggests that there was anything that any company is promising you as a consumer that purchases something about future content.

Technically speaking could you not make this argument even about let's say something like Metal Gear Solid twin Snakes?

I mean you have to consider that 20 years from now we could be seeing a Metal Gear Solid 5 remake would you be angry that they did that too? No one stopping you from waiting for another version but I don't believe that any company owes any consumer any promise to Never released something in the future just so they get the best deal because that seems sort of irrelevant.

"Why not just wait from now on to buy DLC "

Who's stopping you from doing this about?

I own a 2016 Lexus do you think I care that Lexus is making a 2017 version of my car? No it's completely irrelevant to me I mean could I have not waited for the better 2017 version? What about 2018? Your argument is simply trying to keep up with the Joneses with other versions that are releasing when the reality is the company has never made any promises to have the first initial users exclusive to any of that content in any way shape or form you're purchasing something with the exchange of money you're not purchasing the intellectual property or any rights to permanently stop anyone else from purchasing the same game at a different price in the future I seriously don't even get the relevance of this to a consumer.

I sold my cousin my version of Metal Gear Solid 5 for $1 are you pissed off about this? Does that hurt you knowing that they got that game for $1 and you paid 60?

Help me understand how someone else purchasing this game through a definitive version with extra content is hurting you when you never really needed to purchase that version day one in the first place buddy every game we're all buying this year will probably be released 20 to 30 years from now with multiple different versions.

You're saying if the lack of knowing that version will come out in the future well yes buddy we're all subjected to that , none of us know the future mind you , we don't even know if Konami knew they were going to make such a version for all we know that was something that they thought about after the fact.

Even if they planned it the whole time are you seriously telling me that game of the year versions or something that's brand new to you?

I mean it's not a scam, we all know that there's going to be a Titanic 8K version on Blu-ray Ultra in the future lol

From a consumer standpoint I don't see any wrongdoing and no one on here has yet to provide any real information about any real legal wrong doing in regards to Consumers no one here needs to buy anything they want you could sit back and wait twenty years for the real version if you want to lol

(How about 40 years with the brain implants)?

This is just a classic case of "if I knew" but this applies to all media , are we still not getting box set collection some shows that released 20 years ago?

Not illegal bud.

BlakHavoc3512d ago (Edited 3511d ago )

@Edmix

You make a compelling argument but I'm just saying I don't like that I support a game initially upon release as well as DLC, only to find out I could have gotten a better deal had I just waited about a year. Idk it just feels like they don't give a damn about those that support the game when it first came out, which likely is the reason they can even do a definitive edition to begin with. If MGS5 sold like crap, I doubt they'd be releasing a definitive edition.

@Edmix

Legally? Lol its not THAT serious to me, just voicing my displeasure. I know they're not legally wrong or I cant even really blame them cause its all about money and supply and demand. But I get what you're saying, my reward is getting to play the game and DLC upon release.

_-EDMIX-_3511d ago

@blak- that's the thing you're not supporting it simply based on principle, you gave them money for something in return.

I could have told you that you could have purchased a game used two weeks later for a cheaper price , I'm pretty positive you know that you could have gotten that game cheaper two years after release.

they have zero ode to any consumer to essentially keep a game at the maximum price for a lifetime just to make you feel better about your initial purchase , is this about you actually buying something that you like or somebody else not getting the same game cheaper in the future?

That's like me getting pissed off at Capcom because they remastered Resident Evil so was I just supposed to not purchase the game in 2002 for the GameCube knowing that well over a decade and a half later they might remaster it? Lol

I get you're upset that you didn't know this beforehand but seriously do you even know of a major intellectual property that has never gotten really stand essentially died on a single platform?

Didn't almost every single Metal Gear Solid get rereleased to some degree?

I guess you're upset but legally what would you really due to this company? What did they legally do wrong?

sullynathan3512d ago

well, definitive editions don't take much effort to make anyway so let them do it. Plus their box arts tend to look cool.

BlakHavoc3512d ago

I do agree about the box art

Red_Renegade3511d ago

not ever game needs to exist. so what? don't buy it if you don't want it.

Nodoze3512d ago

Konami milking all they can after Kojima departure.

Hoffmann3512d ago

They do that with the new versions of the MGS games since MGS 1 or?

TheColbertinator3512d ago

Konami has been milking the franchise for decades.

Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance
Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence
Metal Gear Solid The Twin Snakes
Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3DS
Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
Metal Gear Solid Legacy Edition

_-EDMIX-_3512d ago

Thank you.

People could criticize what they're doing all day but they don't really realize that majority of companies do this let's be honest how many times have we seen a collection of Megaman or Sonic games?

Do people not realize just how many times games get rereleased?

My first time playing Chrono Trigger was as a release on the PlayStation 1 my first time playing Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker was as a port for the PlayStation 3.

My first time playing Persona 3 and 4 are the ports on PlayStation 3

My first time playing The Witcher 1 was a rerelease of the enhanced version on PC

Lots of people won't play the exact first editions of games they might likely go on to play different versions of the same game elsewhere and I personally believe that consumers seriously need to stop trying to victimize companies for trying to make money lots of those ports are the reasons why they're still able to create new content today.

Somebody out there didn't play Metal Gear Solid 5 that might purchase this version because it has everything packed in that's good for the industry vs them just purchasing it used.

I've purchased several games as new ports as opposed to used simply because they were enhanced in some way or added another game or something that made me decide to purchase new instead of the older version used.

The Book industry has been doing this for generations and I think most Gamers don't fully understand this because they have not really studied other formats of media to get that this is not something foreign or unheard of.

_-EDMIX-_3512d ago

I believe they were likely going to do this regardless because they still need to make a return on Metal Gear Solid 5 regardless if the director is there or not.

Did Witcher 3 not get released as a definitive edition?

A company is always going to seek to make money seriously don't try to find some sort of deep rationality within a company rereleasing something as if there's this deeper meaning behind it they're just looking to make money.

ie all companies existence....

TheColbertinator3512d ago (Edited 3512d ago )

One thing you mentioned. Persona 3 and 4 were originally on PS2. So I'm guessing you are refering to the remakes on PSP and PSVita

_-EDMIX-_3512d ago

@thecolb- No I'm merely pointing out that my first time playing Persona 3 and 4 are the ports on PlayStation 3.

I played them when they were put up on PlayStation Network.

I never played the PlayStation Vita versions of those two games but you bring up a good point because somebody might have played those two games for the first time on Vita.

annoyedgamer3512d ago

LOL..didnt this game get released on PS4/X1?

C-H-E-F3512d ago

not just that it got released a year ago SMH, Konami I hope everyone continues to boycott them and drive them bankrupt.

Lynx02073512d ago

Your point? Many games have def edition on the same platform that original edition was released.

I just bought MGS HD collection on PS3 cuz I lost game sharing license

I wish Konami would just port it to modern platforms. Wouldn’t mind replaying the series on PS4 for more trophies

Nyxus1205d ago

Yeah we are still waiting for them to renew the licenses, which they were going to do 'soon'.

sadraiden1205d ago

There are trophies in the HD collection, just sign into your ps account, you'll see ps3 and ps4 trophies grouped together when you're on PS4.

solidsnake2221205d ago

I guess I contributed to this, I purchased the original MGS on GoG for my Steam Deck. It's crazy how good the PC version looks compared to the PS1.

Orchard1205d ago

And Konami will still continue to neglect it because Konami...

Really well deserved though, it's one of my most favorite franchises that I go back and re-play on an annual basis.

MegaLogic1204d ago

Metal Geat lost its way after Snake Eater, eveything after that was a convoluted boring mess.

Metal Gear Solid V Is The Greatest Stealth Game Ever Made

Hideo Kojima was dealing with a hostile publisher who was pulling his team’s game apart at the seams in order to launch in some form of finished state, and it’s still downright masterful. Everything about it is mechanically focused and aesthetically nuanced, and not a single thing feels out of place or without purpose. Big Boss moves about each environment with a pace that provides the perfect cadence to use all manner of gadgets in whatever ways you like.

You are incorrect and I will be taking this time to correct you. The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker Forsaken Fortress is stealth that no game has yet to match. Having Link, crawl, sneak and hide under a barrel is innovative stealth that Metal Gear Solid, Splinter Cell, Thief and Tenchu wish they had achieved. I rest my case.

Lol I see what you did there.

So tired of opinion pieces... I come here for hot news, not hot takes.

-Foxtrot1329d ago

Shit Metal Gear Solid game though

It's boring, empty, repetitive

Great mechanics and gameplay but it's just so dull....

1330d ago
Chard1330d ago

I played it long after the hype had settled, and I had a blast with it. Strip away the disappointment over what it could have been, and you're still left with a great game

porkChop1330d ago

The gameplay loop was phenomenal, no question. From a gameplay standpoint it's an incredible stealth game.

porkChop1330d ago

"Hideo Kojima was dealing with a hostile publisher who was pulling his team’s game apart at the seams in order to launch in some form of finished state, and it’s still downright masterful."

Let's not pretend Kojima was entirely innocent there. The game was 5+ years into development, way over budget, and wasn't even halfway done. That's why Chapter 2 is so unfinished and Chapter 3 was scrapped entirely. He was wasting time micromanaging and second-guessing everything his team was doing, and little to no progress was being made. The same thing happened with MGS: Rising. That's why the game got rebooted as MGR: Revengeance and was handed off to Platinum. That's the only way the game was going to get finished. And yet after wasting millions on a scrapped game, MGR only went on to sell a little over 1 million units. It was a failure no matter how you look at it.

That's why Kojima was "locked away" in his office for the final 6 months of development of MGSV. So the team could actually piece together and finish the game. Was Konami just supposed to let Kojima spend more than a decade with infinite funds to make one game? Kojima isn't Rockstar, his games don't sell 170+ million units. At some point the game has to come out.

I get that Konami are a garbage company but they aren't solely responsible for what happened with Kojima. As much as I love his games and will always be a fan, MGSV was almost entirely Kojima's fault and I'm tired of people pretending that it wasn't.

MIDGETonSTILTS171330d ago

Sounds like mismanagement by Konami.

generic-user-name1330d ago

Can you prove any of what you're claiming? Because I've seen Kojima build a studio and release a AAA game in 3 years with Death Stranding. All I'm seeing here are the same conspiracy theories that people like to believe to confirm their biases towards certain people, same with Neil Druckmann. For instance, MGSV may have been in development for a while but you leave out that he was also having the FOX Engine developed alongside it, an engine so good that MGSV ran at 60fps on a PS4.

He's gone on record disputing that he ever goes over budget on very rarely has to delay his titles.

"He was wasting time micromanaging and second-guessing everything his team was doing, and little to no progress was being made."

Where did you get this from?

Workshyskiver1330d ago

Best gameplay of the series hand down, its not even close. Worst story in the series hand down, its not even close.

Ezio20481330d ago

But that ending though with amazing music. The Man who sold the world.

1Victor1330d ago

I can’t say it’s the best or the worse to me I stopped playing metal gear at the end of 4 the official end of the snakes saga and the best in my book was 3 snake eater excellent gameplay and excellent story telling giving us the reason for big boss to go and create his own country before the metal gear saga on the 4-8 bits consoles.
