Interesting. Breakout looks like it could catch on.

NicSage3535d ago

Looks very similar to SMITE.

As soon as I saw that dwarf with a hammer, I knew it was some MOBA.
I'm tired of all this eSports cash grab and all the bullsh!t.
Just want good single player games I can sink my teeth into. I'm 44, with a full-time job, a student, and four kids. I don't have 50 hours to burn into any multiplayer kind of game.
Now here's the thing, IF the industry feels that folks like me are antiquated and should not be catered to, that's understandable. But last I checked teens and young adults don't have residual income to burn. I mean I just bought 4 PS4's last month and planned on buying more.
Let's see what the takeaway is from all this.
Multiplayer is not for me, I have nothing against it, but I'd like intense games with SP in mind.
Horizon looks good, Days Gone, Forza Horizon 3 I'm loving. My concern is that in this rush to makes MOBAS and all these multiplayer focuses games, SP games will be left behind in the dust.

Its not like single player games have stopped.

Theres been a lot less recently, sure, but theres been a lot of absolutely amazing single player games this gen. Uncharted 4, Ratchet, GTA5, etc etc etc

I'm not sure why you bought 4 PS4s.
If you have so much money, invest in a PC on top of your 4 PS4s. There's a ton of great single player games on Steam.

Gifts. One going to Romania.

SP games are still very much alive, and MOBAs are starting to get old. The reception for the newest MOBAs (Paragon, Breakout, etc....) has been pretty poor. I don't think this trend will last forever.

Same goes for the "Crafting Multiplayer Procedural Base-Building Survival Thing" genre, which is on its last legs after dozens of mediocre releases on steam over the last few years, With No Man's Sky being the latest disappointment, and Dual Universe being the next one in line. People are slowly but surely starting to realize that the big "MMO universe with planets" game idea fantasy is actually incredibly boring in practice. I'm 99% sure multiplayer wouldn't have saved NMS

So yeah, I don't think SP is in any danger

ArchangelMike3534d ago

Dude you have 4 PS4s??? and are planning to buy one more?

nix3534d ago

He's got 4 kids. He's buying for them.

MilkMan3534d ago

Yup. We have pcs and Xboxs and all that. We have a shit ton of games, but ask me if I have time to play. By now I'm on auto pilot. I buy new games but I'm so backed up, my job would have to be game playing if I hoped to make a dentist.
However, back on topic. I'm sure sp, is not dead. But I'd like a renewed interest in making great, compelling experiences and not something that feels tacked on.
I am having a good time with Forza Horizon 3 and Recore right now.

ArchangelMike3533d ago

So quick question, are you getting PSVR? I think if you're into "great compelling experiences", then PSVR might be the place. Although the great compelling single player experiences may take a while. I have my eye on Robinson: The Journey and Resident Evil 7.

MilkMan3533d ago

I'm interested in VR, the games you mention are in my radar. But I won't commit until I see some compelling, intriguing games that appear to have a little more substance.
I think I'll take a watch and see approach to VR

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio36d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing36d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9236d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit36d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing36d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9236d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
