With all content added to 'Destiny's newest expansion, 'The Rise of Iron', there isn't much that makes the game feel "new" again. Gamer Professionals writer Jordan Aslett asks why players keep grinding away on a game that never changes.

Meh if you play mmos then you'll know that the grind will be the same even when new content drops. That's just how it is.....a grind.

If youve ever played a mmo like ffxiv you'll know that new content just sweetens the deal but content does not change the games nature and that is that grinding is the straight pipe and nothing else.

I don't mind it, makes it all the more rewarding.

Exactly. And it does change. The new raid is the driving force of gearing up and grinding. And the new raid is incredibly fun.

Great shooting and fun gameplay mechanics make the grind enjoyable. Year 3 and Im still having fun. Cant wait to see they have in store for Destiny 2.

Almost every game is a grind in one way or another, you always grind for more money better weapons or getting better stats. Even a lot of non RPG games work with grinding because it is an easy system to bolster content and players like it because it gives them a feeling of constant progression and differntiation from other players who don't put in that much effort, it gives a feeling the work they put in the game matters, it makes them better and gives them new shinier gear with better stats.

It’s not that Gen Z isn’t interested in AAA or story driven games, a lot of them simply don’t have the financial freedom to explore. When you’re budgeting, you stick to games that give the most value for the least cost, which is why ecosystems like Fortnite, Roblox, and Minecraft dominate. What looks like a preference is often just economic constraint.
