Sundered is a hand-drawn epic coming to PC and PS4. The devs call it a Metroidvania, but how could that be when the map is procedurally generated?

There’s a lot to love about Metroidvania games, from the original Metroid and Castlevania entries to some of the subgenre’s more compelling entries on PS4 and other more recent systems. While there…
Love the newest Strider! Definitely underrated.
Love these lists as i now want to check out Momodora (on PS extra) and Ender Lillies.

The Humble Plug in and Play Digital Bundle just launched today. It features TT Isle of Man, Sundered, WRC 8, Tennis World Tour, and more. As usual, you pay what you want. A percentage goes to support the charity Doctors Without Borders.

Sundered: Eldritch Edition is free at Epic Games Store starting today at 10 AM. It is free until January 16. Once you claim it, it's yours to keep.

Xcom 2 uses procedurally generated maps to perfection and I would add it all feels very creative. I think when used right ,procedurally generated content can be great... but you need to make sure you support it with variety and a narrative that lends itself to the content.
It worked great in The Binding of Isaac.
I think it all comes down to the game's core mechanics rather than the amount of content that is procedurally generated. A MILLION BILLION TIMES. yes... Two phrases this gen have me instantly turned away from a newly announced game.

I would try this game as a free PS+ title but endless games are often endlessly boring.
It works GREAT IN NO MANS SKY in most instances. I've seen planets I was truly mesmerized by and I've seen planets that look like Frieza paid them a visit. Because the possibilities are endless I think it furthers creativity and creates possibilities we might never have imagined
