"With FIFA 17 just around the corner on 29th September, EA Sports released the demo a couple of days ago to much hype and fanfare. With the new game boasting Battlefield’s Frostbite engine and the much publicised Journey mode, how much better is this small slice of virtual football? Here are my initial impressions."

Like all great photographs, the covers of the FIFA and Pro Evolution Soccer video games capture a moment in time. But which ones have been best?

Richard writes: "It would be fair to say that Martin Korda may not be the first name that springs to mind when thinking of video game writers.
However, a quick look through his credits and you will see he is responsible for such stories as The Journey on FIFA 17 and 18, Destiny: The Taken King and Fable: The Journey as well as an impressive back-catalogue. You may then start to understand why we were so keen to sit down and have a chat with him at the Yorkshire Games Festival:"

Some of the best games to play are soccer (football, for our non-American friends). When you're looking for one of the best video games for team sports, and multiplayer play, look no further than the soccer game genre. The world of soccer video games is dominated by two heavy hitters: FIFA and PES (Pro Evolution Soccer). These two game developers keep pushing each other to have better characterization, crisper graphics, and a stronger gameplay engine. As a result, the real winner is the gamer. Let's look at both and see which is best.
I think FIFA series is not getting beter or worse through the years. It's exactly the same, but the teams are changing and that's all.
"Finally fans of big strikers can rejoice, with strength being a whole lot more important. Pace and skilled dribbling has dominated FIFA, particularly Ultimate Team for many years."
I've heard this every single fifa for the last 3-4 years. Strong players have been effective for a good few years now, the problem is that most players don't want to take the time to adapt to using them properly. Those of us who can use them though, are certainly going to dominate in Fifa 17.
Also completely disagree with the passing in Fifa 16.. it was pure wank, plain and simple. There were so many times where you'd have to clear the lines because the game would literally not let you play the ball out from the back, it's been the worst I've seen in the series since I switched from PES back with Fifa 09.
It's insane how divided people are over a demo.
The new corner system is pretty cool, though like the article above says...I'm only scoring from them one way consistently right now.
Journey is looking great. Football games haven't really been able to capture the excitement and feeling of football. With the amazing graphics and atmosphere, it seems like a really fun mode to play, even if it's a short mode.
