ReCore Is Let Down By Technical Issues; Should It Have Been Delayed?

ThisGenGaming says "ReCore has been put under the microscope and reviewers have been sharing their verdict on the game; thus far, reviews are fairly mixed for the game. Even for a $40 title, the reviews haven’t been exactly great and comparably lower to Microsoft’s other exclusives."

Yes, ReCore should have been delayed.

“A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever.” by Shigeru Miyamoto.

2pacalypsenow3453d ago

Unless its Duke Nukem Forever then you get both

lelo2play3453d ago

You clearly don't understand the meaning of the quote.

Let me put like this.
A bad game is bad forever. A delayed game could become a good game... doesn't mean it will be a good game.

Do you get it now?

2pacalypsenow3453d ago

You obviously don't get a meaning of a Joke

Cindy-rella3453d ago

The game should have been delayed until it was proper finished. People love to complain about delays as if the games are delayed to upset people rather than to fix or make a better product. A lot of articles i see complaining about sony delaying a lot of their ps4 exclusive games but the developers want to make a good product.

uptownsoul3453d ago (Edited 3453d ago )

DriveClub and MCC prove this game should have been delayed. And by that I mean to say: Both of those games released broke...Both got fixed relatively soon...BUT both got stuck with the "broken game" stigma that they can't shake (even to this day).

ReCore will probably see the same fate

Shakengandulf3453d ago (Edited 3453d ago )

Lol first thing that came to mind.. shit quote is shit.

Haha that quote is actually in the article!

-Foxtrot3453d ago

"“A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever.” by Shigeru Miyamoto"

Well that's bullshit because Duke Nukem Forever, DriveClub, No Mans Sky, Perfect Dark: Zero, Spore, Sonic the Hedgehog 06, Quantum Break...and so on

I get it...it's Miyamoto but he's wrong like it or not. There's many games which have been delayed but end up being bad to below average.

lelo2play3453d ago (Edited 3453d ago )

You clearly don't understand the meaning of the quote.

gangsta_red3453d ago (Edited 3453d ago )

@leloplay

"A delayed game could become a good game... doesn't mean it will be a good game."

But that makes zero sense. All it means and by Foxtrot's many examples is that these are now delayed bad games. Even the days, months or years couldn't 'eventually' make the game better.

"“A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever.”

This is such a flawed quote. Especially since there is no real way of proving that a bad game became good due to a delay.

conanlifts3453d ago

Except driveclub was fixed to become a good game and i don't think quantum break is below average ( metacritic of 77 is not below average), i thought it was a great game personally.
If driveclub had been delayed another 6-12 months it might have been recieved much better.

lelo2play3453d ago (Edited 3453d ago )

@gangsta_red
Take the example of No Man's Sky. If they delayed the game another year or so and implemented most of the things they actually wanted to implement, don't you think No Man's Sky would have been a better game? As of now, No Man's Sky will always be known as a bad game from a developer that lied to the consumers.
Quantum Break, another example. The game would probably be a much better game if they had delayed it for some time.

Games like Half-Life 2, BioShock, BioShock Infinitive, Alan Wake, GTA4, GTA5, etc... got delayed several times and turned out to be great games. If they haven't got delayed, maybe they wouldn't have been great games.

Nitrowolf23453d ago

The quote is flawed, plain and simple

Games have update after release, Driveclub is a perfect example of a game considered bad by many, turned amazing

yomfweeee3453d ago

Lelo we get what you are trying to say, but the quote doesn't say that. The quote says the game will eventually be good and everyone is pointing out that isn't true.

Outside_ofthe_Box3453d ago (Edited 3453d ago )

Here's the thing; Does it actually matter when a bad game is released?

For me if a game is bad it might as well be delayed because I ain't buying it if it were to release today anyway. And if it gets delayed and it still ends up being horrid I'm still not buying it. So might as well delay it and at least TRY to make it good.

For instance you bring up driveclub. Plenty say that it was a much better game after all the free updates where added. Now imagine how driveclub would have been received if it was delayed a year to two later after it's actual release date. Thing is though people would have bitched nonstop about it's delay though, not knowing that had it released "on time" it would have been an incomplete game.

lelo2play3453d ago (Edited 3453d ago )

@yomfweeee

The problem is first impression. The first contact with the game is a very powerful thing. If players have a bad experience playing the game, most of them will not return to that particular game later on even if the developer improves the game with patches.

Do you really think most players will return to No Man's Sky later on even if the developer improves the game with patches? Most players have already sold the game on ebay. That bad first impression of the game will stay with them forever.

TFJWM3453d ago (Edited 3453d ago )

It is because people are getting the quote wrong... It is really "A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad."

Of course it doesn't cover everything because some games will always be bad.

Shakengandulf3453d ago

Ahh no.. driveclub is one of the best racers I've ever played

2pacalypsenow was making a joke. I think he understands the quote.

But yes i agree they should have delayed it. Even if they fix the technical problems the reviews and opinions will stay with the majority of people.

blackblades3453d ago (Edited 3453d ago )

Lol a bad game is just a bad game, you can delay it you can patch it but still at the end of the day it's still will a bad game. "A delayed game is eventually good" that part doesn't make sense the way it was said. How you re-said it at the bottom is better.

FallenAngel19843453d ago

Unless that game is Shigeru Miyamoto's own Star Fox Zero, in which no amount of delays will eventually make it a good game.

Since they own the IP, I hope they get another dev to work on the sequel (if there is one)

TGGJustin3453d ago

Then you better hope it sells well. Otherwise Microsoft won't give it the time of day.

Rimeskeem3453d ago

At this point I'm assuming they might release it on steam

Concertoine3453d ago (Edited 3453d ago )

The game looks pretty fun to me, reminds me of retro games in a good way. But 2 min load times are inexcusable and i wont support it for that reason

Sciurus_vulgaris3453d ago

I watched several reviews, many liked the gameplay, but many reviewers were very vocal against the games technical aspects. It's a shame, if it weren't for the technical issues, the game would likely would be scoring in the 70s. I might still get this game, once it drops in price, since it looks like the IP deserves another chance.

dms52233452d ago

The developer should be releasing a statement saying they are working a patch or something. I'm not going to open my copy until I hear a statement.

Really bummed though, I was looking forward to this type of game.

hells_supernova3453d ago

yes it should have been. As frustrating as delays are sometimes it is for the best.

Jaw1love3453d ago (Edited 3453d ago )

I think all games should be delayed. Delay them all forever is what I say and then that way when we do get to play it we won't actually play it, cuz it's still delayed and will always be delayed. Delay them all until they are 8K, 3D, VR and can give you a handy under the table as well. And then delay them again.

Five Overlooked Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Gems You Should Play

I personally think there's better on gamepass then what was listed. State of decay imo is better then anything listed. Recore seemed alright for what I played on there also.

roadkillers1146d ago

Is Recore any better to play now?

Concertoine1145d ago

Yeah, especially on One X or Series X. It kinda feels like a PS2 platformer, but in a good way. I liked it.

KillBill1146d ago

Odd that he specified 'Game Pass Ultimate' instead of just 'Game Pass' just so he could include a relatively weak choice comparably in 'Alice: Madness Returns' which is available with EA Play. SoD was a far better overlooked game to have listed.

Crows901146d ago (Edited 1146d ago )

Dont know why they keep listing ultimate. Gamepass is the better value....but the reason I think is that ultimate includes online gwg.

MadLad1145d ago

I mean, as someone who games both on PC and Xbox, Ultimate makes a whole lot of sense. There's console exclusives and PC exclusives. And, at the end of the day, EA Play is still a perk of having Ultimate. When I open Gamepass, the EA Play catalogue is sitting right there for me. It's as much part of Gamepass as any other title I'm looking at, right?

5 Games That Could Have Benefited From a Day One Game Pass Release

Game Pass certainly could have helped Sunset Overdrive which was underrated, imo.

"But the focus of the day is Remedy’s 2016 critically acclaimed Xbox exclusive, Quantum Break, and how Game Pass could have given it a much-needed bump."

Quantum Break received overall good reviews. Not great, but good. Critically acclaimed? Sorry, no. That's hyperbole.

"And fast-forwarding a few years, we saw what a boon Game Pass was for Gears 5. Not only did Game Pass help get the game into the hands of more Xbox and PC players, but it also helped it exceed Gears of War 4 in sales."

Gears 5 was launched on Steam day one. Gears of War 4 still isn't on Steam. I think that's important to point out if you are going to allude to reasons why one game outsold another.

darthv721806d ago

SSOD was free on GwG not too long after release. That is always fun for quick pickup and play. QB is one that I hope gets FPS boost support. It would just feel more natural being more fluid but it too is a good game. I assume it being on GP has somewhat helped it get some recognition.

CrimsonWing691806d ago

There’s no denying how good Gamepass is but I’m still foggy on how it benefits developers/publishers. Like, do they just get one lump sum of cash to put the title on Gamepass? I mean, I personally canceled my pre-order for Outriders when I saw it’s going to be on Gamepass day 1. Judging by that I’m not sure Gamepass helps with the sales of games, rather it does expose games to more players, but how much of that equates to sales down-the-road?

RavenWolfx1806d ago

I heard payment was based on number of downloads and time played in addition to a lump sum, but I am not sure on the accuracy.

demonseye1805d ago

I actually agree on this. because a lot of games will get played that people they normally wouldn't pay for. and its 10 dollars per month which is 120 dollars per year. The average game cost day one is around 70 dollars. i buy a lot more games than 2 on a yearly basis.
and well the gamepass for me just made my option ps5 pc combo. as long as they release every game on pc I don't even have a reason to buy an Xbox. so i wonder if this plan is financially smart in the long term. mind you Xbox already received money for every Xbox game sold regardless if it's Microsoft owned or not.

Revisiting Recore: Xbox One’s Lost Gem

Article on the story of Recore which includes new information on cut characters and covers its rumoured development hell. "Recore’s always been a title that’s fascinated me, as it's clearly a game that never fulfilled its potential for whatever reason.  It's filled to the brim with bugs and glitches and yet, despite that, still managed to charm many who played it. It’s the first game that I wanted"
