If PS4 Pro has 10TF and UHD blu-ray, the most important thing to them would be the price, they would bash the premium price like there is no tomorrow.

I wonder if down the line Sony will bring out the PS4 Pro UHD drive. An external drive? Or even a revised console in mid 2017 when they have listened to all the complaints about this missing feature.

Every tv worth a s these days has streaming services with every damn movie out there. Sure it might be slightly compressed but it still looks fantastic on my curved 4k. I am way more excited about the $399 price tag than let down by no uhdbr.

A new model will launch next year. Sony's 4k bluray wasn't ready so they had two choices 1) pay a rival for a player 2) delay until next year when theirs is ready. They decided to ditch it and launch now to hit the holidays and VR rush. It hurts my decision as I would rather buy a xbox slim since I already own a ps4 for exclusives and a pc for 1440p maxed out games. The bluray is one thing I need for a new 4k tv since I can hook up my consoles as is and my pc can run better setting than the pro anyways. Now il prob just get Scorpio since there's no rush.

I agree with the author on many accounts, especially the streaming concerns.

But it is a games console first, so maybe we are just expecting too much.

Whats missing from any version of ps4 the ability to actually play all my console games @ 60 FPS like what they said before the ps4 even launched. I cant believe there still pushing for higher resolution when we cant get smooth game play at what we are at.

So the important thing thats missing on a games console is something not related to games? Forget all the games related features which are apparently very impressive for the price and focus on that one thing that probably won't make much difference anyhow as you know its a games console.

I'm sure so many people are gonna look at PS Pro, see how awesomely it runs games and go 'but its got no UHD Blue ray player, I'll give it a miss'. It just ain't gonna happen.

I remember when a certain other console maker focused on non-gaming features and look where that got them. You know tv tv tv sport sport sport.

I haven't bought or played a movie off of a disc in about 4 years. Personally, I'm glad they didn't include a 4k bluray player as I've no need for one and it keeps the cost down, but I can see why it'd be upsetting for those who still buy physical movies.

I do find it very very odd that the UHD player wasn't included but I am almost thinking that Sony sees phisical media as a dieing breed. And that streaming will advance in the next two years. But I still think they should have included the drive anyway.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.

Is this like the 10th quarter in a row they're down 33% on hardware how is that even mathematically possible. You would think their mediocrity would Plateau
