Aside from that I have very little interest in the state of current gen gaming. Might get PS4 original down the line tho for uncharted 4 and RE2 remake but that's about it.

Everyone who can remember how console wars last or end, know that power doesn't mean victory or having better sales. Just as Wii outsold everything else last-gen, and just how PS2 was the champion of its generation. Even IF....IF the Xbox One Scorpio was slightly better, or 50% better than PS4 Neo.... it won't change the fact that Microsoft will be selling it at a Loss (Because they HAVE to sell it at the same price or cheaper than PS4 Pro) or it will be MORE expensive than PS4 Pro's $399 price tag? And if they do? The cycle will repeat itself where PS4 will outsell it because the PRICE is lower.

Having the lowest price is more effective in sales than having the superior hardware. PS4 having superior hardware to the Xbox One certainly helps create a flashy argument on why you should pick PS4 over Xbox One - but it's not enough for them to 'Eclipse' and surpass either the PS4 or PS4 Pro.

There is absolutely no way Microsoft can win in any way this generation, they'll be playing catch-up the entire race. They didn't even 'win' against the PS3 since the PS3 still somehow managed to outsell the Xbox 360 globally at the end of the race last-generation.

PS4 could be weaker than Xbox One Scorpio, and Scorpio could be stronger than both PS4 and PS4 Pro, it won't sell unless the price is lower, and that they have a huge game lineup that sells the hardware - and I CANNOT for the life of me see them breaking that barrier, it is literally impossible. They don't have the games and they're going to screw themselves one way or another with Xbox One Scorpios price. $399 or lower? Then their 'superior hardware' will be sold at a loss to keep up with Pros' sales. You can't have superior hardware and a lower price when working with Microsoft. If they sold Scorpio for $450 or $499? It'll just be a repeat of Xbox Ones' launch of a price tag more expensive than the competitors' console - and consumers will pick PS4 Pro over it.

Don't get me wrong though. I also foresee that Xbox One S (if released before Christmas, very likely, perhaps even rushed out the door) will still sell strongly over Christmas Holidays - though I foresee PS4/PS4 Pro selling, simply? More. Depends how much stock they have too.

I hope this ends the dumb console wars. Ps4 was more powerful than X1. Games looked better but they were still the same at the end of the day. All that power didn't make games innovative with new mechanics, etc., so who cares?

Scorpio will be more powerful than PS4P, but does it mean it will spark innovation? New game concepts? Idk, there hasn't been anything groundbreaking in gaming in forever. Just better visuals at the end of the day.

Sony is dumb here. I wonder how they'll spin this one with marketing. They will have to advertise a weaker console at a cheaper price instead of a more powerful console at a cheaper price.

It still doesn't change the fact that MS doesn't have any console exclusive games for the Xbox brand. Why would I purchase a Xbox Scorpio when I could just purchase a PC and play all the same games on my own rig which I can upgrade at anytime? This is part of the reason why the X1 hasn't been selling anywhere near as well as the PS4.

I personally think had Nintendo gotten full 3rd party support for the Wii U and kept producing top notch 1st party games for the system that the Wii U's console sales would be ahead of the X1 right now. It's going to be interesting to see what happens when the NX, PS4 Pro and Scorpio launch, but I don't see either of Sony's competitors passing their PS4 sales moving forward.

This is like the Xbox vs Ps2 era allover again. The Xbox was twice more powerful than the Ps2 but sold miserably and failed.

The Ps2 was less powerful but it had the advantage of launching a year ahead and being more affordable because of this Ps2 had more install base. The Xbox was more powerful but Ps2 still had more 1st party exclusive and more 3rd party games because of the Ps2's market share.

Same scenario is whats happening now with PS4P and Scorpeo. PS4P will be more affordable, will have higher install base, developers will embrace console with more users, there will be true exclusives and more 3rd party games on PS4P.......

Sony 1st party studios will be on full force for PS4P with titles like :
*Horizon
*God of War
*Days Gone
*The Last of Us 2

Playstation's strengths has never been about consoles power, its been about the 1st Party studio's.
The success of the 1st party studios drives 3rd party towards the console.

Ps2 was not powerful but 1st part studios were able make astonishing games on it like God of War, Gran Turismo and Killzone while 3rd parties followed with games like GTA and Resident evil 4.

PS4 pro with a year head start, 4k HDR backed by talented Sony studios with $399 price that can still be slashed next year is an Overkill for Scorpeo!

The only thing that IS obvious is that Microsoft need to cut ties with the, even more incredibly weak in late 2017, ddr3 Xbone if they want Scorpio to be an "obvious" and noticeable difference to the 4.2 teraflop PS4.

PS4 has just been pushed to 3 times more powerful than the Xbone while using next gen GDDR5 tech, Scorpio isn't even double the power of this PS4 and will use the same standard architecture (but hampered by the original limited Xbone of course). Again, there is most certainly an "obvious" power advantage here but it most certainly not the one between PS4 and Scoprio lol.

I'm keeping my original PS4, but the Scorpio has my attention more so than the PS4 Pro. A 50% power advantage is nothing to scoff over, and is the reason I chose PS4 over XB1 in the first place. Plus I plan on getting a 4K tv next year, so UHD Bluray is an obvious requirement.

Scorpio will be more expensive, that's obvious. It'll probably also turn into the next generation's "low end model" in a few years so while you're paying more, it'll last. Once Sony and MS drop support for the existing consoles, the Pro and Scorpio will really shine. I'll probably get the Pro and Scorpio when it's available, however I'm not sure I want to run out and buy a 4k TV anytime soon.

The obvious power gap is meaningless when PS4 is destroying XB1 sales and now the Pro has at least a 1 year head start. At that point, MS is playing catch-up again right out of the gate. Not to mention the fact that their 4k machine is actually pretty beastly and will undoubtedly sell for $500 at which point the PS4 Pro will have been on the market for a year so a $50-$100 price drop around the Scorpio's launch is well within reason. So, PS4 Pro which has a sizable install base with tons of games being released for it for a year at a potential $300 to $350 price point or the Scorpio which is just launching at $500? I think it's pretty obvious where the customers will go. And on top of all that, Sony is 1 year closer to releasing their new platform vs MS so again, MS will be playing catch-up. Again.

if the power advantage (6tf >4.2tf) will be obvious a year from now, how will the 4.2tf > 1.3tf difference look until then? And since the is a 5tf difference between XB1s and Scorpio how is that not a generational difference? If 2 tf is obvious 4tf will make the xb1 and xb1s obsolete just like a generation leap does, except with full backwards compatibility as i would assume all consoles to have going forward.

My only concern is the price ? Like 6 tflops is great but im a student and not exactly a 'hardcore' gamer so probably wont be willing to spend more than $400 on a console. Should i just stick with my Ps4, upgrade to the pro or wait for a scorpio ?

If ms (or Sony) was able to package up their Game os and sell it as a stand alone or as a dual boot option with Windows 10 I think it would remove the need for consoles all together. To me that seems like where we are heading. The new ps or Xbox would literally be pcs similar to Alienware alphas

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
