Tbh you don't even need a PC to emulate I can comfortably emulate up to PS1 and N64 just on my TVs native OS I actually played mother 3 like this recently with a SNES NSO pad

If you want to be the biggest budget gamer and have a decent phone for example a Samsung Galaxy s21 or higher class phone, you can do emulation. Samsung Galaxy s23 or higher can even do switch emulation, and some PC emulation.
If you have a modern laptop, you can just about emulate everything.
If you are not comfortable with emulation, then buy a PS5 and play older titles when they go on sale.

Young child need to be educated by parents. Teach them to see the difference between reality and fiction. I always care people health. I'm not a doctor, but I do care people health. More importantly, children at age 4 to 10 need to play game which less violence because their mind can be unstable without self restrain. But there are time, children have lucky parents like Alphaomegasin who teach his child to play violence game without affect them that much. About school, children need to play video game less not because is bad. It's because they need to study for getting better score. Play video game is fun but stay in school. This is just my thoughts. I don't see why we need studies for this. We know. Stick a child in front of a tablet for 2 hours a day and watch the same thing happened. These forms of entertainment obviously have an affect and if parents aren't going to educate and moderate as is their role then they have only themselves to blame.
I never had the best grades, but boy, my life with video games has been an amazing one.
