Overlord dev: Wii needs 'games for gamers'

Games companies should spend less time trying to make Wii Sports clones and put more effort into making deeper games for the Wii, the producer of Overlord Wii has warned. Speaking to Gamer during a presentation of the game at last month's Games Convention, Dean Scott said that while there was a "Wii gold rush" going on at the moment, developers and publishers will have to start making more "games for gamers" if this is to be sustained.

" the next Wii Sports "
And the horrible part is that developers have no F*cking clue that they have so much competition when they make these games.
On top of that All it's Nintendos software selling the best.

Idiots, these Sport making developers are Idiots.
Casual games aren't bad, as long the gamedesign itself is attractive and not a lame rip-off from some already selling game.

But the developer is pretending Nothing else is comming out.

I can´t wait for wii sports resort BUT there are far to little interesting game for wii out there. 2009 doesn´t look very bright at all for wii.

I know it's pretty bad. I just imagined my self closing my eyes and ignoring what was coming too and it looks pretty bad man. I mean I could not even see the the fact that this developer was talking about his own game that actually looks pretty good, but hold up I didn't see any of that because if it's not hype then it did not happen!

Wash your mouth out Rayko and then take yourself to the Open Zone. We don't like your kind around here. Here in the "Gamer" Zone.

Galaxy is the best Wii game.
I would have even allowed Smash Bros Brawl, Metroid 3, Zelda TP, Zack Wiki, No more heros. Take your pick.
I might even have allowed you Mario Kart at a stretch.
But Wii Sports!?! <jtucker78 weeps silently to himself>

Now, I realise that opinions differ and that there is no right and wrong when it comes to personal opinion. One person can prefer one thing while someone else has a different opinion.
BUT in this instance, I'm afraid you aren't allowed your own opinion and you are absolutely, categorically, indubitably, undisputedly wrong.

You are to the Video Game industry what reality TV viewers are to the TV industry, or manufactured boy band fans are to the music industry.

You won't find any love here on N4G.

Third party is finally making games for gamers, such as:
sonic unleashed
sonic and the black knight
fatal frame: mask of the lunar eclipse
tales of symphonia: dawn of the new world
madworld
arc rise fantasia
spyborgs
cursed mountain
tenchu 4
onechanbara: bikini zombie slayers
deadly creatures
final fantasy crystal chronicles: the crystal bearers

If thats not third party at least trying, what is?

Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.

My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.

Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.

Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.
