Pocket Lint writes: "Microsoft's latest advert featuring Bill Gates and US comic Jerry Seinfeld has been met with an overall negative response.
The 90-second commercial, made by Crispin Porter + Bogusky, that sees Seinfeld bumping into Gates whilst the ex-Microsoft boss is shopping in a discount shoe store, has been panned by the industry and public alike.
Comments on YouTube, where the ad has been posted several times, and watched hundreds of thousands of times already, are primarily negative, with examples like: "That is just stupid", and "I don't get it..." repeated a fair few times."

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.

Spiders: "We're going to cut straight to the chase so you're not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.
What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.
We're sorry that it's come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.
If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we'll no longer be able to reply."
Yeah, it's pretty horrendous.
They should give up on Vista and wait for Windows 7.
But it was pretty long for a commercial as well. I saw it last night wondering when the commercial was going to end
what was the point of it
So you're gauging the success of something from Youtube now? ahhaahahahahahaha, yeah right. The commercial was actually pretty damn brilliant and, while long, it showcased the expendability of vista without being in your face about it.
We don't need to see computers on the screen and we don't need to see specs and what it can and cannot do. We have Bill Gates on screen. Bill Gates is the computer in the commercial you morons.
When you think Bill Gates you think windows, computers, online, and a host of other things. You can't think of anyone of those things without Bill Gates. The shoe analogy is simply for comfort and ease of use. They used it as a crutch for how expandable and how comfortable windows is to the user over the competition; which lets face it there really isn't any.
This commercial might've bombed on Youtube, a site overran with teenage turnip D*CKS who don't understand anything not spelled out for them, but it was a pretty sharp add for someone who wants to think a little bit.
you Tube hahahahahahaahahhahaah
That was an odd advert. I have never seen a microsoft advert before. They don't usually air in Europe so we must be lucky if they are all that quality.
