I *hate* seeing games played before they're released. I don't even like reading too much about them. Once I know enough about a game to know whether or not I want to play it, I try as hard as I can to avoid hearing about them so I can experience as much as possible firsthand.

nobody's forcing anybody at gunpoint to watch or read anything tho.

Cy3571d ago

Did I say they were? I was commenting on the topic in the article. In the comments section. For the article in question. I...don't see how that warrants a snappy, defensive reply?

@ Cy
No, he's right. Don't want spoilers, don't tune in. I don't want to see prerelease streaming end. I like to see a little gameplay before I buy anything. I've been burned by misrepresentation too often to leap with my wallet without looking first.

People simply shouldn't watch. This argument goes all the way back to music, movies, and games. I don't like heavy metal but should people that do not be able to listen because I don't like it? Didn't think so

drizzom3571d ago

I suppose the people who bought No Mans Sky would care.

marioJP873571d ago

Just dont watch the damn game. Couldn't be more simple than that.

I don't agree with that. I WISH I could agree with that. But buying habits and customer opinions prove otherwise

We've seen developers in the AAA space try new things and ideas. More often than not, the customers aren't willing to give things a chance, or not enough people buy into the project for it to grow.

Creativity works better in the indie space because the budgets, pressures, and expectations aren't the same.

Scissorman44d ago

it's a nice idea and it worked during the PS2/PS3-era when AAA didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars. smaller budgets and shorter development time left room for more creativity and more risk. a game didn't need to sell 4 million+ copies to break even. things are different now.

This is the guy who bragged about crunching his staff and having them work through the night. Crunch culture has lost more talent and done more damage to the industry than any other factor. Screw him.
