Instead of new games we get old remastered games...

We are 3 years in and still hardly having must own titles...

Dark_Knightmare23558d ago

You aren't looking hard enough than or you're just looking to complain

Thatguy-3103558d ago (Edited 3558d ago )

He is somewhat right. Last generation we had a lot of new IP's that were good from first party studios and third party studios. This generation there has been only a few standout new IP's while the rest are sequels and remasters of the best games from last gen. If you look ahead we might start seeing good new IP's but it just took a bit longer this gen.

DeadlyOreo3558d ago

He's right though. We don't actually have a lot of decent new games out there at the moment. I was going to get this collection but then I realised I got all three on Steam for like £7 a couple of months back lol. Having a PC has made all of these remasters pretty much pointless for me.

Orbilator3558d ago

What world are you living in?
Oh wait your just another PC owner here to dos console.
I have loads of must own games. Go play your PC and leave us console owners alone

Dark_Knightmare23558d ago

Really I have uncharted 4, bloodborne,ratchet and clank, dark souls 3, Witcher 3, forza horizon 2, halo 5, forza 6, batman arkham knight, infamous second son to name just a handful off the top of my head and that's not even mentioning all the outstanding download games like firewatch, transistor,abzu,rogue legacy etc. Seriously remasters are obviously lucrative or companies wouldn't release them plus their done by a small team or outsourced to a company that specializes in remastering games so they do not take away from new projects. So like i said people that complain about them do it just to complain if they don't like them don't buy them it has no effect on them if someone else does and it gets old hearing the same old whining about it in every article pertaining to a remastered game. Oh and there's been way more new games than remasters this Gen so that's another excuse that's played out

DeadlyOreo3558d ago (Edited 3558d ago )

@Orbilator

What? I've just recently bought a PC, Ive had only a PS4 since it launched. Stop accusing me idiot, look at my history.

Before you start shooting your mouth, I have Bloodborne, Drive club, Ratchet, Uncharted and I even bought the Last of Us again. With plenty of others.

When compared to previous generations this gen is severely lacking in quality, I much enjoyed the PS3/360 era. Why do you think these games are getting remasters?

If you can't see that you are completely oblivious. Top quality games like Uncharted and Bloodborne are extremely lacking.

I am a console player, you don't give us a bad name just because I also have a PC, or are you pissed I get to enjoy my Bioshock collection at a fraction of the price and still play the Titanfall 2 Alpha Test on my Playstation 4? Anyway run along.

Orbilator3557d ago

Jesus really what a muppet you are, you just contradicted yourself. Idiot

Orbilator3557d ago

And soon you'll just be another pirate pc gamer and no play your ps4 at all. Coz why pay for something at all if for free as it's obviously a problem as you brought money up.

Company that done these games is no more so no more games are coming. This is just the license holder cashing in in.

OMGitzThatGuy3558d ago

So you want more man and lighthouse stories set in a unique city.

Gman323558d ago

I agree with redx165 its overkill with all these remasters

Redx1653558d ago (Edited 3558d ago )

+Dark_Knight

- Uncharted 4 ( Yes but its more so the same )
- Witcher 3
- Ratchet and Clank? ( No )
- Bloodborne ( A more unqiue take on the souls franchise but not for everyone )
- Dark Souls 3 ( More so the same as other ones in the franchise )
- Batman Arkham Knight ( Is that a joke? Game was trash )
- Infamous Second Son ( The worst one in the franchise )
- Firewatch ( ? Really the game that has no real gameplay to it? )

Name me games on Uncharted 4's and Witcher 3's level. That's what this gen is lacking. We're 3 years into this gen and about to be in year 4 soon and this is what we get. Remastered games and Microtransaction heavy games...

Last gen we had great games like Skyrim, Fallout NV+3, GTA V, RDR, Bioschock collection, The Last of Us, Uncharted 1+3, Infamous 1+2, Halo 3, Gears of War, God of War 3, COD MW1 + 2 + Blops, Batman Arkham City, and etc...

Why not come out with a new IP? Because it's cheaper, easier, and thus safer to slap some new skins on old textures, tweak the controls and interface, and call it "Remastered." Most of which can be done by a 5 to 10 person medium-skilled team in a couple months or so.

Orbilator3558d ago

And the company doesn't exist anymore

ChrisW3557d ago

Only major companies are doing this, because they have the notoriety to pull something off with IPs that were extremely well received. And those who disagree with my initial comment don't fully understand how easy and how much cheaper remastering something is compared to creating a new IP.

JamesBroski3558d ago

Yea, then you have a port like Batman Arkham Knight on PC.

ChrisW3557d ago

Port? You do know that we are talking about "Remastering," right?

Meh, never mind!

JamesBroski3557d ago

@ChrisW
How do you think remasters work?

ChrisW3555d ago

A port is taking a game and programming it so it works for other operating systems. Sometimes with graphical upgrades, but that's not the main purpose of a port.

A remaster is taking a game and changing it so it looks and plays better for the same or original operating system.

JamesBroski3555d ago

@ChrisW
Are you actually trolling?
Remasters aren't on the same operating systems than the originals... It's exactly the same thing as porting a game to a different platform, but they update the graphics and sometimes the engine. It's actually way more work. Unless it's the PC version, but even still they need to fix all W10 related bugs.

I think with Bioshock they're using the PC versions (I know it is for Bioshock Infinite, it's a straight up port from the PC version).

ChrisW3552d ago

Sure... I'm trolling... I guess... Sheesh!

Just please read these:

JamesBroski3552d ago

@ChrisW
From the "Porting" wikipedia: "Porting is also the term used when a video game designed to run on one platform, be it an arcade, video game console, or personal computer, is converted to run on a different platform."
Was Bioshock 1, 2 and Infinite on PS4 and Xbox One? No? Thank you.

ChrisW3552d ago (Edited 3552d ago )

"Was Bioshock 1, 2 and Infinite on PS4 and Xbox One? No? Thank you."

Wait... What? Seriously!? You started this whole damn thing with Batman Arkham Knight being a port, and I rebutted that we aren't talking about ports! Not even upgraded ports to superior platforms, which is exactly what Batman was. Batman on PC was a bad port. Look it up. It wasn't a "remaster." And now, out of nowhere, you're flipping back to being "on topic" with Bioshock?

Maybe it was an attempt to correct your direction, but honestly you make no sense! So, you know what? I'm done. You win! Somehow... I don't care how... You just win! Good day to you sir!!!!!!!!

JamesBroski3552d ago

@ChrisW

You said remasters can be made with a small team in no time. I pointed out that's how Batman was ported for PC and it was terrible.

Then you kept saying remasters and ports aren't the same thing. I said that a game being remaster on another OS is basically a port, because they have to make it run on the new platform.

"Why not come out with a new IP? Because it's cheaper, easier, and thus safer to slap some new skins on old textures, tweak the controls and interface, and call it "Remastered." Most of which can be done by a 5 to 10 person medium-skilled team in a couple months or so. "

No, it's not just slap some new textures and tweak the controls. They have to port the game as it wasn't made for PS4 or Xbox One.

notachance3558d ago

at this rate i'll just wait for either remastered or goty edition of whatever single player games that'll come out in the future

LoveSpuds3558d ago

Amongst my fave series of games so I am super excited for this. While I already have them on PC I love to game on console more, so this is a dream come true.

On top of all the fantastic new games coming out I get to enjoy remastered classics like Bioshock or Skyrim.....whats not to like?

I dont understand the attitude of some who complain about remasters or collections, if you dont want to play them dont buy them. They rarely impact on new releases, devs almost always outsource the remaster so it has zero impact on their work on new titles.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio18d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing18d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9218d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit18d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing18d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9218d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
