It's way past the point of being thankful for it, but incredibly useful going forward.

Christopher3559d ago

Wait... really? It's never too late to improve and to at least acknowledge the improvement. You can't bitch about what they don't have and then when they add it ignore that it is now available.

I'm glad they have it. Thank you, Sony. Yeah, it could have been a lot sooner, but the other option is to never have it.

DigitalRaptor3559d ago (Edited 3559d ago )

I think it's in the T&Cs of having a PSN account that you are solely responsible for what happens to it, even if a breach is not your fault. 2FA is an extra step to secure your account. There have been PSN account compromises that would never have happened had Sony targeted this industry-wide feature as important enough long ago, like many other huge corporations that offer online services.

I didn't say I was going to ignore it. Of course I'm going to use it. What I mean by being not being thankful for it is in the sense of extending my thanks. I will take it now it's available but they're not getting "thanks Sony, awesome news" from me. This stuff should have been done as STANDARD years ago in the interests of the security of their customers, especially after the 2011 hack.

So each time when I will launch my console I will have to write the code from sms? Won't there be something like in battlenet or steam, to remember your login location and if it will change, than request the code?

Christopher3559d ago

It probably depends on how you have it set up. For me, I'd enable it for all PSN purchases and that's it.

Lon3wolf3559d ago

Only if you actually sign out of your PSN account each time you turn your console off by the looks of it, if you don't sign out manually then you should be ok.

xtheblackparade3559d ago

Okay, the world is a little safer now :)

MagicBeanz3559d ago

So what if you dont have a mobile number?

Genuine-User3559d ago (Edited 3559d ago )

Get one if you want 2-step verification?

@MagicBeanz

It should be.

MagicBeanz3559d ago

So is 2-step verification optional?

Officialxandr3559d ago

@MagicBeanz Two-stop verification is always optional, I believe.

StormLegend3559d ago

I hope it's optional, I don't feel like doing it.

Nosferatu_Zodd3559d ago

I recommend you to do it, just incase.

FriedGoat3559d ago

Mobile Authentication is terrible. Most of the recent twitter/youtube hacks have been through abusing mobile providers to send out sim card replacements to hackers, with this they can then access your mobile number and access your account.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio17d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing17d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9217d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit17d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing17d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9217d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse

To be fair, there are also human made games that release and lack any fun at all either.

jznrpg20d ago

But all of the great games have been made by humans

jwillj2k420d ago

One is by choice, the other is a feature.

PRIMORDUS20d ago

Guild Wars 2 been playing for 14yrs, 1st beta. This is just one company I support, Arenanet and NCSoft, even though I torrent, there are a few PC companies I will buy from. "PlayStation’s Horizon MMO spin-off, Horizon Steel Frontiers." I feel this will be good, NCSoft is a good developer/publisher.

CrimsonWing6920d ago

It’s a tool. Use it elevate things and get it done faster. I’m sorry but not every game made by humans is good. If this can help things, then I fully embrace it.
