I also want Bayonetta 3 for the NX, as well as a TW101 sequel. They'd both be great headline titles for the system's library.

As much as i like TW101, it was a huge flop and wouldn't make for a good launch title. Bayonetta would make more sense.

What did everyone love so much about Vanquish? Not trolling here, It's just that I played it through the 4 hour story and the only thing I liked about it was the gameplay, but that goes without saying when it comes to Platinum - but I see a lot of people hold it up like it's the holy grail of gaming. What makes it so great to so many?

Probably because it felt like it was doing action shooters in a way that not many other shooters could match up to.

I feel the same way. Never really understood all the love that game gets. Not that it's bad but there was no variety. Never got more melee attacks, the weapons really weren't anything special, and didn't even at least give the character a new suit with different abilities.

That will depend heavily on what SEGA the IP owner also has to say. Who also own the Bayonetta IP. But since Shinji Mikami (the man behind Vanquish) left PG. I hope the man replacing him, does a good job.

Hopefully it will be for all consoles...and they'll find a way to include Bayonetta 2 someway. Capcom managed to find a way to get the Gamecube exclusive RE remake on the PS4/Xbox One so it's possible

The only way a platinum game won't be exclusive is if a major third party developer is paying them to work with their IPs (MGSR, Activision cheapies, Neir exclusivity is still undecided)
But If they want to do their own franchises or original games it looks like it has to be at least a console exclusive(Scalebound) thats only because MS is putting everything on PC.

Why the disagrees? Platinum is an extremely talented studio that produces games that don't sell large margins so the chances of a major third party publisher funding a AAA game are pretty slim, Activision tested the waters with Korra,Transformers, TMNT by giving them a limited budget but the real trick is a Platinum games IP selling well. That's why Console publishers are thrilled to fund their games because it brings a solid product to their brand and increases both Hardware and Software at the same time.

@opie_ I'm disagreeing merely because there seems to be this strange assumption that the team making the game has more say in where the game goes then the actual people that own the intellectual property which is actually incorrect.

I'm also disagree because even though I'm a huge fan of platinum I do not really believe they're that good of a team, they've made more bad games than I could say good I only really like the first two Bayonetta games and Vanquish the rest of their titles are very much hit or miss.

And please do not blame the publisher for those terrible games because the concept of those games were terrible, the gameplay of those games were terrible, the design of those games were terrible, I've seen games with limited budgets that are able to do very well. why take on a contract if you're unable to fulfill what the owner is asking of you?

I'm sorry but in a day and age where a team of 5 people could create a concept like no man Sky they're sorta isn't an excuse for such terrible games that Platinum has made , this team literally has about three good games to their name out of a sea of very terrible games.

No I don't care for Fox most times , but I do not recall him ever saying he wants one company having exclusives over another.

He is merely expressing he does not want their next game to be timed considering the series is multi-platform in the first place.

This isn't a Nintendo owned intellectual property. I think it's perfectly fine for fans of the series to express that they want it to come to the platform of their choosing considering again it is not a Nintendo owned property and clearly has been made on other platforms before.

Where the sequel to Bayonetta goes is largely in part to what Sega decides.

Bayonetta 2 was co-developed and funded by Nintendo though, wasn't it? If so, it's unlikely it'll ever leave its exclusive status behind, though it's not precisely impossible.

Bayonetta 3, on the other hand, should have no problem coming to a different platform or platforms if they find the right publisher. They might even include a story summary for the second game if that happens.

It wasn't co-funded, it was 100% Nintendo funded.
Kamiya himself has stated multiple times that without Nintendo and its funding, the sequel would not exist, and every time someone's asked for a port, he has said to "talk to Nintendo about it, because it's going nowhere without their say-so."
The reason this upsets a lot of fake fans of the franchise is because #1 it makes a port of Bay 2 to other systems impossible without Nintendo's say-so, and #2 it makes it more likely for a third entry in the series to pop up on the NX.

You could co-develop a title and publish a title but you do not own the intellectual property for, Microsoft has actually done it many times.

@wonder- I believe that was merely to sell the game to my understanding Nintendo does not own the intellectual property to Bayonetta , I've read no legal documents of Sega ever selling the intellectual property to them so Bayonetta 2 is going to go wherever SEGA actually wants it to go considering they own the property not Nintendo.

We've always heard producers kind of fluff up exclusivity time deals to sell the game many times in fear of it not performing well from holdouts. Consider Ken Levine also stated there was not going to be a Bioshock for PlayStation 3 and was very adamant that they were not working on one and indeed they actually were.

I'm honestly not really sure why you would take what was stated to face value again considering there's no legal documentation to ever show that Nintendo has any ownership over the Bayonetta IP you very much could look it up Sega owns that property not Nintendo.

Considering the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One's install base is actually extremely more likely that Bayonetta 3 ends up on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as opposed to the NX.

Consider Resident Evil Revelations 1 being on the 3DS did not guarantee Revelations 2 even appearing on a Nintendo platform , it didn't even guarantee the future Resident Evil games on a Nintendo platform , at the end of the day this is simply business did Yakuza HD port guarantee future Yakuza games on the Wii U?

So why suddenly does this strange logic apply to Bayonetta? I'm sorry but I've seen many of your post fueled by emotion and personal feelings than real logic.

Except the developer themselves has already stated they would like to work with Nintendo game on Bayonetta 3 when the time comes plus. Bayonetta has a better reception with the Nintendo fanbase. Thanks to it's exclusivity and Smash Bros.

No, it's not, because unlike the RE remakes, Nintendo paid 100% of the development fees for Bayonetta 2.
They effectively control that entry in the series.
Heck, KAMIYA HIMSELF said that you'd have to convince Nintendo before Bay 2 could go anywhere else.
He's said this MULTIPLE TIMES, and he, quite openly, considers those that keep asking to be idiots that cannot read/comprehend his messages.

? A company funding a title does not actually guarantee any exclusivity for any amount of time simply because you could pay for someone's car entirely but not legally own it I don't think you really understand how this works...

Microsoft fully funded Mass Effect and even was publishing the series when Electronic Arts purchased the intellectual property from BioWare which means that Microsoft was funding and Publishing a game they did not own the intellectual property to, go look up who fully paid for the Mass Effect intellectual property, it was not Microsoft, in fact the only thing they purchased from Microsoft was the publishing name.

Producers and directors do this all the time joking that there isn't any other versions currently being made simply to move lots of unit of their current game as opposed to lose sales from holdouts.

#1 Quit being such a port beggar by getting all offended over the idea of a Nintendo exclusive.
If the rest of us have to buy an alternate console for something like Skyrim, it won't kill your cheap butt to buy an alternate console for games like Bayonetta 2.

the only reason you never saw that title get ported is likely to do with Capcom really not wanting to until then. Sega owns with Bayonetta intellectual property they could bring this series to any platform they feel like it.

Consider it is always up to the owners of the intellectual property on where they bring a series not being ported has nothing to do with exclusive deals as much as it has to do with merely the funds or even the possibility of making a profit not being open.

@big game- one of the reasons you've seen Platinum make games on one or two platforms has more salt to do with them being a small independent studio in their intellectual properties being very nitche.

Consider Sega does this often with their titles Persona 5 is only coming to Playstation 3 and PlayStation 4. Microsoft is clearly not going to bring scale bound to its rival consoles police I heard you guys look at who owns the intellectual property the team making the game is actually irrelevant considering they do not own the intellectual property to a large portion of their games.

That is like saying if I paid someone to design my kitchen and I live inside of a forest that you've criticized the designer saying that most times they make their designs on the beach.... well who on Earth owns the property me or the designer? Are you guys seriously not understanding these teams are contracted to work on properties they do not own?

Extend that same idea on to gaming and you kind of understand the position that they're in if they made games for Electronic Arts or Activision or Ubisoft I could assure you they would be on multiple platforms based on how those Publishers released games.

The owner of the IP doesn't apply when the game wasn't funded by them, though. I guarantee you Nintendo wouldn't agree to a deal where they paid millions of dollars to fund Bayonetta 2's development, and allow Sega to release their game to other platforms. They've never done that. Ever. Name one Nintendo published game that appeared on a rival platform.

Sega was sitting on a dormant IP that they weren't willing to revive. Nintendo needed mature titles so they offered to fund a game halted in early development, and Sega said sure because it's no skin off their back when Nintendo's paying.

REmake and the Capcom 5 are a different story because none of those games were funded by Nintendo. You can look on the back of the box, EDMIX. They were all published by Capcom. Thats why Viewtiful Joe and Killer 7 weren't exclusives, either.

Okamiden is not a sequel though, it's more of a spin-off or "spiritual successor".

Also, I'm begging for a 2nd game because Platinum themselves listed it in that poll they made a while ago about what sequel did the fans want next, so I'm guessing it's not out of the question and that they might yet work a deal with Capcom to produce the game.

Okami and Okamiden are best compared to Ni No Kuni. Both the DS and PS3 versions play completely different from each other but they're both trying to accomplish pretty much the same thing in their own way.

That would be cool to see another Bayonetta game come back to xbox/ps consoles. I loved the first one. I didn't get to try the 2nd since it was WiiU exclusive. Also seeing talk about vanquish 2, I'm definitely in for that as well!

You really should pick up a Wii U and Bay 2.
It's worth it if you're really a fan of the franchise, and there are a lot of great games to get alongside it.
I picked up a PS3 due to the first Bayonetta, Ar Tonelico, and KH, and I don't regret going multi-console one bit.

If Sega decides they want to make a third title don't be surprised if they have some sort of special edition with the remaster of the second game is packed in.

That's if they see high demand for the game.

That would be great if they did pack in the extra game, but since Nintendo partially had a hand in the 2nd, I doubt the 2nd Bayonetta will be extended to any other console. Let's hope the 3rd, if it happens will be shared among all the consoles to maximize the exposure.

Get it through your head; Bay 2 is an exclusive and will remain as such until Sega and Nintendo reach a different agreement.

If you put bayonetta 3 again only on a nintendo console then your nuts. Bayonetta 2 never received the attention it deserves because less people played it. At the time of its release i think there are about 10-12mil WiU in the wild. And not all owners bought the game. So if they wish to have another blockbuster then go ahead.

Just FYI, the second sold to a higher percentage of the Wii U's fanbase than the original did to a much larger one made up of two whole console's worth of players.
In other words, despite what raw sales for two platforms will say, the Wii U version sold better by comparison.
Oh, and the complaint that "not all owners bought the game" is an unfair one, because no one ever says that about games on more popular systems.
Not everyone on PS3 bought Infamous, for example.

It sold 1 million on Wii U. 13 million systems sold. On Xbox 360 and PS3 with a combined sales of 164 million consoles and Bayo1 didn't even reach 2 million. You sound like the people saying Madworld should be on PS3 and 360. Well Anarchy Reigns which was a successor sold about the same. Where are you people begging PG exclusives on other systems thinking they sell better but never do? Why are you not buying the games? I am there no matter the console I am supporting them since day one. Where are you?

That 1m on PS3 had a far larger and more popular install base to sell to, and over 5 years, if not longer, to sell to said install base, compared to Bayonetta 2, yet it still didn't sell drastically more, which it should have if the argument about bigger install bases guaranteeing far higher sales held any merit, so that time frame you're quoting doesn't matter much, in comparision to the Wii U version.
Which, I must add, also had gamers campaigning actively AGAINST it, whereas the original release did not endure any of the same sort of backlash.
Also, I feel it must be said that, compared to the Wii U, the PS3 was much more well-known and accepted as the home for games like Bayonetta, IE, mature games with lots of suggestive content.
Bay 2 had that working against it as well, yet it still managed to hit that 1m mark, and it's still slowly rising even now.

No matter how one spins it, the fact is that Bayonetta 2 had a comparatively better showing than the original release, when all factors, not just raw sales data which is a lopsided comparison anyways, are brought into consideration.

Also, the biggest reason, aside from Nintendo saving it, that Bayonetta 2 didn't come to other systems this gen, is because the original sold so bad on such huge install bases last gen that no one else wanted to fund the sequel, believing, accurately, that the inherently smaller starting install bases of the PS4 and XB1, compared to the PS3 and 360, would not have made a difference in Bay 2's sales.
So when Nintendo offered, they took that chance.
And because Nintendo funded it fully, Platinum did well with it.

I know all of this might be upsetting to some, but it's just the plain truth that Bay 2 did well on Wii U, and there's no reason outside of console favoritism to wish for any potential sequels to stay off of the NX, whether they go multiplat or not.

Exactly.
That, plus the fact that the Nintendo fanbase has shown to be more welcoming to the series despite being fewer in number, means that the good feelings from Bay 2 would pour over into the NX with a sequel, increasing reputation, and consequently sales and install base size for the NX, for both sides.
ED doesn't get that, but that's fine, because he doesn't want Nintendo to get good third party exclusives in the first place, so just ignore him.

That's actually over all irrelevant to Sega considering they don't sell consoles, they sell games that's not actually relevant.

At the end of the day they sold less units. Mind you it took over 2 years for them to make that money back I do not see Sega producing another on that platform , did you see them making another Yakuza after Yakuza HD poor sales?

So why would they ignore potential 60 million install base with a trilogy?

Against the install base of the nx which is 0? Lol sure.

If your Sega , the percentage of the game selling based on install base is irrelevant their overall concern is how much the game sold in general.

There's a reason you're not seeing the other Yakuza games on Wii U....

There's a reason you didn't even see Revelations 2 or even the Resident Evil remake or Resident Evil Zero on Wii U..

The idea that a company failed at selling a game yet will continue to fail even more with less of an install base is extremely humorous and strange logic.

SEGA lost nothing. Nintendo fronted the entire bill. SEGA and Platinum collected the money Nintendo gave them and Platinum celebrated it's sales and thanked the fans.

Still waiting on an anarchy reigns sequel. I love that game to death. It almost had everything I could want. It had that straight outta the arcade feel, a near-open world beat em up with stage hazards, mutants, a giant fucking mech, THE DAMN KRAKEN, and the characters were just amazing. You really cant go wrong with a muay tai kickboxing cyborg with tesla blades in his arms, or a half cyborg tiger man with a revolver cannon for a leg. The campaign wasnt bad either. And honestly it was the closest to a god hand 2 we will ever get. Heck it doesnt really have to be a direct sequel. A spiritual successor with the same formula is welcome too. At least 24 characters, an improved combo system, way more items, new crazy ass stages and hazards similar to something like the bayo 2 demo where youre fighting on a jet. Seeing a game like that on pc and consoles running at 60 would just be a blessing. Platinum is the only one that can deliver a game like that

Most people think PG owns Bayonetta IP, SEGA does. Nintendo only owns the rights to the second game, for a set period of years. After that, I can grantee it will be released as HD or 4K remaster on future consoles.

Lots of projects have been 100% funded. Mass Effect 1 was also 100% funded by MS at the time. Things like these always have a time set period. It's how things work.
