Nintendo produces many different kinds of games, but there’s a consistent factor that is present in nearly all of them: a cartoon-like art style. Many gamers belittle the company for constantly using this visual theme, insisting that it makes the games look too ‘kiddy’ (remember the Wind Waker fiasco when it first released?), While th is may be true, I see it more as a benefit.

Modern consoles aren’t one-time purchases. How PlayStation, Nintendo, and Xbox keep you inside their ecosystems.

President Shuntaro Furukawa says he doesn’t think component shortages will be an issue due to new plan.
Should open pre-orders through the E-shop for a period before making it available through stores. And now that COVID is out the way, you can make in store preorders mandatory too. People interested wouldn't have much of an issue driving by if it meant keeping scalpers at bay for a bit.
I mean, the problem is these a-holes have bots that eat up every sites inventory. Then they sell it on eBay for stupid prices. No matter what you try to do we’re still going to have to fight through these human pieces of sh*t to get these damn consoles at launch.
Well I'll either see if I can get one online against bots or wait till they're saturated and buy in a brick and morter store. Waiting isn't an issue anyway I have enough games to wait out the shortage

Looks like the epic console wars might be coming to an end, and a new battlefield is heating up: the Handheld Wars. With heavy hitters like the Steam Deck, Lenovo Legion Go, and the trusty Nintendo Switch, portable gaming is taking the spotlight. These handhelds bring the power of consoles to your hands, offering a variety of gaming experiences for both casual and hardcore gamers. While PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo aren't going anywhere, the rise of handheld gaming is giving us more ways to play than ever before.
Console wars were great when it was SNES vs Genesis. Was always a great topic in the school yard. You got the Genesis port the friend got the SNES port. Always fun to compare who was better. I always looked forward after the school week and rent a game for the SNES. Now the console wars are pretty much done and over with PS3 vs XB360 was pretty much the last of the console wars. Anything after that is pretty much one sided with almost everybody going PS4 and PS5. To me the console wars started to drop after the PS3 and XB360 ran their course. Be interesting to see the handheld wars I am in the market for a new handheld system.
I would say with the defeat of Xbox and Nintendo being it's own thing in family friendly handheld gaming, the console wars are over. For those of us that enjoy that kind of entertainment and are aware of this aspect, it was fun while it lasted.
There is no handheld war Nintendo owns the handheld landscape.
In a handheld war, Nintendo cannot be beaten.
PSP was a surprisingly robust effort, and it came the closest... While doing half as well as the DS.
Certainly when it's appropriate. Games like Mario could even benefit from more stylisation as their art has been getting a little bit stale recently.
Absolutely.
Although there are many realistic-looking games that I've enjoyed over the years, to be honest, realism has become over-rated at this point.
It's also a harder load on both system specs and developer budgets to be pushing for realism in nearly everything lately.
Stylized graphics can look just as gorgeous as any realistic game out there when done right, and in many cases they're also, from what I've heard, easier to work with overall.
And let's face it; a lot of realistic games these days have this awful habit of using muted, dull color schemes.
Not all, mind, but certainly too many to be healthy for the reputation of realistic games in general, what with the huge variety of colors they could be using despite realism as the core style.
The Metroid Prime Trilogy was the closest Nintendo got to realism outside the Pikmin series. Those benefit from a touch of realism. Mario Kart 8 shows how as the technology progresses, even if the style is Pixar based... the polygon count is getting so high it's starting to look real. Mario Kart 8 looks beautiful and I can only imagine what they are planning for the ninth installment. The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild looks fantastic.
I wish they make another Earthbound for NX.
If Nintendo's the one paying the bill, I don't see why not. When gamers finance Nintendo's next game, then they can have what they want. Until then, it's stylized graphics until Nintendo says so when there's nothing wrong with it.
I like graphics but graphics whores are effecting gaming negatively. They need to check themselves when all games don't need to be that way.
I don't see why not. Nintendo is often criticised these days for having the weakest hardware and their style actually helps them keep it visually astounding. Mario Galaxy holds up pretty well today, I'd say.
Not like it affects gameplay anyway. At most, the tone of it.
