Cyberpunk Visual Novel Echo Tokyo Launches on Patreon, Is Quickly Removed

Serena Nelson writes: "Normally I wouldn't mind seeing a new Patreon campaign pop up but AJ Tilley doesn't exactly have a great track record when it comes to crowdfunding and then promptly pulling out before it gets a chance to solidify. I'm still confused as to which accounts are still active and which ones are gone. Both on Kickstarter and Patreon. The Echo Tokyo campaign itself has some rather lofty milestones, too."

First: "Open-world Visual Novel"?

How-W-what?!

Second: How does the author not comes off as "Thrice bitten, but I'll give it another go"?

If there's a repeating cycle going on, with whoever is behind hind trying to exploit both Kickstarter and Patreon at the same time time *WITH THE SAME PROJECT* an article like this shouldn't sound cautionary - it should be outright warning people off.

The Current Situation with AJ Tilley's Outstanding Kickstarters

Serena Nelson writes: "The final major piece of news was in regards to refunds and finances. They've now stopped accepting any refund request by backers because they "had the chance to request them and now we have to focus on using the funds we have to complete the game". They've already gone through the budgets of these titles and were forced to supplement the development with sales from already released games. And while few, with mixed reviews, they do still push them out."
