This is fantastic ill pick up an Xbox One S in August and trade the original for the Scorpio

Was hoping they would do something like this - fantastic news!

Since the Scorpio don't release until fall 2017 it's a good time for people to invest in a 4K television to take advantage of the 4K blu ray player, resolution, and content and be ready for the Scorpio when it releases.

I hope I can keep my Elite controller or I guess I gonna have to buy another one just to trade my old elite system in.

Also, did anyone spot some serious weird shit in the list of the Scorpio specs? Nothing is confirmed about it, they even mention 6 Tflops AND 10 Tflops, not sure where that came from, also the "5 times more powerful than the Neo" seems odd and what is all the different mentions of "new 4kXbox" "next-gen Xbox Scorpio", etc. Is confusing as all heck. The Scorpio is not next gen or are they talking about Xbox Scorpio 2?

Great move! Let's hope that Sony does this as well. Although you've technically had this option since GameStop has been buying older consoles. I'm pretty sure I sold my PS2 to get a PS3. And I know for a fact that you could trade in your PS3 for a discount on Xbox One, or something like that, even the Microsoft store had a similar promotion. Good news all around, anything that can save me a little dough I'm okay with!

I'm all for a trade, especially if I can just transfer everything from one drive to the other. But how will I do this if I have to trade in my system?

Good on MS for doing this, I will probably still sell my XB1 on ebay, unless they have a special deal for getting more on the trade in when it goes towards the scorpio.

Sound nice but am only trading a One for a Xbox one S while keeping the other and buying Scorpio out right . Its a nice incentive for those looking to cut out of pocket cash .

While trading in is not bad,i do wonder what message this will send towards developers?.
Sure you have the X1 and X1S and Scorpio in the works but that seems to be a rather fragmented
way of offering to trade up and yet saying " no one will be left behind ".
Now however also saying we will fase out the Xbox One with the Xbox One S,so in essence you'll be left behind.
Not buying a 4K TV?then having a Xbox One (OG) will not be part of future plans.To me it's rather a mess.

The same goes for the other company (before you start i didn't mention it because of that)

Trade-in programs from big companies typically low ball their customers. I have a feeling people would still make more money selling privately on ebay or kijiji.

Man, my day one Xbox one just died. Do I buy a used XBOX one and wait for Scorpio or wait a another month and get the Xbox one s and then get the Scorpio? Would it be a waste to buy a new X1s when I plan to get the scorpio next year? Thanks for the input.

If they target Scorpio at 399$ or 499$ and combine that with a programm that reward you at least -150$ for bringing your original xbox it will be a very good deal!

Also this could work and favor both sides beacuse if MS will do a trade in then they will propably force Sony to do the same for PS4 and Neo.

Has Sony ever done this before? I cant say for sure but I would think not. However, the fact that Microsoft is offering this it might force their hand to… here´s to hoping.

I'm leaning towards just selling my Xbox One Elite right now keeping the elite controller packaging with a regular controller and keeping the money until the Scorpio launches next year I'm thinking that's the way I would get the most for it and I'll just play the PS4 for the next year exclusively what do u guys think

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
