One Thing That Could Doom Virtual Reality

The founder of Oculus was one of many who has voiced concern, saying in 2014, “I think really bad VR is the only thing that can kill off VR.” It seems as though Sony’s Playstation VR is exactly the kind of “really bad VR” experience that Oculus was worried about.

People being sick is the negative for this. New consoles may overshadow the VR.

amiga-man3598d ago

Nothing will kill off VR, it is happening and will only grow, there are issues to be sorted, but there is no getting this genie back into the bottle.

Artemidorus3597d ago

No it won't it's a gimmick with a small fanbase to the world, watch and learn.

I feel the article is BS
Contradicting itself. 'Fallout 4 VR Adds Teleportation So You Won’t Puke' and blaming PSVR as a bad product while everyone is aware it's mainly the software that needs to be optimised.

Psychotica3598d ago

IMO the biggest obstacle is the lack of good full games.

Bismarn3598d ago

The only thing that could doom VR is they pass some law making VR porn illegal.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit9d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing9d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster929d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
