thanks for the heads up gnna stock pile some super sea snails while i still can

Takwin3616d ago

My daughter's favorite game behind only Animal Crossing. I haven't played it much but it is fun and it looks and plays great. I can't believe this is the last chance for super sea snails, as this is the only way to reroll stats on gear and add an extra slot to gear.

However, the post-launch support for this game is truly astounding, and would maybe even make CD Project Red a bit jealous. Nintendo has an absolute gem of a new IP and it is a lock to be on all future consoles.

As nice as Splatoon is, comparing it to the likes of The Witcher 3 for post-launch support is legitimately ignorant. It completely ignores the fact that Splatoon launched in a very, very unfinished state. Few modes, barely any maps, and a paltry amount of overall content. Even Overwatch launched with more, and Overwatch is undeniably lacking in content as well. It's just that the core gameplay was enough to keep players invested while waiting for content.

CD Projekt Red on the other hand released a finished AAA open world RPG with a huge amount of content for the money. They then spent post launch providing many bits of free but meaningful DLC, and then released two big DLC expansions that were both incredibly well received. Sorry, but Nintendo actually getting around to finishing Splatoon gets them nowhere near the standard CD Projekt was looking to set with The Witcher 3.

I wouldn't even compare Splatoon with Overwatch. For one thing, Splatoon has a single player story mode and Overwatch does not.

Takwin3616d ago

The Witcher 3 is my favorite game ever and what I consider the greatest game ever, and they gave an incredible amount and quality of both paid and free content.

And I still stand by my statement. Splatoon has given out an amazing amount of content than any other modern shooter would've charged at least $40 for, or $30 for DLC and another $30 for an expansion. It's been amazing.

LOL_WUT3616d ago

No, just no. CD Project Red delivered an awesome full game while Splatoon was missing many things at launch like voice chat. ;)

You can also reroll and add slots by using coins, but I think you need to have hit Level 20 in order to do that from what I remember.

The post-launch support has been great, they just kept adding new maps and weapons in for free beyond what was locked out on disc, while they could have easily charged for a season pass.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing27d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9227d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit27d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing27d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9227d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse

To be fair, there are also human made games that release and lack any fun at all either.

jznrpg30d ago

But all of the great games have been made by humans

One is by choice, the other is a feature.

Guild Wars 2 been playing for 14yrs, 1st beta. This is just one company I support, Arenanet and NCSoft, even though I torrent, there are a few PC companies I will buy from. "PlayStation’s Horizon MMO spin-off, Horizon Steel Frontiers." I feel this will be good, NCSoft is a good developer/publisher.

It’s a tool. Use it elevate things and get it done faster. I’m sorry but not every game made by humans is good. If this can help things, then I fully embrace it.
