Today, through the blog of Capcom, the company published an interview with producer Masachika Kawata and director Koshi Nakanishi, responsible for making Resident Evil 7. In conversation, they talked about the first-person perspective of the game, the name change and they have also made it clear that the new release is not a reboot.

Capcom has announced and released the original Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 on Steam.

With the ninth mainline installment looming, it feels like the right moment to rank every mainline Resident Evil game from worst to best.
At first I was like, No Code Veronica on the list!? But then I seen Mainline. The list checks out, but I would personally put 2 over 4.
The original RE was the best. Its not on the list which makes no sense.
The remake of it was alright but should be higher on this list.
i’m fine with people calling it “mainline,” but leaving out the original re1 entirely is wild, since it basically defines the whole series. i’d still put re2 over re4 for pure pacing and atmosphere, even though re4 is the more replayable game. also, the “mainline” label gets messy with code veronica since it feels more essential than some numbered entries. i swear half the time i’m reading these rankings i get derailed by random gambling tabs i opened earlier, including https://monopolybigballerli... and https://football-studio-dic... and https://red-baron.org/ which is a weird contrast to talking about survival horror.

Capcom has launched a new website to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its long-running survival horror series, Resident Evil.
Highlight,
In your own words, what are the core differences between Resident Evil 7 and previous games in the series?
Nakanishi-san: The demo, just to be clear, isn’t a slice of the game. We really want to focus on what concepts we want players to understand about the game with the demo, and that’s horror. This is a tonal preview of what to expect in the game, rather than a little bit of game content you’re getting in advance. In the 20 year history of Resident Evil, you know that the key pillars of the game are fear and horror, exploration of the environment, puzzle-solving elements, resource management, and combat against enemies. Those are all in this game, but we wanted to start off with the first two – horror and exploration – and get you experiencing those two pillars up front. If you’re thinking that because those other elements aren’t in the demo, that they won’t be in the game, that’s not the case. We’re focusing up front about the message of horror coming home in this demo.
I would say it is a reboot from how the previous 3 titles were and how they got away from that. So many good titles lost their magic and moved towards the action oriented flavor and in turn they lost a lot of fan base.
Its a shitboot
From what I read from these 2 dudes, it seems that they have take in consideration everything the fans have point time & time again for the past 10+ years now, that they want the series to go back to it's roots, to take place in a close environment like the mansion in RE1, to have normal people face the horror not special forces guys who are trained to face anything & know how to wield knifes, weapons of any kind & explosions.. to be again a survival horror game that means that our resources must be limited & we must do the best management while playing the game else we won't have what we need to move forward if we are not careful on how we spent everything we have, also people wanted to bring back the puzzles, were we must first find an item before we open the way to move forward, & ofc no QTE, all those things have been pointed by fans countless times since RE turn from a survival horror game into a TPS action game with no scares, no survival, no horror, no puzzles & no atmosphere... it might change from third person to first person but this can't be so bad I prefer third person games but I admit that first person can be more scary, so let's w8 & see I have high hopes after read all that :)
