Resident Evil 2 director has been pestering Capcom about remake

VG247 writes:

Resident Evil 2’s director is deeply excited for the remake, especially since it’s being led by a friend at Capcom.

i know i ill get a lot of disagrees but it s more or less the truth (which has been also admitted by the creators themselves)

...Kamiya although very talented developer (but for different kind of games) started the downfall of RE series...the more action he included in the game, the reduction/ simplification of riddles/puzzles and the the more western feel he gave to the sequel was the start of a very subtle degradation of the series which ended to RE4,5,6 abominations etcetc

Shinji (the original creator of RE which obvious abstained a lot from the creation of RE2)) made Dino Crisis 1 a true masterpiece by basically keeping intact the formula of RE1 ...for me Dino Crsis 1 is the true RE sequel

I do get what you are saying. RE 1 for me was better than 2. I have played RE 1.5 40% build and it had the feel of the 1st one.

Kombatologist3626d ago (Edited 3626d ago )

Where did you play RE 1.5?

EDIT: Nevermind. I Googled it.

deadwiseman853626d ago

I completely agree with you. Iv commented on the fact that resident evil 7 demo is not a resident evil game and I got a ton of dislike. Can't wait for residents evil 2 remake.

TheCommentator3625d ago

Same here. RE is 1,2,3, and Code Veronica. Everything else was blasphemy.

DeadManMMX3626d ago (Edited 3625d ago )

RE4 immediately castrated the atmosphere of the RE Titles. Leon was like a ninja diving out of 2nd story windows and landing on his feet. There was literally one jump scare in the whole game towards the end. It was time for an upgrade to the formula at that point but not so far in the direction they went. All of the main characters became super heroes. I still like RE4-6 but they never gave me the feeling 1-3 and Veronica did.

TheCommentator3625d ago

Yes. A ninja who jumped out of 2nd story windows, but had to stand still to shoot and couldn't dodge a projectile.

Sirk7x3625d ago

Yeah, but RE4 is an amazing game, I think anyone would be hard pressed to argue that it isn't. What other direction should they have gone in?

“The director of the remake is actually somebody who joined Capcom the same year that I did,”

I think its Shu Takumi because he also worked in Resident Evil 2 and he joined Capcom alongside Kamiya. It will be interesting to see how the game will turn out.

Shu Takumi also directed Dino Crisis 2 which was pretty damn awesome! I really hope its him.

DeadManMMX3626d ago

That one was fun action but Dino Crisis 1 was a really great survival horror game. I bought a PSVita TV over the holidays because they were dirt cheap and I sat down and wound up playing 4 hours of it before I knew it. Multiple endings, choices and a great atmosphere. Great Game.

DarkOcelet3626d ago

Nope, i dont work at Capcom. The info is in the wikipedia.

Mr-Dude3626d ago

Good childhood memories from RE2, I was 14 years old that time.

Don't f*ck it up Capcom!

BlaqMagiq13626d ago

If I recall Kamiya said he doesn't like horror games despite being the director for Resident Evil 2. I'm surprised he would even do this.

Hold_It3626d ago

So do you think the remake is going to be more like 4 if that's the case?

BlaqMagiq13626d ago

I have a feeling it will be. Even though we got the REmake and RE0 remasters with the fixed camera view I think over the shoulder is their standard way of doing new RE games now. RE7 demo I don't think counts because Capcom said that's not going to be in the full game.

Hold_It3626d ago

Oh. Yeah, that's true. I think when they say it's not the final game, as in there's actually going to be combat, herbs, puzzles, zombies, etc. If you think about 1-3 were third person fixed, 4-6 were over the shoulder, so it seems like every 3 games or so, they switch it up. If that's the case 7-9 will be first person, and 10-13 (if they do that many) will be something entirely different. We'll only know when more information comes out and when the game drops in January.

BlaqMagiq13626d ago

Yup this will be interesting to see.

PaleMoonDeath3626d ago

Do it REmake style, and no one will complain.. the potential is godly.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio28d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing28d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9228d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit28d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing28d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9228d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
